Great show. Three encore songs!! Two of which were new tunes. Played a few crowd pleasers (ants, satellite, crash). I prefer the old stuff - say goodbye, etc. I really appreciate hearing Louisiana Bayou since I was on my way back from new orleans - devastating stuff down there. have a great tour!

Welcome to Ants. When this show becomes availible, a link will surely be posted here. Even though many shows come out within a few days, it is still considered polite to wait for 2 weeks before asking about the availibility of a show.

the same tapers don't hit up every show. we do have jobs outside of taping, not all of us can get a tape up within 2 days of the show. give it time, it'll show up. :)

Okay so apparently I'm completely computer illeterate so any help would be greatly appreciated. I was at the show in Charlotte on Tuesday, but got wasted long before he came on in the VIP lounge and unfortunately, only remember Smoothrider. (Although I did great on my setlist game with my friends because I hear he played the five songs I guessed!)
I downloaded the bit torrent from Azurus or whatever, but I have no clue why I'm still unable to get any shows. I really want this one when it comes around, if it hasn't already.
I would love some help!

I thought my response was polite and I'm going to try to extend you the same courtesy.
Maybe things like the Summer 2006 Downloads thread in DMBc wouldn't be shut down if people followed the rules and were a little nicer to one another.
If we don't follow the rules on the front page of this forum which say things like "This forum is for source discussion only!" and "Direct all reviews and comments about the actual show to the respective thread in the Tour Discussion Forum" and, my personal favorite, "Don't make yourself look stupid by not following these simple guidelines," we're going to ruin the experience of being DMB fans and drive people away from the most popular fan site.
Excuse me for being cranky because I would like a thread about source discussion to be about source discussion, not narcissistic whining about "Is this out yet?" and "I hope Crumbo was there!" and "This show was awesome! Lie in Our Graves totally rawked!"
As I see the contradiction in posting something in this thread that does not regard source discussion, this is the only response you're going to get from me on this matter because I choose not to further bog down this thread.

I have the show - great pull with one exception - MicroTracker battery died during Tripping Billies and backup did not kick in - If anyone else got the show and is not happy with their pull but has Tripping - I could certainly put together the complete show.. Let me know..

I have the show - great pull with one exception - MicroTracker battery died during Tripping Billies and backup did not kick in - If anyone else got the show and is not happy with their pull but has Tripping - I could certainly put together the complete show.. Let me know..

it'll come out. we had to wait what, 6 months for 09.03.03 and it took two months (ish) for 10.08.04
...it'll come out just give it some time.
(i hate posting this cause this threads only supposed to be for source discussion but i think thought this post would give the newer ants a feel for what wait times are sometimes like, and how truly lucky we've been this tour.)

I wish some of these great tapers from other shows like Crumbo would travel to the NC shows. This is just sad that in an area where DMB has been playing since the early 90's, we don't have a complete source of a show 2 weeks later.

There are other versions of this show, from folks I know personally and they will make it out....and knowing what the next step is, no one bother PM'ing or emailng me asking for it...it will get out when it gets out.

:rolleyes Well you have to understand that when every other show gets out, it's hard not to ask for it. I havent yet, but the last two summer shows I have gone to havent gotten out. ATL 05 and now this. It fucking SUCKS, but I don't ask for it. But it is very frustrating. I can't come here though and ask for it, because I didn't tape it.

Nick, in people's defense that are asking for the show (including myself), we don't understand the process of taping. We see that there is a show and then the next day there is a torrent out. Sure that's a ridiculously amazing turnaround, but I guess it's human nature to expect all shows to come that fast. It was just worrisome that there were possible problems with the other tapes and that we'd never get a complete source. It's relieving just to know there's other sources. I personally really appreciate you sharing that info. :thumbsup

it takes i'd estimate about 3 hours of actually working on a show to get it mastered, tracked, write up the text file, flac/shn it, etc and get a torrent running. that's if you don't listen to it at all to check for errors, etc. yes, that's an estimate but what seems to be forgotten around here is that tapers have lives too. those of us that get the shit out the next day, well, we're dumb and typically sacrifice our sleep/party/whatever time (some of us do have to get up for work at 6am the following day afterall) in order to get the shows out for the masses. i'm not saying people in the community aren't grateful, but it should be understood that not everyone is a psycho that will run on 2 hours of sleep just to get a show out the same night. some tapers actually have priorites over getting a show out asap, like say, their families.
ok, resume your crumbo fluffing :)

