Bills officially ask for permission to talk to Schotty about their head coaching vacancy... WOOO!!! I feel like a head coaching position would be too heard for BS to pass up but then again, I don't know if the Bills position qualifies as "head coach" in the NFL.

Although, Schotty called a hell of a game on Saturday.

The past few games really. He's been extremely efficient with the playcalling hence Sanchez being careful with the ball. No picks, no sacks, 64% completion rate in the past three games :thumbsup

That being said, he was fucking awful for the first 15 weeks of the season.

Yup, absolutely terrible.

Although a long shot, if Sanchez plays like he played Saturday, and our defense could actually get to the QB, we have a real chance. I'm pretty excited! And can you imagine if we win and Baltimore wins!??! AFC championship at home!?

yeah the jets have a lot of trouble with tight ends, have to get after rivers often

honestly, if you bring a blitz you are going to get burned hard by the Chargers.

the best way to stop the Chargers offense is to be able to get pressure with 4 down linemen. take away the quick throws and outlets, then get pressure.

ive seen too many games where Rivers throws right at a blitz and bam, touchdown.

the Chargers will not get more than 60/70 yards rushing, but they will run just as much as they pass, but their passing will be for 250+ and they score quickly, putting pressure on opposing offenses and forcing them to throw, which wont be good for the JETS.

24-14 Chargers over JETS.

Yeah I agree, that is why I'm saying if we blitz, we must get to the QB, not just pressure him and leave guys wide open. I don't trust the Charger defense at all though, I think Cinci plays better D than SD, so that is why I cna see the Jets scoring 20+.

i dont trust the SD run defense, but i expect them to bring a safety up into the box for the whole game. Sanchez wont scare them into playing with a lot of safety help, Jammer and Cromartie are solid solid corners and the WRs Sanchez will be throwing to are pros, but nothing special.

expect a lot of safety and nickel blitzes in order to stop the run and disrupt Sanchez. They have beaten teams with great running attacks before (Look at the Titans) sure they gave up a lot of yards, but they were able to score and hold the Titans while they racked up points.

in order for the JETS to have a chance, they have to score early and have no worse than a -1 turnover difference.

The Chargers are the best in the AFC as far as turnovers go, only giving up 15 and getting 25. meanwhile the JETS have gotten 28 but given up 30.

The JETS also must get TDs when in the Redzone, the Chargers do not have the best RedZone defense, but they do stop teams from running it in with frequency. you will have to pass for a TD or two to win.

The key to a JETS victory will be having long sustained Drives with the running game and a successful 3rd down pass here and there. then getting 7 pts each time. Keep the ball and keep Rivers off the field. They also must force SD mistakes on offense, a fumble or INT to go two scores up is a must.

I do not like the JETS in a close game, if it comes down to the 4th quarter with 4 minutes left and a tie game or less than a field goal, you are going to have to throw to get chunks of yards. the Chargers are better suited for that in so many ways.

hbktonyb
01-11-2010, 09:05 PM
All that you are saying is true...I think it is such a long shot that the Jets win...but I do give the Jets a little more credit in being able to hold the chargers on at least a few drives.

P.S. Go Ravens. Just got our postseason ticket bill in the mail if the Jets and Ravens end up playing for the AFC!!!

hbktonyb

Its easy to have great feelings about the game, coming off 6 of 7 wins, a playoff win, and Rex's mentality. I'm very excited to watch another playoff game, but let's be realistic, I do not have a great feeling about Sunday's game...Do I think they can contend? yes. But I can also see a complete blowout. San Diego is an excellent football team.

We'll just have to wait an see, but no reason not to be excited as a Jet fan! And can you imagine the excitement if the Ravens actually win on Saturday? blololol

For the Jets, there is this day. There is January the 12th. Forty-one years ago today, the Jets walked into Miami's Orange Bowl as a 17½-point dog to the Colts and walked out as champions of the world, the singular day in the history of the franchise. The other 364 days of the calendar, mostly, have been various degrees of unkind to the Jets and to their fans.

