How does it sound Chris?

Mike's is a solid recording, there's some crowd noise but the band sounds pretty full. Definetly not bad for his 2nd or 3rd tapes. Definetly worth the download (IMO).

Rapunzel88
06-04-2006, 10:07 PM
I listened to Mike's sample of #40 and the crowd noise isn't bad at all aside from the fans yelling right at the beginning at a unneccessary high level.
Since Mike's source has a cut Jimi Thing due to the disc change, he's going to try and get permission to splice in from another source and fix it, then will repost it.

Rapunzel88
06-04-2006, 10:16 PM
Update: Mike Peter's 6/3/06 source has been taken down from dreamingtree. I'm assuming it's due to the cut Jimi Thing but this is unconfirmed

so which one is best?
There's only 1 source on dreamingtree as of now.
The other source is on dimeadozen. I have this guys tape from 6/2 and there's a decent amount of crowd noise, but hopefully it's not a trend with that taper.

its gunna be kinda annoying having to listen to all 5 shows to see what's the best of each

Farkus
06-05-2006, 06:23 PM
That is specifically why dreamingtree offers samples of each show, so that you can listen to a snippet of one song and see which source you like best. They even have the exact same sample of each song from each source so you are comparing apples to apples, so to speak.

So between Drews and Ice, which is better?

I am comparing d1t3 on both (Grey Street). I am having a REALLY hard time. They both did such an awesome job!!!

Heavy As Stone
06-10-2006, 04:14 PM
I am actually having a lot of trouble deciding. I think that Drews source sounds a bit muffled in comparison at parts, but sometimes I think that he captured all the sound better. I started comparing other tracks, btw. Anyone else have an opinion. I don't know if I can decide.

I am having a lot of trouble deciding. I am leaning towards Ice, though. But there are parts where Drews is better, I will give it that. Anyone else care to weigh in? I feel like everyone already got Drews and have like given up on other pulls. Nobody is replying on dreamingtree either.

Notes:

Thanks to Craig Willoughby for the tickets.

Heavy crosswinds for the much of the evening, and the pavilion of the venue is open-air to its sides. Given seats near the center aisle stageleft, mics were positioned to aim outward from the stage toward the cone of the stack. The axes of the microphones intersected the wind vector at approximately 45 degrees, and the gusts at times compressed the microphone diaphragms and caused a slightly compressed low end in passages. Though not immediately audible, understand no compression has been applied to this recording. I have confirmed the likelihood of this phenomenon with DPA mic techs. Slightly audible high end phasing can also be detected due to wind.
