Glad to see I'm not alone. I'm a diehard and season ticket holder. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the two signings we made today, von Oelhoffen and Matt Chatham. Its not enough to get me thinking successful season yet but its a huge step in the right direction. Hopefully we can pull off a Ramsey deal. Last I heard we would send Abraham for Ramsey, this years 2nd rounder and their first rounder next year. Thats a fuckin STEAL.

it was a joke, simmer down. you have to know when you start a new thread saying "don't do this.... our fans only..... don't say we suck...." the first thing that's going to happen is every other fan is going to say you suck. go check out the "Kentucky basketball thread" if you want confirmation on that. besides, the only time people go out of their way to tell you suck is if you're actually good, so i wouldn't expect to much action in here from non Jets fans. good night. :)

no problem. i'm a chiefs fan, so i can feel what you've been going through. we've got Herm now, so we'll see how that works out. he seems to do ok when he's not dealing with injuries. hopefully he can coach defense, scoring points hasn't been our problem.

Well I don't think there's a Jets fan out there that truly thinks this team is good. I know I'm a diehard and I'm fully aware of how bad we are. I just think he means the immature 15 year old Giant fans who finally had a good year so they think they can come trash the Jets. Its not needed. We know we suck, don't worry.

I have to say my first live in-person Jets-Fins game was just this past season when we beat you guys down in Miami, so that was fun. And I'm 1-0 against ya! :D

I went to the Jet/Raider game last winter and it was possibly the dullest event I have ever attended. Fact that it was an early game the day after DMB made it even tougher - people didn't like my Tim Brown jersey all that much either! If I had to pick a second favorite team it would be the Jets because they're on every week though! Just don't care enough about football this year!

Yeah, I'd say Mangini is doing a real nice job for you guys this year. I'd expect things to keep getting better and better over the next few years....he's a good coach.

Yeah, Mangini is def taking the team in the right direction.
As long as Pennington can stay consistent, I actually believe we can make a playoff run. I don't know how far we'd go in the playoffs, but just making the postseason would be a great year!

This needs to be up on the front page. HUGE game tomorrow night for us and I have all the confidence in the world right now. All I want for Xmas is a Jet win in Miami on MNF.
You know, even if we don't end up in the playoffs, we have to be thrilled. We were projected to win 4 games. We doubled it already. We had a rookie coach install a brand new defensive scheme and we're in playoff contention in the better conference in the league. Pennington has been healthy ALL season and has played damn well (minus a few games). Our youth looks GREAT. Cotchery and Rhodes are going to be studs. Washington will be solid. There are plenty more, but those are the ones that come to mind.
Either way, and I know its early, it was a damn good season.

The Dolphins QB core is absolutely terrible. I don't know who was worse tonight, Lemon or Harrington. One of the jokes in our newspaper office since there are both Dolphin and Jet fans, is when we feel down on Pennington all we have to do is look at Harrington and we'll feel better.
Leon Washington is a tough little guy. I love him as our RB of the future. He's fast, he has some great moves and he has great hands. Nugent has really come on strong since that debacle in Tennessee week 1. He's 20/21 on FGs, including a few game winners and few 50 yarders. I know we'll probably get bounced in the first round, but wow, what a future we have to look forward to.
The words I spoke just before the 64-yard screen pass:
"I think I'm going to have a heart attack."

I love the media. All you hear today during the Jets' domination of the Raiders was:
"This was not a bad team. They had one bad year. The pre-season predictions were based on last year's 4-12 record, not the talent of the team."
Bullshit. No one picked this team to do ANYTHING this year. You had a quarterback that came off two career-threatening rotator cuff surgeries. You lost your hall of fame running back. You have TWO rookies starting on your offensive line now blocking for your fragile QB and running back-by-committee. You have a first year coach who is 35 years old and has never coached a team before. A new GM.
But yeah, CBS. I'm sure you picked them to go to the playoffs.