Today is the day to believe...

If Mark Sanchez can go another game without throwing an interception, and Darrelle Revis can hold Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson to less than 30 yards, the Jets have a 50 percent chance of winning Sunday's playoff game in San Diego, according to AccuScore.com.

The game-forecasting Web site says, "There is a 42 percent chance that Mark Sanchez has another game without an interception. If Sanchez has no INTs, the Jets improve their chances (to win) from 31 to 44 percent."

Sanchez has not thrown an interception in eight games this season, and the Jets are 6-2 in those games, 4-0 in the most recent four.

The Web site says, "If Sanchez throws no INTs and Darrelle Revis can shut down Vincent Jackson and hold him to under 30 yards and no TDs, the Jets pull even with a 50 percent chance of winning."

Jets running backs Thomas Jones and Shonn Greene are averaging a combined 125 yards rushing per game.

"If they are held to under this total, then San Diego is a heavy 84 percent favorite," AccuScore predicts, "but if the Jets RBs rush for over 140 yards then (New York) is the 52 percent favorite."

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the next time these two teams meat up it will be a little different.

You will only have to deal with them for one more game. No way they beat a trying Bengals team.

Ya they looked good against the Bengals B squad.

Really? How did the Bengals 1000+ yd rusher look? The Bengals at no point in that game were going all out. It's crazy to think they were.

Which proves my point that The Bengals were not going all out. Call me crazy but I think Benson will play this week and Palmer will probably attempt more than 11 passes.

i dunno about weak, they went 4-0 against the NFC East

Beat the Bengals, Titans, Dolphins, and Broncos.

a lot of those close games are misleading, the Chargers had 2 score leads in a lot of those "close games" in the fourth quarter and let the other team eat clock and score late.

they had a 20-10 lead on the Cowboys with 4 minutes left, let them score with 1 second left to make it a 3 pt game.

had a 3 score lead on the Browns halfway through the 4th, somehow they actually did get an onside kick done.

had a 2 score lead over the Eagles

beat the Redskins with their 2nd/3rd string guys.

the raiders always play the Chargers tough and they are a very talented group.

the game @ the Giants was close and down to the wire, but it was an away game and they had a 4th quarter drive that was important to win.

they might have had a weak schedule but they went 6-3 against teams at or above 500.

and didnt lose to teams below .500

meanwhile the JETS lost 4 games to teams with below 500 records.

The Chargers took care of business against the teams they should beat, meanwhile the JETS (yes they had a tough schedule) didnt.

the only thing about the JETS thats scares me is their Defense, but then again the Chargers have played some quality defenses this year and put up plenty of points on all of them

Balt, Cincy, Phi, Dal, Skins, Broncos, Fins.

You have to worry about their running game. The best running offense vs. the worst running defense would worry me slightly, although still not enough to cover San Diego's dominant QB.

thats lucky that you guys are playing Tampa Bay next week, should be an easy win to keep moving on in the playoffs.

the Chargers have the 20th ranked rushing defense overall this year (11th ranked passing defense for 16th overall) but over the last 12 (when they went 11-1) weeks they would be ranked 10th in the league in rushing defense.

The loss of Jamal Williams in the first game and the subsequent loss of their backup Noise tackle in the 3rd game gave the first 4 opponents a field day. but, since they refocused and Rivera reschemed they have been good.

so i dont know where you are getting your stats from.

they do have the worst rushing OFFENSE, thats obviously clear. but, they have rush for over 200 yards a couple times this season. they are not incapable of running, they just choose not to stick with it.

I don't put much stock into what either team did months ago, I think looking at what they did over their last 6 games is a better barometer. And both teams have been very good, Chargers perfect.

you are right lets look.

JETS:

@Buffalo 19-13
@Tampa Bay 26-3
Atlanta 7-10
@Indy (AA team) 29-15
Cincy (AA team) 37-0
@Cincy 24-14

so... one quality win? although buffalo is so tough at home with that 3-5 record of theirs. ill give you 2.