people make the assumption that every time we tape that it's ok, yet most of you never try to stop the beachballs, the drunk idiots, etc. some of you do, so thanks...
but there's a lot more to it than setting up mics and turning on the recorder. a lot of us have full-time, if not more than 1 job like myself, and just don't always have the time to work on shows for a while after a show.
and sometimes, the recordings get messed up.
you may have SEEN 3 tapers, but maybe only 1 of the recordings came out. it isn't as cut and dry as people make it seem.

Crumbo wasn't fucking there. Crumbo is not going to go to shows just because you want a copy of them. dont' you think maybe he goes to shows for himeslf, and tapes because he enjoys it, not because he has hundreds of people harassing him about it?
a tape will surface, tapers have lives, you know, familes, jobs, they don't just get paid off daddy's trust fund like most of you spoiled kids. they'll get the tapes out when they have the time for it. Their #1 goal is not "making antsmarching.org members happy - and it will never be. so deal with it.

I wasn't asking for the show. I just said it does kinda suck that the two summer shows I have been too last have had problems coming out. NO ONE can argue that that isn't a bummer. I have never asked for the show ro whatever. Some of you need to wake up and learn how to fucking read. I have patience, the show will come out when it comes out, I still don't ask. I never asked for the ATL show either, and that still isn't out, but I'm still waiting like a fool.

Take it easy, guys. It's threads like this that remind me why I don't really care much about taping anymore. And I'm sure that goes for a lot of the other tapers that have been around for a while. This stuff just isn't my priority anymore. Hell, I haven't even burned and listened to one of my own tapes for about two years now. Supplying them to the ungrateful members of on-line message boards is the least of my concerns. Making them available to the handful of people who understand and care is really the only reason I even still bother ... and I really have to wonder how much longer that will last.
The bottom line: tapers spend thousands of dollars each year, invest huge amounts of time, and work very hard to produce these tapes every tour. And they get nothing in return. That's right ... NOTHING. Think about it.

Will they do dreamingtree or etree? If you talk to them, please pass along my gratitude for them taping that night. I usually thank the tapers I see at shows but I arrived late to this particular show.

Guess, what... I taped this show, I was closest to the PA, I have it converted, but I have not had time to even burn it to CD let alone upload it.
I am in a hotel room in PA (doing 2 non DMB shows for the Mrs), and she gets 1st priority over any other person or request, PERIOD.
For the record, there were 3 stands and only 3 stands (others are part of the soundboard rig, so ignore them). 1 is out, 1 is mine, 3rd was center and head-height, so you-all will complain about the crowd noise levels, so I doubt it will ever come out).
To chime in on other comments, in no order:
* stop whining, or tapers will get pissed off
* supply us with gear, tickets, travel time/money, time off from work/life/wifes/girl friends/kids (and for the few female tapers husbands/boy friends) and I bet we can convert faster... oh yea, and pitch in for a T1 to our houses for faster torrents. Sound unrealistic, so do all of you in this thread
* takes me 5-7 hours per show to convert, as I try to clean up any hick-ups, normalize the levels so it sounds balanced and clean, burn the original WAV files, to DVD, and CD... and then backups just in case
Bottom line, this is never an easy process (tix, travel, recording, converting, uploading), so be patient, wait until things are released, then discuss, and NEVER BITCH
If you want to bitch, then go do it to yourself in the mirror, as tapers dont want to hear it.
For those of you who feel the need to PM me, go for it, I know where the delete key is.
For those of you who want to discuss this like adults, I am on the road for another 24 hours and then I will need to sleep a few hours, be a Dad and then probably catch up on the thread on Sunday night. Can't wait that long to get me to reply, TOO FUCKING BAD

I was very happy with the show and the fact that I heard 3 songs I never heard before (JTR, Pay for what you get, and Proudest monkey) as far as old songs are concerned. I would like to download this show whenever it is possible.

