Interesting kick off to Musikfest weekend....

Friday night Tara and I went down late to the fest. My house is even closer than i thought it was! Walked around a bit went back to our house, then headed to a bar... on the way i backed up into a dumpster by my apartment (not drunk, just a dumbass, it was in the shadows of the building so i couldn't see it, and i don't really stay at my apartment often so i forgot it was there... no harm though, only a small micro scratch in my bumper) So then we went to this bar and saw this awesome band Post Junction, danced a lot like drunken nancy, I got T-rashed (it needed a capital T, see the cute pic of me, Tara, and Dana though!)... I sort of remember doing a shot of Jameson... i have no idea why on earth i would decide to do that. Then i went home to Aaron's, proceeded to say lots of random things that made no sense (apparently i was explaining to aaron that A squared equals G, and G comes after A in the alphabet... i said for future reference when i start doign math with numbers it's time to put me to sleep), puked i think... So i guess? i went to bed around 2 AM, then woke up at 8 to waitress at the breakfast place around the corner... still trashed off my ass. i was stumbling and falling all over the place still, but everyone else that came in was too! hahaha i love musikfest time, it's like the whole town is on a 10 day bender.
:monkey
So i survived Saturday morning... went back festing Saturday night, had a fun time walking around, listened to this VERY cool Native American band that played a lot of wooden pan pipe dealy-s. Tara and I concurred they should guest with DMB hehehehe. then took the bus home which is also an interesting experience when 30-40 drunk people are stuffed into a moving vehicle. Then Aaron and I partied with some of the people on his block... we usually don't hang out with many of the neighbors, just kind of sit outside and watch the drama, our neighborhood's crazy. Watched some trashed 14 year old try to hit on all my friend Jimmy. I passed out but then apparently Aaron went up to the construction up the street and chased people around with hay bales... there was hay all over the streets the next morning. Also they then tried to rip out a street light and got chased by said 14 year olds mom cause she was pissed she was drunk (not our fault she was drunk when we got there, damn kids and their booze).

All in all an interesting weekend... and the fest keeps on gonig till next sunday!:D

most people don't...YET! 312 sterling ave is where a few of us in this thread live - myself, mcnastee23, and specialkay24. others have been visitors of the 312, and since many good times were had there, george (georifer) made an appreciation thread. we all met on ants and have become great friends in real life, so this is a convenient place for us to keep in touch since we live 4 hours away from each other.
perhaps this summary should be saved for future reference... to send to new 'members'? thread-goers?

we got home around midnight... i am very tired today!

i called my mom and she is bringing my bike to us today so we didn't have to take the detour to grandma's house! thank god because we probably wouldn't have gotten home until 2 if she said no!

you guys have to visit DMBc sometime, there is so much drama going on. with all of the arguments i've been reading i just want to say that i love you guys and you have all made my summer the best so far! i know we will be friends for years to come, and i love that DMB is not the glue that keeps us together, but just an added bonus.

yeah we are all some really great people...even if some of us are from out of this country

This is what I would like to do

First we need to have a head count then I can scope out the park and find some kick ass sites together...it's a first come first serve deal...I think two sites would be enough for like 10 people so hopefully me and Matt can go claim two spots on Friday morning...or maybe even Thursday evening..that would be the best. Then everyone else can come when they can and I'll have everything set up

Aiight... well I believe that I'll be in for the weekend.. Provided I can get the vacation time booked. What I'd likely do is either go to the 312 Thursday night (depending on what's going on with them of course) and if they have to work friday, I'd likely just head to see either you or "Marmy" in PA and follow you there!

I'll try to book the vacation tomorrow and let you know what's up!

312 girls and XFers...

i've got an idear. :devil i know it's probably not doable on such short notice, but hear me out...since we all tentatively have labor day weekend open for camping at Nelson Ledge's, maybe we can think about the Moe Down music festival in turin, NY? it's the same dates, september 1-3..

PROS:
-the music! bands are as follows.....
Moe
Mike Gordon and Ramble Dove
Page McConnell with Jon Fishman, Adam Zimmon, Jared Slomoff and Rob O'Dea
Umphrey's Mcgee
Grace Potter and the Nocturnals
Banyan featuring Stephen Perkins
The Avett Brothers
U-Melt
Moonshine Still
Toubab Krewe
Tim Easton
Yolk
Pat McClimans Group
Before Cowboys
Mike Rocklin
Spaghetti Cake (Kids' Jamband)
Whiskey Mae

- if we buy tickets before august 12, it's only $35 more than nelson ledge's! $95 may be a lot to come up with such short notice, but i think the extra $35 is worth it for all the music!

cons:
-really the only thing i can think of is the distance...and more driving converts to more gas $ :( it's the same distance as nelson ledge's for us buffalonians, but tags on an extra 3 hours for you PA people. sharon, PA to turin, NY = 6.5 hours, and for marmy and morgan it's 7 hours away. oh, and burlington to turin = 5 hours (according to mapquest, but not stevequest).

here's the website: http://www.moe.org/moedown.php

so, do you guys think i'm crazy or is this plausable at all? feel free to :twak me

I'm sure moedown will be a blast but for me Nelson's Ledges is only like 45 minutes away. True there will be a lot more music at moedown but it is a lot more expensive for me...$35 a ticket and a 6-1/2 hr drive...and then back...that's another $100 easy in gas

I've never seen Dark Star Orchestra but they tour the nation and from what I understand it is the next best thing to seeing the Grateful Dead and I like the GD 100x more than I like moe.

