on top of the search function, you could also attempt to locate the apostrophe key on your keyboard. it's right in there by the "enter" key. you used it in conjunction with the "shift" key in order to create those quotation marks.

Here's a nice read for the asshole who doesn't use capitalization, yet criticizes over apostrophes:

That wasn't carter making those scratching sounds, that was Fonzi messing around with his bass.

It was an attempt, if I'm right, to make some monkey sounds during the end of Proudest Monkey.

He had a couple toys out at the end of Seek Up on Saturday. That might be what you're thinking of.

They were somewhat bell shaped and were and off-white color.

well, i can't really recall seeing him do anything random on that song, but he has a little table of stuff to use whenever. maybe a cabasa or shaker, or claves or something.

He does that scratching sound in the begining of The Stone on the Weekend At The Rocks album. I'm guessing it's a Ddrum electronic pad as I've seen 2 on his kit so far. As for other percussion "toys" he has are, Cowbell, Jamblock, Agogo bells, timbals, chimes, and a Jamblock set. I recenlty heard him using a triangle.

At night two of Pittsburgh during ABI, he had some time of instrument that was hollowed out in the middle that he was using. He was scratching the inside with some type of stick and it gave off a pretty cool sound. I had never seen it used before.

it may be the LP Monk Bells, but im not sure

I think what you all are talking about its a drum with a stick running through the drum head. It is called a guico or something similar. Carter uses it to make a monkey type sound. Have you ever had a soda straw make a sound against a lid. Well it's similar.

these are some of the hand instruments that i have seen carter start to use in the last 2 years...if you want more info on what they look like and what they do i think all you have to do is google them.

first...the one that doc420 is talking about is a Cabasa. it is like a wide cylinder with a handle. the cylinder is lined with a bumpy metal surface. the cylinder is wrapped with rows of metal beads which the users holds against their hand while spinning the instrument back and forth with the other hand on the handle. it creates a chiii chiii sound...thats the best written out sound effect i could come up with. i attached a picture of one.

others are:
Monk Bell
Chequere (also spelled Shekere)
Guiro (which was what jimi47 was talking about)
Egg Shakers
Hand Held Castanets
Maracas
Triangle

I hope this helped

Doc, I apologize on behalf of the other members for the asshole response in here. Feb 2006 smarts off to Jan 2005 and says "welcome to ants" = asshole response.

The item in question is in the photo that is attached. Carter uses it at the end of Proudest Monkey to create the "monkey like" sounds. I'm currently trying to find out what it's called.

I didn't mean to come off as an asshole. I didn't look at what year he joined. My posts were in complete sincerity. You've taken it the wrong way.

carter probably gave them a mean drum solo during a trip.. then they gave him a gift

Yeah I think he went back to the motherland before the summer tour to get in touch with his roots.

Excellent work! The one Carter uses isn't made by LP because their cuica drum is much larger. I wonder where he got it from.
