6 seed either way, no way we lose to Buffalo if both Jax and Indy win. This team is not an elite team though, they can hardly ever put both their offense, defense and special teams together. Maybe they win at KC or at Indy, but then they got NE...that's going to be comical.

I think they would need a SD loss to clinch today right?

edit: They are 10-5 so if they lose next week and SD wins out they would have the same record. Not sure about the tiebreaker situation.

Scenarios where we play Indy:

Jet wins, Pitt loses, Baltimore wins, KC wins...we are 5 seed.

KC loses, Colts win, Jet wins, Pitt wins...we are 6 seed but Indy becomes the 3.

Pretty much the rest of the scenarios is us as 6 seed at KC, which means New England 2nd round. Guess that doesn't matter, have to beat them at some point.

Who cares if we backed in? If we won we would have been the 6th seed, if we lost we would have been the 6th seed. It's not like we're a team that's going to finish 9-7 that just got plastered in back to back weeks by a division opponent and the team they are fighting for a wildcard spot with that's going to get into the playoffs. 11-5 is nothing to sneeze at but I'm thinking 10-6 because I doubt it if Sanchez plays next week at all.

I like our chances in KC. Thomas Jones doesn't know how to run in January, we know that first hand. If we can stop Charles, we can stop the Chiefs. I'm not worried about Bowe and... who the fuck else catches passes there? But our secondary DOES blow dick. It's bad enough we had to replace Jim Leonhard, our defensive anchor with Eric god damn Smith, but then we replace Smith with Drew Coleman. Not pretty.

Hey, in the playoffs is better than out of the playoffs, right Dolphins?

I like the way we match up with KC. It should be a good game. I'm not expecting to lose, but I'm also not expecting to go in there and walk all over them. Jamaal Charles is they key. Shut him down, shut the Chiefs down. I'm not worried about Bowe because they don't have another guy that we need to look out for... other than Charles out of the backfield... so we'll be able to focus on him. Revis or Cro + some safety help. Our safety play scares me though. They have the ability to make any average receiver look like a pro-bowler. It'll be a good game, I can't say who will win or lose.

What is? I watch their games and see Jamaal Charles facilitating everything. Teams have to respect him when he gets the run game going. Teams have to respect him when he starts catching passes out of the backfield.

he's a big part of it, but i think Matt Cassel is more important than Charles. not better, but more important. without the threat of being able to throw over the top to Bowe, Charles is almost a non-factor. look at the one game that Cassel missed with his apendectomy for proof of that. Charles is definitely a game changer, but they only go as far as Cassel can take them.

I'm more than fine with the way we looked the past two weeks. Way more than fine. If we didn't give up two ridiculously stupid long balls it wouldn't even have been a game. They never put together a decent drive. They didn't have any drives that lasted longer than 3 minutes. We gave up stupid plays. I don't expect the defense to look like that every week.

some people consider clinching a playoff spot by way of losing and needing another team to lose "backing in." to me it doesn't matter how you get there. when you're in, anything can happen. there are plenty of examples of that over the past few years. i'd be more concerned with how my team was playing heading into the playoffs than how they got there. sometime though, the two go hand in hand which gives cause for concern.

I agree. But that doesn't change the fact that we aren't playing that badly. The offense clicked on all cylinders the past two weeks. So did special teams. And during the Steelers game so did the defense. If you think the D you saw against the Bears is the Jets D then the Chiefs are in for a surprise :D

a kickoff return for a TD scares the crap out of me though. Chiefs had a lead in their first game against Oakland and allowed a TD on the opening kickoff of the second half.

i think it'll be a good game, but i just love the Chiefs playing at Arrowhead.

CrashDMB237
12-28-2010, 11:58 AM
A win at Heinz field plus finished the season 6-2 on the road gives me plenty of confidence playing in Arrowhead. It will definitely be a good game. Like I said, I'm not expecting to lose but I'm certainly not expecting to just go in walk away without a fight.

