Nope, they brought back Clowney instead. Clowney is fucking useless.

Your post doesn't make much sense, the AFC East is arguably the best division in the NFL.
How does it not make sense? It's like the Cubs in the post season. Cool, but you know they're not going to win it all.
If the Jets and the Ravens are the best the NFL has to offer, maybe there should be a lockout next year so they can wrangle up some talent.

Me too, Coles can at least run a route. Clowney can't receive or play special teams. In fact I think our special teams just got a little worse.

Let's add up points on the board from this past weekend and see what happens.
Unfair assessment? NE played Cincy, Baltimore played NYJ and Pittsburg/Miami played equi-shitty division celler dwellers.
Baltimore + Pitt + Cincy = 10 + 15 + 24 = 49
New England + New York + Miami = 38 + 9 + 15 = 62
Scoreboard, bitches.
:lol:lol:lol:lol, WhT?
The ravens and pats are equal??? You beat the jets by one point...imagine if you played a team that actually had an O....I think you are seriously over estimating your win yesterday...
Well, the Ravens beat the living piss out of the Patriots at Foxboro in the playoffs last season and both teams started out 1-0. I think even is a pretty fair characterization.
Hopefully Coles is back. And damn, Thomas has fallen. I remember when he was the big free agent a few years back.
The people he played with on the Ravens made him look so much better than he was. I'll agree he seemed to regress in NY, though.
Also, read a funny comment the other day: the ball Bart Scott threw at Ray Rice in the pregame was the best throw made by a Jets player all day.

This isnt college football. 1-0 = 1-0.
Also, the Ravens dominated every single facet of the game. Si.com Power Rankings have them at No. 2. A snippet:
Baltimore Ravens (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/nfl/teams/ravens/) (1-0)
Ravens-Jets on Monday night really was the most lopsided one-point game I can ever recall. I guess Baltimore could have lost, but I never once thought it would.
I dont know that the Ravens are the best team in football, but I do know that there isn;t one team out there they can't beat.

They did? Was it the 49 yards of total rushing that sold the deal? Or maybe the average starting position inside their own 20? Or it could have been giving up average starting position in the negative? Or the 3 turnovers? Dom-i-nation!

The Boston Herald reports that Brady ripped into Patriots fans today, wondering aloud why they leave games early while fans of other teams don't.
"The road environment is very different than our friendly home crowd, who when I looked up, half the stadium was gone when we were up 21 points early fourth quarter, which I wasn't so happy about," Brady said. "I don't think the Jets fans leave early. They're going to be loud the whole game. Communication is always an issue."

Oh boo fucking hoo Tom. You know why Jets fans don't leave? Because we're either down 7 or up 7. "Blowout win" is not in our vocabulary. Shit, we could be up 21 in the fourth quarter too and I don't think I'd leave for fear I'd miss a game that goes down to the wire with the Jets.

At the end of the day, out of all teams for the jets to face week 1 the ravens probably were the toughest matchup. Obviously sanchez and the offense looked like trash, but it doesnt help facing that defense. If they eliminate the mental errors like fumbling off our own linemans ass, penalties which lead to 1st and goal on the 1, they should be alright. They had 6 first downs and lost by one point, if the jets are THAT bad then the ravens cant be THAT good. As for the pats, your boy fred taylor aint rushing for shit if the highly praised ray rice managed only 43 yards on 21 attempts. And if moss is a non factor vs revis then that leaves welker, who usually kills the jets ill give you that. Only place to go for the jets offense is up after last weeks display, and vs the pats defense who showed their true colors in the 2nd half, i think its possible.

Against an offense of Carson Palmer, TO, and Ocho...jets offense doesnt worry anyone i think sanchez looked down field maybe once or twice the whole game. check down throws almost every time. pats will be all over that

When they actually called plays that required looking down field, the pass rush was all over him. The Pats pass rush is NOwhere near what the Ravens pass rush is.

