After 3-0, all you heard from this coach and the players were how great they were. Sanchez is not impoving at all, he is actually getting worse each game. You can argue that his best 3 games were the first 3 of the year. He makes the same mistakes. Doesn't look like a rookie who is learning when to throw the ball out of bounds. Every year as a Jet fan, it has always been about next year. So the Jets cannot be a rebuilding team until they show they can actually win.
Leon may be out next year, he has a pretty bad break. Braylon will have to be re-signed. TJ is unhappy with his contract and is not getting any younger. And our defense is a joke. Can't shut down anyone anymore. Only bright spot on the team is Revis, he comes to play every week.
leon is on a schedule to be fully recovered for next season. Braylon and woody have already expressed interest in eachother for next season, and our defense has taken some pretty big hits as far as injuries go.
If your biggest problem with mark sanchez is his discipline, not being able to make the smart decision, then i think that is the least of your worries.
and as for seeing this comment coming a mile away, that is because it is the rational way of thinking. when thinking about a team with a qb who has the tallent but not the experience(in both the nfl and college) and a rookie head coach, who also has to deal with a rookie qb, I don't know how much you can honestly expect... you can hope, but realisticaly there are going to be errors made, and sometimes they are going to be large.
as for mark sanchez, who is frustrating to no end, there were some glimmers of what the jets may have in the future. His TD pass to J.Cotchery was perfect and a few other of his passes during the 2nd half required talent for the play to be made. give the guy and rex some time before you call for their heads and another 5 years of rebuilding. sanchez is, i think, 23... just barely too.
it isn't the optimistic jets fan mouthing off... it is one who is looking at things in a realistic manner, for a lack of better words.

Its official, I'm calling for Rex's head and Clemens to start. I'm done. I'm not realistic at all.
i don't see how you are putting this on Ryan... yesterday with a legit qb the jets have a chance to win the game. rex and this franchise are committed to sanchez and his development in hopes that the jets franchise has 10 years of success to come. i also don't see kellen doing any better.
you are right that i don't think you are being realistic... i am frustrated that i have to endure another year of losing football (the season isn't over yet), but calling for a coach to be fired and worried that a rookie qb has set the jets back 5 years is ridiculous. but if that's how you see it, so be it. like i have said before, immediate results are not typical and should not have been expected, regardless of what any coach or player says.
tony dungy's first year as a head coach was a 6-10 year...
hbktonyb
11-23-2009, 03:23 PM
I'm putting it on Ryan because he brought it on himself. I can't stand major shit talking coaches that haven't won a damn thing. He said that "we totally dominated the game" against the Dolphins in the stats...yeah Rex, because the Dolphins didn't have the ball in the 3rd quarter, they were too busy returning kickoffs and pickoffs for int's. He always talks about how good his defense is, but in reality we are a defense that only shows up half the time. If Rex would shut the fuck up, I probably wouldn't put it on him like I am.

It's Ryan's fault because he's such a girl, and girls should not be coaching in the NFL.

Sanchez really needs to watch a Tom Brady press conference and take notes. Why is he so damn cocky and confident in his media appearances. "oh, I feel confident and feel good out there, I just missed a read" Shut up! You suuuuuck and you don't care about the football.
Also rumors in the New York paper that he is partying it up every night...Mr. Rock Star.

I am so sick of that crap. No one ever complains when anyone else scores a ton of points on an opponent. But whenever the Pats do it's all "Oh look they're running up the score, karma's going to come back and bite them in the ass". Herm Edwards said it right "You play to win the game."

There's a difference between scoring a ton of points and blatantly going for it on 4th down or passing the ball when the game has already been decided.

Win or loss, I don't care. I just want to see:
Sanchez limit the mistakes (which he's already done in games before, he just has his rookie moments)
Shonn Greene getting productive touches (which he has been, I just want to see Oakland part 2)
KERRY RHODES GET BENCHED (which already happened thank god, Eric Smith is starting)
Cotchery and Edwards gelling (which they already are)
David Harris and Bart Scott communicating (which hasn't been an issue, I just love watching the two of them)
Playcalling improve (which won't happen until Schotty is fired)

dmbdreamingtree
11-29-2009, 05:49 PM
i think labeling this team a shithole team is a little much... defense is hurt, rookie qb, rookie head coach who is dealing with a rookie qb, etc.
i mean it would be better for rex as a rookie head coach if he inherited a veteran qb, but he has the challenge of developing a qb while figuring things out for himself. He is also putting up with injuries that sets the team back defensively. i think this team looks very promising, but i agree that losing says nothing at all. The fact that new englanders are coming in here to mouth off is priceless.

The hardest part about the season was that the Jets were very good in the beginning of the year, and now they can't even score an offensive touchdown against the Panthers, who gave them the ball 4 times in the game. The Jets should focus on the running the ball the rest of the year (green and jones are a decent tandem) and Sanchez can continue to grow.
It took Eli Manning a few years to grow up from college ball, not everyone is going to enjoy years like Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco had last year. Here's how I see it:
@ Buffalo: W 14-10
@ Tampa Bay: W 24-6
Atlanta: L 28-13
@ Indy: L 35-17
Cinncinati: L 24-21

I don't think the Jets are a playoff team, if thats the impression you are getting you need to reread my posts better. I just think its silly to call a team that is only technically one game out of the wild card spot irrelevant. Do I think they will get it? No. But are they eliminated from playoff contention? No. Irrelevant would be the Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay Bucs, or the St. Louis Rams.

1. I'm glad the Pats lost.
2. The Jets are not in the playoff hunt. You have to add a game for ties, the Jets lose a tie breaker against everyone.
3. The Pats are about 1000X more relevant than us. We haven't been relevant in 40+ years. And the Pats are in first place by 3 games, not 2.

