Okay guys. I have heard of Dixie. I have heard of swing (Kansas City, NY for example). I have heard of Bebop. Cool. Free. Jazz Fusion. I have never heard of a purported sub-genre of IMPROV JAZZ... and certainly not from a credible source. There is someone who in DMBc is making the claim that not only does this particular subgenre exist, but American Baby Intro has tons in common with it. I, for one, cannot see how a song can have anything in common with a genre of music that does not exist... but maybe I am wrong... does a specific subgenre of JAZZ called IMPROV Jazz really exist? Can you list me some credible sources???
Thanks!

Yes, in fact, the only form of music ever associated with Jazz that doesn't contain improv is Big Band Style Swing w/out improv, such as Glen Miller Orchestra.
But someone is asserting that like Bop, Cool, and Fusion, there is a subgenre of music called Improv Jazz and he believes this because his high school jazz teacher (named Mr. Dinklepants or something) appearantly may or may not have made this claim. But WNUR from Northwstern University is certainly not recognizing this style on their flowchart, and I am not seeing any other comparable institution or high powered musician (i.e. Wynton Marsalis) talking about it...