I hope it's 94-3, KC. That'd be awesome. Maybe Sanchez would cry and Fatty Rex would get fired. Then, theyd discuss the need to get rid of the Jets all together, and murder anyone ever having been directly associated with the franchise. New Jersey sports, in general, would follow suit, and the shit-tasticism would stop, in general, in the NFL.

I know what you mean about Peyton. I've been on that train for the past 16 or so hours when everyone keeps texting me "dude you guys get the Colts instead, you're catching them at the best time!"

There is no "best time" to catch Peyton Manning unless he loses a limb. I never want to play him. He can make a 5 yard slant a 70 yard touchdown with the flick of a wrist. But they are very banged up, they have a terrible rushing attack and they have no clue how to stop the run. Shonn Greene is going to be HUGE. He was playing great against them last year until he got hurt.

And what are the chances we throw McKnight in there for a toss/sweep or two? He looked great. Granted the Bills couldn't beat half the college teams in a bowl game this year :lol

Oh those damn lucky JETS! I don't know why it took us a whole fucking half to find our identity, but I'm glad we did. If Schotty could call a fucking game and Mark maybe played like an NFL QB for a minute or two, this would have been blown open. We handed that first half away on a silver platter. Couldn't have asked for much more from our defense tonight and say what you want about Sanchez... the dude finds ways to win games. That last throw to Edwards was a beauty. What's that, his 5th game-winning drive of the year now? It's fun sending Peyton Manning home. We should do that more often.

On to Foxboro... I'm not saying we'll win, but it won't be a blowout.

I'm still fucking baffled at Schotty. We throw the ball 19 times in the first half?! Honestly, what Jet fan off the street couldn't have called a better first half? You have Greene and a rested, healthy LT... yet you let your 2nd year QB try and throw your team to victory? Granted, at least two of the plays should have gone for TDs if Sanchez was awake, but still. It was such an easy game to call, yet fearless leader Schotty fuckin blew it.

He was seriously killing me in the 1st half, I was literally screaming at the tv pacing around my friend's house, haha. Sanchez wasn't helping at all, but he called a good 2nd half, other than the 3rd down bomb, I really thought they should have went for the 1st down. Defense stepped the fuck up, loved how they were only putting 5 in the box. Never saw a Rex defense do that.

Pats defense has only given up more than 7 points once in the past 5 weeks. Jets only put up 17 against a Colts D who gave up over 100 points in the last 5 weeks of the season. Not sure why you would "expect" 20+ other then the fact that you're not really thinking things through.

The difference is, the Patriots have a few more targets than Manning does, and by that I mean different offensive looks. Keep Revis on Welker and you open up Branch, Gostkowski, Hernandez (if he's healthy), etc.

I love the jets and will do anything to stay here. I need the jet nation to speak on my behalf

You know, despite the absolutely retarded drunk driving incident, I've really come to like this dude. I never thought I'd say that either. He has one... ONE drop this year and has made numerous plays when we need them. He's even turned into a team guy. He's stayed after offensive practice to go up against the starting D to give them more realistic looks. We can't let a talented 6'4'' receiver just walk... but then again we can't let Holmes walk either. Hopefully there's a way to keep both because we could have something good going for a VERY long time between Marky, Braylon, Holmes, Keller and Greene.

hbktonyb
01-10-2011, 10:34 AM
I agree with you Steve. Braylon has been playing a lot better this year, dropping minimal passes. The combo of him and Holmes could be lethal for the next few years as Sanchez gets better. I just hope there is some way to keep both of them.

It all depends on the new cap. Luckily we will have the room to keep the bulk of our guys that need new contracts. We WILL have to let someone go though. Cro? Brad Smith? Cotchery? It's going to be interesting. I'd be willing to bet Jason Taylor isn't a Jet next season if we draft a pass rusher (which we'd be absolutely retarded not to with our first rounder).

By the way, Saturday night was the absolute definition of Cro's career. Great coverage, awful coverage. Gives up the only big play of the day, makes the biggest play of the day. He's such a hot/cold guy, it drives me nuts. He's an athletic beast, he's just not all there up top.