True, he looked lost, the one time he did complete to keller 33 yards down to the 1 was brought back on a penalty. After that he didn't let anything develop. The worst part was that they were rushing 3, he had plenty of time to throw on majority of the plays yet he still dumped it off. Its gotta be something theyre working on this week
hbktonyb
09-15-2010, 03:27 PM
Other than the Jets, the Ravens defense would be toughest for Sanchez because of the pass rush. I think the Jets offense will be better than last week. What worries me is Brady. If Rex insists on throwing the same blitz package on 3rd down all game, Brady will find a way to get a short pass off where the receiver can run for a bunch of yards, like Manning did in the playoffs last year. Once in a while I'd like to see Rex throw in different 3rd down packages, hell, even drop back a few times. Everyone in the stadium knows the house is coming.

You should probably look at the pats boxscore for the last game. A lot more than welker to worry about after moss. Edelman will also be playing this week most likely.

i think he has it in his head that he doesnt want to make a mistake by throwing a pick and just dumps the ball off without even thinking twice. it's good to not take all those chances, but you're never going anywhere if you cant throw the ball down field.

Tom should be talking to the shitty people who have season tickets and just use Patriots games as ways to sell to clients. Real fans are there the whole way through. I've sat through crushing Red Sox defeats just cause fuck it, I bought a ticket.

This is what happens when you're owner trades game atmosphere for corporate socializing.
There was an article a few years ago (maybe Bill Simmons) about how Gillette Stadium destroyed the fan experience of home Patriot games compared to old Foxborough Stadium, and how all of the old Regular Joe season ticket holders who are the real fans got thrown up into the upper decks while the lower seating area comprised of people who were there only to be seen. This seems to be coming a more relevant issue with new stadiums where only the super rich and the corporate big wigs have an opportunity to create a good crowd experience (Cowboys Stadium, New Meadowlands, New Yankee Stadium). Im glad places like Lambeau and Arrowhead are still around to preserve that which seems be becoming antique.

All of the above. I'm not nervous about having a kid, I've always wanted kids and I'm 25, I guess now is as good a time to grow up as ever. Just between my work schedule with the NBA, the 45 minute commute, plus my side music teaching job (all of which I need to pay rent/bills/fuck around) I'm nervous about how much I'll be around and how pissed my chick will be about it :lol

Well from what all my friends have said who have kids, you're never really ready and prepared, so yeah now is as good a time as any. :lol
Does she have family/friends around that will be able to help her out in the beginning? That's really the hardest part, the adjustment. But you can pretty much guarantee that she won't be happy with that much absence on your part. :lol

She's actually going to be living with her parents for the first few months since it's close and they have the house to accommodate it. Not ideal, but we are gonna need all the help we can get with me in my working situation and her taking classes for a nursing/bloodwork job.

Yes, I already bought a Knicks Carmelo jersey for her. She doesn't care about the name of the stadium. She thinks Wilson Chandler is a starter on most teams in the NBA. Don't worry, it's not going anywhere.

I work in production for the NBA doing promos, live event stuff, press conferences... pretty much anything run by the NBA itself. Also do footage requests from outside media, for example, the ever-so-catchy Gatorade ad (Evolve) uses Dwight Howard footage that we put together for them. I would say my 9 months at Stern played a big role in me finding a job considering my whole interview here was asking what I did at Stern :lol

Honestly, both were extreme dumb luck. I applied on the Howard TV website my junior year of college, they interviewed me a week later, I had the internship. Then when that was over they asked me to come back on the radio side. While the season isn't over by any stretch of the imagination, it doesn't concern you that your team played like shit against a division rival who had 1 less day to prepare, were without there best defensive player for half the game, and passed the ball at will WITHOUT THERE BEST RECEIVER. (Santonio says be back in 2 weeks). Even though the Pats always find a way to win, this is clearly an alarm going off.
Now if the Jets play like this the next two weeks, they are 3-1 and 3-0 in the division.

There SHOULD be no way in hell we lose to Miami after locking down one of the most explosive offenses in the league, but the Dolphins have a way of beating teams that you can't even help. They control the clock and work slowly. If we want to win, we have to beat them at their own game and win with our offense which I'm fairly confident in after yesterday.

When you tout yourself as the best player at the position, you talk shit on Moss, your fans proclaim you a lock down corner, and you get burned for a 34-yard touchdown, yeah, you've been torched. Especially when your backups do better than you.