The Bills are really sticking it up the collective asses of their fanbase by:
1. Shipping this game (a division game) to Toronto.
2. Putting this game on NFL network.
So not only can we not attend this game as a homegame. But those of us who have season tickets but don't have DirecTV get double fucked over. I'm soooo fucking tired of this Toronto experiment...

the fact that you are saying this year is misery is interesting...
misery is last year with favre, or losing to the pats in the playoffs when the jets have a dominant half time lead (Vinny and the Jets), or chad needing surgery twice as a jet, or the mangini ride... misery is not gong into a season as a fan and expecting the jets to dominate with a rookie qb and coach. looks like you bought the bullshit that any team sells its fans, and that the jets have been pushing for years... I can take one more shitty year if the outlook is good for years to come... i can do this because one year isn't much compared to the lifetime of garbage jets teams that i have had the misfortune to support.

just one more thing...
if you look at this team further than its record in the interest of seeing how good this team is you would be surprised i think...
filter out the losses caused by mark sanchez (3)
the jets are 8-3 and as it would appear, in first place in the AFC east.
if you smear all of the losses together, a 5-6 record looks bad.
- The jets lost to the pats by 17... the number of points the pats scored off of his turnovers.
- The jets also lost to the Saints by the number of points given up by turnovers.
this is a bright indicator of where the jets can be by the end of this year and ready by the start of next... prepare Sanchez and keep getting better as a team.

Your close (within 3 years) I'm 19, and have been a Jets fan for 14 years now. It sucks to always be about next year, but there has to be exceptions to the rule. As soon as Mangini was fired I knew it was going to be a rebuilding season. Why would anyone expect a rookie headcoach to lead their team to the superbowl? When we drafted Sanchez I figured it would be another 2 years before we did anything. You can't get disgruntled with a team when they have a rookie headcoach and quarterback, thats all im saying. Next year if they do this again, ok i will see what you mean.

4 playoff appearances (two 2nd round appearances and one field goal away from the AFC champ game in 04)
6 winning seasons
16 pro bowlers
4 first team all-pro players
Thats not bad in 9 years for a team that has supposedly been dreadful. Take away one of Chad's 8 injuries and I bet those stats look better.

Initial tests revealed Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez has a sprained posterior cruciate ligament, and if he can handle the pain, he would be able to play Dec. 13 at Tampa, a source close to the situation told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter Friday morning.
Sanchez sprained his right knee Thursday night in the Jets' 19-13 win against the Buffalo Bills in Toronto, when he dived headfirst on an 8-yard scamper up the middle.
That was enough to pick up a first down on the Jets' second possession of the third quarter. And it happened in the same week in which the Jets brought in Yankees manager Joe Girardi to provide the first-round draft pick sliding lessons after Sanchez hurt his left knee in a 17-6 win against Carolina on Sunday.
Jets coach Rex Ryan was visibly upset following the game, after having to watch Sanchez hobble off with a knee injury for the second time in five days.
"Sometimes, the kid's got to understand we're trying to teach him to slide," Ryan said. "I love the kid, but he's got to grow up and understand he represents our entire organization. We want what's best for him."

as of today the jets are:
#1 in rushing offense
#1 in Pass Defense
#1 in Overall Defense
but still #1 in turnovers. 49 points scored against the jets have been runbacks. That doesn't include the the number of short fields the jets have given other teams do to turnovers.
Face it.... The jets didn't draft a 3 year veteran QB. Sanchez is getting better, and the jets have a promising future. Rex Ryan has succesfully injected his brand of play into the jets.

Yeah, I see the Patriots in decline, and other teams like the Jets and Dolphins rising up, which makes the AFC East one of the divisions to really watch in the next few years.
The Bills will always be awful, though.

if you think it is going to take Sanchez three years to be a qb that won't hurt the Jets chances of winning, then i guess you don't think much of him.

If Miami wins today the division is wide open.
I wouldn't call the division wide open...the Jets are still 2 games behind b/c NE holds tiebreaker. And with NE having Carolina, Jax, Buff and Houston, even if we win out, it wont be enough. And the wild card is also out of reach by now, especially with Jax winning today.

Its wide open in the sense that NE or Miami could come away with it now. It still doesn't look good at all for the Jets. Pats just need to get their head out of their ass and win out now.

Reasoning please? I'm not saying we are going to win or have any better of a shot than the Dolphins or Pats, but I don't see how it "doesn't look good at all" for us.

Smart post. Considering Buffalo is in last place. Not to mention the Bills have the 2nd best record out of all the last place teams in the NFL. So what is your point again?

Smart post. Considering Buffalo is in last place.
Hence why I mentioned them?
That being said, if Miami wins next week, and the Pats lose again, the division is all tied up.
Not that is going to necessarily going to happen, that is asking alot of the Dolphins and Panthers.

So then you admit your post made no sense? What do the Bills being in last have to do with the Pats leading the division?

The fact that the Bills are around make life easier for the Pats, well maybe they give them a scare every once in a while (week 1)
hbktonyb
12-06-2009, 07:03 PM
Maybe you can make a case for Miami, but you absolutely cannot make a case for the Jets because they lose every single tiebreaker to both the Dolphins & Pats, and to the wildcard teams.
You also can't make a case for the wildcard. Denver is 8-4 (3 games back) and Jax is 7-5 (2 games back). Dolphins 6-6, Baltimore 6-5, Pitt 6-6. We lose a tiebreaker to every one of these teams.
So, as Jets fans are used to, on to next year.