I liked seeing Rex chew him out, and then seeing him make the biggest play of the game, the kick return with under a minute left.

I do think Rex is a great coach... but that was the first time I've seen him be a great COACH. Like, a coach to the players in-game. I think he runs a great practice, obviously knows how to inspire and can manage a team full of coaches and make the decisions. But that was the first time he coached a player up mid-game and forced the player to make an adjustment.

Rex press conference on the FAN now...highlights:

It was fun watching the tape against the Colts, especially watching Revis. He is the best player in football. It is amazing to watch that whoever the receiver is, he is never open against Revis.
This week is about Rex Ryan vs. Bill Bellichek. It is personal, he is one of the best coaches ever (not sarcastic) and I did a terrible job a few weeks ago. I got outcoached.
They are probably preparing for the AFC championship game because they already beat us 45-3. No need to prepare (he was kidding).
Q: When are you going to watch tape of the 45-3 game...A: Everyday.
Will come down to me raising my level to beat New England...(huh? While I agree he needs to coach the game better, it is going to come down to the players executing...).
Not sure if Brad Smith will play this upcoming week, but most likely he will.
Q: Do you think they were trying to run up the score? A: Sure, but we would do the same thing. What do you expect them to do, kneel on it when they get the ball? It is our job to stop them regardless of the score.

Good press conference, but he made it too much about him...but he did it because they got killed so bad he didn't want to blame his player.

I'm gonna get slammed for this but I dont care. This win was better than a super bowl for me! didnt see much of the game, or any of the hype this week, was on a cruise, and flight back home left 5:05 and boarded plane at 4:20.

Man oh man though....they could lose 63-0 next week and i wouldnt be THAT upset.

Just an incredible performance. I can't think of a bigger Jet win up to this point in my lifetime. As good as yesterday was and as great as I feel, next week is a must win. Can't go through another AFC championship loss. Going to be very tough and I think the game is a toss up, but gotta get it done.

Jets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a die hard NY Sports fan living in Boston, let me just go out and say that my office is dead silent this morning. After all the over confidence going in to the game and all the smack talk chatter, it has all fizzled out.

What a beautiful thing. Go green baby.

Carton from WFAN said that the Steelers are not talented enough to beat the Jets, so this is the Jets game to lose...and surprisingly almost everyone agreed with him.... that is shocking to me.

CrashDMB237

Carton is a Jets fan though. It's Boomer who is a real cunt. It's like he thinks the Jets owe him something for the shit years he gave us so he bashes them in return.

Well then he is an asshole. The Steelers and Jets are very evenly matched. It will come down to turnovers/mistakes and the play of the Sanchize.

Jets game to lose? That's hysterical. It's funny with the Jets. The players have been walking around swinging their cocks for 2 years now, but I am not sure the fan base ever completely bought in. Like a beaten dog they are afraid to trust, but I am seeing a lot of jumping in with both feet this week. They are begrudgingly trying to act like the team. We'll see how that works out.

I will never completely buy in, until we win it. Any true fan will feel the same way I do. Last week was the 2nd biggest win in franchise history, no doubt about it. But we have to win the next 2.

No excuses... Steelers earned it no doubt. You can't depend on referees to make calls, so you have to play consistent, and Jets didnt, and couldn't overcome the hole they dug.

I'm just curious what calls you thought were bad.

The Cromartie penalty was holding not illegal contact, so it was the right call, IMO, even if Ben was out of the pocket.

Outside of the fumble by Sanchez that was returned, I don't remember any other

hbktonyb
01-23-2011, 10:22 PM
Refs had nothing to do with it. Why did we lose? Easy, our play in the entire first half. Dominated the game in the 2nd half, but too little too late.

Weatherford...sucks. Terrible D against the run. Terrible Sanchez fumble. 2nd and goal on the one? Oh yeah, lets pass, pass, and then run on 4th down.