Did you just register at Knicks4Life.com recently? I'm the webmaster there:D
And yes, I can see a win. I don't like the idea of playing Tom Brady in NE in the playoffs, but the Patriots as a team don't scare me. I think Maroney is going to run train on us, but I think our corners are going to catch a huge break considering their WRs suck. As long as we can get our offense going, I think we have a shot. Especially since Harrison will either be playing hurt or not playing at all.

Yes indeed! New York for life :bounce
I know everyone says the offense is the key, but to me, I feel like if we stop the run, we can win the game. I want Tom Brady and his merry band of recievers to beat us, and for once, I don't think they have the personel to do it.
CrashDMB237

I agree stopping the run is the key... but I don't see us stopping the run at all. I'm not worried about their recievers. Since we won't stop the run, I think our offense is going to be our best defense. I want to keep the pressure on Brady regardless of how bad his recievers are, but I just can't see us stopping the run.

Sure, you can say if you decided to suck, that's fine. But other than New England, name one legit team that the Jets played and beat. If I'm not mistaken, the only hard games of the Jets season was Indy, Pats, Chicago, Jacksonville, and they lost three of those four games.
I just don't get how someone can think that Chad Pennington et al. even have a slight chance against the ridiculousness that the Patriots are in the post season..that is, unless they go to Denver, but we don't have to worry about that taking place.
Good to know also that "owning" = 3 points :)

We barely lost to the Colts and we held the Bears pretty tight as well. I don't care who we played, the bottom line is, when people looked at that schedule before the season, they said 4 wins. We won 10. Nothing changed midseason. It was still the same team playing the same schedule that everyone thought would give them no more than 4 wins. We completely exceeded any expectations.
And owning to me means the best coach in the division getting beaten by the youngest coach in the NFL who was his former student coaching a team that was supposed to be one of the worst in the league on his home turf.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not preaching that the Jets are the better team, but its foolish to overlook what we accomplished this season.

Who said four wins when looking at that? Didnt you guys play the entire NFC North, which should be three wins guaranteed, not to mention everytime you play the bills, houston, oakland, or cleveland. (I would say Miami, but we all know them as the NFL spoiler.) So that's at LEAST a record of 7-9....four wins? Huh? Wait, are these the same people who said Miami was going to the Super Bowl?
And with the way the Pats played at that game, i'm pretty sure I would have been able to beat them had I been the coach of the Jets :lol or anyone, for that matter! I'm not saying the Jets have sucked or don't deserve to be in the playoffs (its not like they are in only cuz two teams lost or something). Sunday is gonna be good, that's all I know :)

Wow, sounds just like her coach. The Jets weren't picked to win 4 games all year. No sense in trying to re-write history. It's just not debatable.
A quarterback coming off two career-threatening surgeries on his throwing shoulder. A brand new head coach, who has never coached a team before. A brand new GM. The loss of your hall of fame running back. The loss of the best center in the NFL. Two rookies on the offensive line blocking for a runningback-by-committee.
They were picked to win no more than four games. The Bills are a good team, Houston beat who? Oh, Indy. And don't we all know - the NFL is a parity league, as in, on any given day, any team can beat anyone.
So spout off all you want if you actually know what you're talking about. But since you don't, do us all a favor and stick to your Patriots Classless Thread. :)

Dude, I'm giving the Jets credit and admitting that I thought they'd win more than four games before the season starts, so what the hell? Houston beat Indy, yeah, but Indy is ridiculously overrated. The pats beat Houston by like 70484.4 points, so what? It is a game of any given Sunday, but seriously, I have no clue what kind of moron would say that the Jets only had a chance of winning four games this season....because hellshit, pop warner leagues could probably beat at least two of the three teams in the NFC North. (slight sarcasm, in case you didn't notice.)
If all those "losing people" threatens how a team will supposedly perform, how the hell did the Patriots make the playoffs this season AND last season? Losing both coordinators, not to mention the MVP of SuperBowl 39, a lot of defensive depth and one of the best NTs in the league at the time. And yet for some reason, no one said the Pats were going to suck. My point is just that the Jets did well this season, no one is saying they didn't, but to think that they were only going to win four games? Seriously? If you actually believed that, please stop watching ESPN or whatever "expert" you rely on.
And I'M the person who has no class and knows nothing? Seriously.