i don't even know what is going on with this show but i can tell everyone that the community ruins the "experience" for those tapers who have enjoyed taping over the years and spreading the music we all grew up trying to find on Maxell tapes using Prodigy Internet and the United Postal Service. The interaction/quest to find the music and shows was part of the fun, now it is just something people demand, not to mention do not help with at all.
start enjoying the music and help those that tape get the show taped, we don't always get the seats we need and very rarely are people willing to trade seats so that we can all enjoy the show afterwards with a tape. everyone can come home and hide behind a computer and not worry about what really happened at a show but think about it next time you are at the show.
just be happy you dont have shows labeled as Tape 1 and Tape 2 with flips on each anymore :)-

Too true, and pretty funny considering the band is running in stereo this year, and finally, a centered rig *would* sound the best of any. It's just too bad the average (non-AM.org) DMB fan gets as plowed as a Parrothead and tries to call every one of their friends over the noise of the band on stage. Tapers wouldn't have to run from the front row and 20' up if the audience would just pay some respect to the musicians on stage!!
Last question - Why does every cheap beer drinking asshole think a light stand will save their drunk ass from falling over? They can barely hold up the mics, how are they going to keep your fat ass from smacking into the pavement?

i honestly don't see the big deal. i mean the show is available except for tripping billies which, at the concert, sounded exactly the same as most live recordings of tripping billies...i appreciate whoever taped the show...it's an awesome recording.

I think this is a really solid tape, everything sounds crisp. You can hear the crowd talking a little in between songs but during the songs you can't hear them which is what matters. I actually enjoy hearing the crowd talk during song breaks, adds a little IMO.

That being said, with proper playback (non IPOD), tapes like these will sound more realistic, and imo, be a better listen than stack tapes...

I agree with Nick, I am listening on headphones and this tape sounds very good. I really don't hear the crowd during the songs other than when JTR starts up and someone screams "finally!" about 3 seconds in.

I'm downloading the third source and it's stuck at 87%... great speeds and then, boom... dead. I think there is only one seeder at this point.
At any rate, what's the word on the best source?

This one and the second source sound good, they are both on dreamingtree. DDTW and PNP seem to be done on this one and i listened to it and it sounds good. The reason why this one is slow is that the taper is the only one seeding so it's going to take a while. Hopefully it should be done by tomorrow.

Take it easy, guys. It's threads like this that remind me why I don't really care much about taping anymore. And I'm sure that goes for a lot of the other tapers that have been around for a while. This stuff just isn't my priority anymore. Hell, I haven't even burned and listened to one of my own tapes for about two years now. Supplying them to the ungrateful members of on-line message boards is the least of my concerns. Making them available to the handful of people who understand and care is really the only reason I even still bother ... and I really have to wonder how much longer that will last.
The bottom line: tapers spend thousands of dollars each year, invest huge amounts of time, and work very hard to produce these tapes every tour. And they get nothing in return. That's right ... NOTHING. Think about it.

I was thinking about getting into taping but when I got to looking at the cost I quickly changed my mind. Eric is right, the time and money spent by the tapers is huge. I couldn't do what he does unless I were independently wealthy; I don't know how he can find the time to do this. Most of the shows I have were recorded by Eric and I appreciate every show. If there were multiple tapers at the show, I will download his first without hesitation. I was watching him record at a show and it was clear that he spent much of the show not enjoying it but tending to his equipment to ensure that the recording was of the highest quality. For what it's worth, I shook his hand and thanked him profusely for what he does. If appreciation from fans of his shows were payment enough then he would be a millionaire but appreciation has no monetary value. Fans who download, trade and offer B&P's of tapers shows probably do seem to be ungrateful; it's easy to take for granted what Eric and the other tapers do. It's kind of like oxygen, you don't appreciate it until your drowning. Eric is among the elite of tapers and has worked incredibly hard to provide us all with the music we love so much. I hope he doesn't stop what he does so well in the near future but I would understand if he did. Eric, I personally want to say thank you for what you do. Everyone who has one of his shows should do the same.