And last but not least is the beautiful water it was so great just swimming in the water listening to the music with my head resting on a life jacket and my feet floating in some crocs...just floating around in the water...laid back with my mind on some music and some music on my mind

But do what you want they both will be great times...Nelson's Ledges will just be a lot cheaper

i don't know how to put music on myspace, sorry! i actually don't like the myspace music thing, it always catches me off guard and forces me to listen to songs i don't want to, usually when i'm already listening to something else. the only time i like is it when someone's representin' DMB...which is what you were probably going to do, eh?

Hey Cara... I figured it out and if you want to represent some DMB on your myspace, let me know and I'll show you how to do it!;)

You got it!

I just want to change it off of Lover Lay Down... I want something more upbeat!

yeah how about I created a band and uploaded #40...for some reason I named it angel...forgot that dmb had a song called that already but he mentions an angel in the song so I thought it an appropriate alternate title

I'm sure moedown will be a blast but for me Nelson's Ledges is only like 45 minutes away. True there will be a lot more music at moedown but it is a lot more expensive for me...$35 a ticket and a 6-1/2 hr drive...and then back...that's another $100 easy in gas

But do what you want they both will be great times...Nelson's Ledges will just be a lot cheaper

We found out last night that morgan has a game that saturday so we won't be able to make it to nelson's ledges until 5pm or so on saturday... that means that as much as i would love to go to moedown and search for mike we would never make it there in time :mad

for us pennsylvanians, it would be way more gas money and i bet that we'd have to pay for morgan and moedown (she is free at nelson's ledges)

I've never seen Dark Star Orchestra but they tour the nation and from what I understand it is the next best thing to seeing the Grateful Dead and I like the GD 100x more than I like moe. dark star looks great, but i remember two things to :thumbsdow about the music at NLQP: 1) the bands didn't play long or late and 2) the stages were tiny

And last but not least is the beautiful water it was so great just swimming in the water listening to the music with my head resting on a life jacket and my feet floating in some crocs...just floating around in the water...laid back with my mind on some music and some music on my mind i figure we're going to be doing that anyway at our picnic on the 20th..we're still on for that, right? NLQP is open for swimming all summer, whereas moedown only happens once a year. i'm not a big swimmer anyway. :p

But do what you want they both will be great times...Nelson's Ledges will just be a lot cheaper i'll have to talk to the girls and see where they stand. there's still plenty of time to decide...and either way, we'll still be driving there for the picnic. both will be fun, yes; i just think moedown is more bang for your buck.

Morning 312ers! Got back from NYC last night...what an amazing trip. I didnt want to leave at all, did all the touristy things (that I never got to do the 2 times I went there) and got to see some absolutely awesome DMB shows. IMO, night 1 was better than night 2, the run from So Right on was just disgusting...Warren on Cortez brought tears to my eyes. And of course, #41 with 11 people on stage was wonderful. (Im not going to make an comparisons between 4.20.02 and Night 1, theres is no need...they are both amazing musically whether it was 4 minutes shorter or not). Night 2 was great too...they were supposed to play Seek Up after Jimi with the Tones but didnt...am I disappointed? a little...but its not going to ruin my time (as I have been reading so many times over in other threads).

I have like 250 pics to upload..but Im gong to nap as I got up early this morning. Just wanted to check in, say hi...and say that wish that you guys could have joined us in NYC.

I called the girl today to check progress, left a message. But Im assuming I didnt get it, as they didnt call any of my references and such. I hope I hear back from her today, not only so I can put my mind at ease but so I can be reunited with Mary. This weekend was my first time not being stoned at a DMB show in about 2 years. There were so many times during our trip, especially spending the day in Central Park and drinking on top of a rooftop overlooking NYC, where I said "I would love to have a joint right now" I had so much will power, a bowl was being passed many many times, and no hits....well one hit, but it was just cause I missed that taste.
Maybe I needed a break though...I'll appreciate Mary more when I finally get to :hump her again!

i went on an hour-long rant today about how i feel about our government. i was really worked up because i drove an HOUR to pay a speeding ticket, and they told me that i had to wait for a court date because a cop wasn't present today - even though it said on the ticket to appear in court on August 8th @ 9AM...with the fucking address. all i did was show up at the time and place that was written on the ticket. i don't get it. so i had to wake up early, blow $15 in gas, and drive 110 miles in total for NOTHING. :BANG needless to say, marcia and i bitched the entire way home.

Yeah... I hear ya... but it's wierd that in Canada, if the cop doesn't show at the court date, the ticket is dismissed...but not in the US ....