I have never seen someone get so offended when someone thinks highly of their team!
"Katie, I KNEW the pats were going to go 12-4 this year!"
"What are you, RETARDED?!?!?! Everyone thought they were going to SUCK! how DARE you tell me something like you figured they wouldn't be anything but horrible! Why are you SO DUMB??"
"uhhhhh......?"
If you actually believed that, please stop watching ESPN or whatever "expert" you rely on.
And I'M the person who has no class and knows nothing? Seriously.
Actually, as a Jets fan and someone who follows the team, I thought they'd win maybe 3 games all year. If you followed them, you would know what expectations were going into this year. Read any publication from 4 months ago that talks the NFL, and you'll see a similar trend.
I'm such a huge fan of the, "I'm not saying x, but...x" argument. You can't make a point of something, such as "And with the way the Pats played at that game, i'm pretty sure I would have been able to beat them had I been the coach of the Jets," and then protect yourself from it by saying, "I'm giving the Jets credit." Please. The whole reason I called you out here was because you were rolling your eyes at the Jets accomplishment this year and calling the win at Foxborough a fluke.
If you'd like to continue to embarass yourself, by all means, reply back. But yes, thus far, you've shown no class, and haven't really enforced the notion that you know anything about what you're talking about.

uhh the patriots also played the worst conference...not like i'm sitting here saying that the 12-4 was a big feat. If the Pats had a good season, they should have been 14-2 or 15-1. I'm not bragging about the Patriots because quite frankly, I think they have sucked up to this point.

Who knows on either of them. Kellen never had a chance to play with an actual offensive line, and still won't get a shot to play with actual receivers. At least this year he'll have the line to give him a few seconds to make a good pass rather than rush himself into an awful one. And Ainge, reports out of training camp so far have him looking great, and he's a smart smart kid. He's got Kellen's arm and Chad's football IQ, plus size.

Don't worry... they'll be back in the spotlight when Eli Manning goes back to sucking at life and passing the ball. No way in hell are they touching the play-offs this season, mark my damn words.

The Jets will get the last AFC wild card because of this move. Look at the schedule:
@ Miami
New England
@ San Diego
Arizona
Cincy
@ Oakland
Kansas City
@ Buffalo
St Louis
@ New England
@ Tennessee
Denver
@ San Francisco
Buffalo
@ Seattle
Miami
There's no reason with the acquisitions of Favre, Jenkins, Gholston, Faneca, Woody, Pace and Woolfork that this team won't make a push for the post season.

I see a maximum of 11 wins, but with all the parity in the NFL who knows how things will shape up from season to season. They could only win 6.

I don't think we are at all. We were expecting 8-8 with Kellen under center, which is very attainable considering our schedule and our vast improvement.. We just replaced him with one of the top QBs in the game, so 10 wins is not out of the question at all.

I don't think 10 wins is likely, although with the parody in the NFL, you're right that it is not out of the question. It's not just on here, but I've heard "Super Bowl" and "playoff lock" thrown around. That is what I'm referring to.

Right now, they should be favorites in the 10 bolded games. I wouldn't be surprised to see them beat NE at home, Tennessee or Denver. They will probably also lose a couple they should win. My guess is they go 9-7, 10-6, maybe 11-5 and get a wild card birth.
Without Brett, they would be fortunate to win 8.
Also, New England's defense is going to struggle all year with old linebackers and no Asante Samuel.

the jets two big issues last season were at the qb position and the offensive line...
last year every game we lost, was lost in the fourth quarter, by either three or seven points.
we fixed our offensive line, got a qb... so what are you trying to say? that we some how subtracted the talent and success of our team by adding talent and proven success to the team?

:thumbsupThe o-line will be top 5 in the league with the additions of Faneca and Woody. Solid running game and receivers, the offense will be fine. The defense also got a good bit better.

you don't know football
Every single god damn "system" is the same, just everything is named something different. One play is called something on Green Bay, the same play is called something else in Tampa, then something else in NJ. It's a matter of when you call it. I know you'll just respond with "you don't know football" again, because that's what people with no backup evidence do.