Oh, so now the defense wasnt set. It wasnt Moss running right by Revis and making the play. OK. Im sure all those great plays Revis makes are all him, and the mistakes are on the other 10 guys. OK. Then his hammy hurt all of a sudden. Sure, sure.

Someone cant refute anything I said.
I know football fine. Revis, and pretty much every good corner since Deion Sanders, has been criminally overrated by fans and media. Its very hard to play corner in today's NFL; no one is lockdown. The talent of your front seven, coupled with the pressure packages of your defensive coordinator, determines how well your defense plays.
Revis benefited a ton from the Jets' scheme and from playing a poor schedule in 2009. He's not bad, not by any means. But he is overrated and the Jets should have never given him the money he wanted, simply because his impact on a game is minimal. He left the game with an injury that is 100 percent attributable to his holdout and the Jets didnt miss a beat. Now you can credit the way the Jets' front seven handled Brady or you can say the backup corners did well. Its one of those two, and either answer is evidence that Revis is simply an above-average corner on a great defense.

But not a chance the Jets lose to Miami this week.
I think you are way off on this. Miami will be favored to win this game. Revis will probably be out for at least 2 weeks. Miami beat us up last year, and this year they have a QB who is playing better, plus a great receiver. This will be a very tough game to win, tougher than the Patriots.

Again, I never thought he deserved his contract. I've been saying that since last season. We always talk about system QBs and system RBs. Why not a system corner? The front seven makes that secondary look incredible. The Ravens have done this for years.
I dont think he's bad. I think he's overrated and the Jets tied up way too much money in a player who doesnt have that much impact on a game. Brady deserves his contact because he's a QB with 3 SB rings who has performed at an elite level for nearly a decade. Revis had one good year against some mostly crappy competition. I went through this last year but I'll do it again.
Andre Johnson was week one. Mike-Sims Walker is a joke of an inclusion, as is TO. Why is Reggie Wayne on the list when he caught 3 balls for 55 yards in the playoff game? You also forgot to mention that Vincent Jackson went for 111 in the playoffs.
Of those teams you listed: New England, Buffalo, Jacksonville, Carolina, Atlanta, Cincy, and Indy, only three finished in the top 15 in total offense (NE, Indy, and Houston). Houston was week one. Wasn't it Jets' fans themselves who were claiming just last week that the first game of the season is an aberration?
The Jets played four teams in 2009 that finished in the top 15 in total offense. They lost two of them. That is an amazing stat. They played a weak schedule and Revis benefitted. That's not a knock, it just shows that he's a little inflated.
bolded fixed to make sense.
Cromartie is an All-Pro now? What was he last week?
And how many receivers in a given week go over 100 yards? 5? 7? So anyone who keeps a wideout under 100 yards can be in the discussion for best CB in the NFL?

There's nothing to refute. You have a bunch of opinions and no fact. The Jets losing two games against the four top 15 offenses they played means dick when it comes to Revis. Playing 12 teams with bottom 15 offense is a fact. Im saying he didn't have much to shut down.

Look, you can come up with whatever excuses and stats you want. The bottom line is when Revis is on the field, the other team's #1 WR doesn't produce much. And guess what? That's the only thing that matters during the game. Not who played the 15th percentile teams with the lowest average YAC in the first 56% of the game in the last quarter of their schedule, or whatever the fuck you're trying to prove.

Why are we comparing team statistics to indiviual players?
Because unlike QBs and RBs, WRs aren't self-producing. They depend on a competent QB to get them the ball. Most of the teams the Jets faced in 2009 didnt have one of those. The stats don't lie.

Its nothing close to whatever obscure stats you threw out there. They didn't play quality offensive teams. Simple as that.
And I'd argue that the score matters more than what any one wideout does, but that's neither here nor there.

And just so I know we aren't crazy in here, from ESPN:
It's easy to blame Revis for getting burned on Randy Moss' 34-yard touchdown catch, but there was confusion in the secondary between safeties Eric Smith and Jim Leonhard. Revis apparently was supposed to have deep help on the play. There was none. Even with that glitch, it took a highlight-film catch by Moss to make it a completion.