Chargers:

Kansas City 43-14
@Cleveland 30-23
@Dallas 20-17
Cincy 27-24
@Tenn 42-17
Wash 23-20 (playing with their AA Team)

thats probably 3 quality wins, although that Washington game with backups in for 3 quarters is probably also a quality win. but ill leave it off.

so thats pretty close, i mean

The Chargers offense averaged 31 points, JETS 24, respectable.
Chargers gave up 19 a game and the JETS 9 (very impressive) although the Chargers did give up 30 points during the 4th quarter when the game was well in hand, so we can drop that average to 14 because of that.

well in all that i would say you have two pretty good defenses on your hands JETS being better of course against weaker opponents, a respectable JETS offense and a out of your mind San Diego Offense. :thumbsup

of course one would have to, they are by far the best in the league. that OL is amazing. But the Chargers have faced really good running teams before and had no problem, they have also put up a lot of points on good defense.

i actually dont see Sanchez throwing an INT (srsly the Chargers drop 1-2 picks a game, its terrible)

But everyone needs to calm the hell down with the talk that we are going to win, having good feelings, this team is THE team...let's not forget we were only 9-7 this season, losing 10-7 to Hotlanta a few weeks ago!

I dont buy into what all the experts say. Sure San Diego might have been the hottest team in football but they havent played a meaningful game with their starters in 3 weeks. Im not in favor of resting players in the final weeks, has it ever worked? I remember pitt indy and the gmen all coming into the playoffs hot in their superbowl years. And we all know belicheat doesnt rest his players (welker blololol). I know the chargers are a better team on paper and have some favorable matchups but who knows who will come out of that tunnel? Hopefully the Jets come with their balls out and slap em on Rivers' forehead.

The thing about this is that the Chargers played all their uninjured starters for the first quarter of the last game and they shut out the skins and scored 10 points on two drives. that was enough for Turner to believe they kept their rhythm.

the next thing about the chargers is that they rotate guys like crazy on defense, and their backups got plenty of playing time in their last game, which will only get their starters more healthy and their backups more experience.

the most important thing is that Norv Turner had these guys working last week like a normal week of practice instead of giving them time off/days off. the only day they didnt work like normal was sunday.

I dont expect them to slow down on their own. The JETS defense would be what slows them down.

its hard to say, their offense wont get worse. but their defense needs a leader and they have lost their leaders (Harrison, Seau, Bruschi, Seymore)

they will need to get more talented and develop a leader.

The point is to get people riled up and talking about it. Then he can go to practice and say "okay men we've gotta fucking work."

If the team they're playing thinks that they are overzealous and unrealistic they might not be working as hard as they might if they knew they were playing a team like the Colts. I'm sure the Jets are working harder then any other team right now. The more they plant that seed in the other teams heads, the more advantage they're gonna get when the Chargers go "Give me a break, the Jets?"

The Chargers will blow out the Jets.

there are two trains of thought i have.

1) the chargers will stop their offense for 2 quarters, but that is enough to get a 3 score lead (24-7) at half time and the game will be sealed up.

2) the chargers will be stopped by their defense and hold the JETS for 2 quarters (10-7) at half

i really dont see the JETS scoring many points in the first half, however if it is not a blowout by halftime, then the JETS have a shot at running in the second half and scoring some points.

if they are down by 2 or more scores coming out of half time, they have to throw in order to score. i dont see them winning that battle.

If the Chargers get the ball to start the game, walk down the field and get 7 (Jackson TD im calling it) the game will be completely different than if they punt.

the Chargers will punt, but if it is the first drive and the JETS offense doesnt feel forced, they should be able to keep up.

Randy Moss twice, Terrell Owens twice, Ochocinco twice, Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Marques Colston, Steve Smith, Roddy White, Mike Sims-Walker ... They averaged 2.9 receptions and 26.4 yards against Revis.

The rest of the season those nine receivers averaged 5.1 receptions and nearly three times as many yards.

The rest of the season those nine receivers averaged 5.1 receptions and nearly three times as many yards.

he is outstanding , i saw those stats.
