i have a d35 that i will probably use to start playing live with...only problem is that there is only then end peg, ie, no strap pin on the neck-end of the guitar. i would like to get one installed, similar to where taylors have them coming out.

i'm a little wary of that whole shoe-string tied underneath the strings behind the nut thing...seems like it would put some stress on the joints or something...anyone know about this?

It is easy. I did it myself. Buy a peg, and make sure you get a felt washer to put around it. Ask a guy at a guitar store and he will help you out.

Drill a little pilot hole, just a little smaller than the actual screw that will be going in. Once the pilot hole is drilled, just screw the peg in with your fingers, but make sure not to screw it too tight because you could crack the wood.

Not hard to do at all.

i wouldn't recommend doing it yourself. guitar stores do it all the time and it's quick and cheap. i don't think it's worth the hassel of doing it yourself, and there's always the chance you'll fuck it up.

If you don't know how to use any kind of tools, definately don't do it yourself. But if you do, it is easy as can be.

ya def have a guitar tech do it...you don't want to ruin a nice piece of wood...for a small hole its cheap and definately affordable

I had mine done a few months ago. Costs about 8 bucks. Its a 1000 times better than tying at the top. I wouldnt have wanted to do it myself.

yeah, but it's a D-35. For 10 bucks, I would have someone who's done it before do it for me.

I believe Martin uses a dovetail neckjoint on D-35's? Someone correct me if I am wrong, but as mentioned above, it won't be a problem for a tech to do it quickly if this is the case. Where you can run into problems is with bolt on necks such as Taylor, because there is hardware to avoid hitting with the screw. Regardless, any tech who knows whats up can avoid problems in either situation. Oh, and if you have sam ash stores nearby and are planning on using them to do this, forget it. I bought my guitar there and they still tried to charge me 35 bucks to get this done and I would have had to leave the guitar with them for a week. I laughed in their face and walked out.
