Heather... how's the new job so far?

morning to all...new job is alright so far. This morning was filled with running around getting a police check, a medical exam, scheduling a TB test and so on. 2 shifts into the new job and I dont hate it so I guess thats a good thing :shrug

Good Morning all...so I was crunching numbers this weekend and decided against renting the van...

so, we thought we had our plans set..we've been talking about the van all weekend.. and were obviously thrown for a loop this morning. i didn't realize that you didn't know we had to rent a car regardless...unfortunately, that's the truth though.. none of us should have to put 1,100 miles on our car - and we know what happens to transmissions in the 312 thread.

Okay well, I'm working on planning this trip...open to suggestions from one and all...I'm trying to make this as much fun and as cheap as possible.

Making plans is an evolutionary process for me...and on Friday I knew that Marcia and Laura were all for the rental...then I talked to Julie...she wasn't so happy about it...then after figuring the numbers it ended up being cheaper to take two cars than one van with the rental.

Now I think the best plan would be for ya'll to come to my place on Thursday Night...call me when you are close...I'll wake up...and cook some breakfast for everyone...we'll go pick up Matt and get on the road by like 2:00 am Friday...We can take Julie's car and Tripper (he needs to work out the new transmission) or maybe Matt's Malibu will be in the mix too...we don't need to take one of your cars and we don't need to rent a van. This is of course all up for discussion. But I believe that to be our best bet. We can all take turns driving and all ride in different cars...we can jump from car to car at speeds in excess of 2.5 mph.

That is the best plan I have come up with...what do you think?

a person or two before cara got a ticket for driving without a license, no insurance, and was caught speeding. the judge dismissed the first 2 charges and charged him $100 fine for the speeding (with a $55 surcharge). i don't get it.

after today, i officially *loathe* law enforcement. come on, mistakes happen. you can't tell me the cops (or, gods on high if you will) have never made a traffic mistake before. are they absolute perfect drivers? just the other day I was at a light waiting to make a left hand turn and a cop in the right lane CUT ME OFF! I'm pretty sure if I did that to him I'd have myself a pretty pink ticket. What is with transmissions and tickets in the 312 thread??

I'm sorry Amy, if it makes you feel any better, I understand that you made a mistake.

With every thing going on in life, and as fast paced as we all are, traffic rules are so tedious. There are so many of them. In fact, today while at court, a young kid (17-18) was ticketed for riding in the passing lane for 3 miles. The trooper followed the kid for 3 miles - gave the kid a ticket for failing to yeild to the right (?), going 75 mph, AND driving on a junior license. The judge asked him if he read the driver's manual before taking the test and proceded to tell him that he's not supposed to ride in the passing lane incase people need to get by him. Why would people need to get by him if he was going 75 mph?

Don't worry Amy, I'm sure statistics will prove that atleast 2 kids on the bus you failed to see are experiencing or have experienced some form of child abuse (whether it be moderate or severe - still abuse) - but your ticket money and suspension will help that kid out, for sure! *cough sarcasm cough*

So Matt and I were driving to Darien Lake last night to go see the Aerosmith show (which was excellent). And we get pulled over on the road that leads to the park. Two cops come to our windows...Matt was driving. Matt hands me his smoke (cause we would have gotten in shit for smoking while they were talking to us) and I threw it out my window. The cop says 'Where's your registration sticker?" Matt says, "this is a Canadian car, its my gf's." So as this is happening, the cop came to my window and practically yells "what did you just throw out the window" I said a cigarette..he then says "you dont have an astray in your car? Now youre getting a littering ticket!" So he takes my license, Matt tells the cop on his side that his father is a Buffalo police officer, and the cop proceeds to call Matt's house. So they go back to the car...at this point we dont know why we even got pulled over, they never said anything. We think its because they didnt see the registration sticker, but then felt like asses when Matt said it was a Canadian car. Matt's cop comes back and said he talked to Matt's mother and that its fine, but his partner is writing me a ticket.

My cop comes back to my side, hands me the ticket for littering and says (totally serious) "Don't come into the friggin' United States and throw your cigarette butts out the window, they have ashtrays for that"
I AM SO PISSED OFF! Firstly, why be a dick about it? Secondly, was the comment about the US even necessary? I truly believe that the only reason he gave me a ticket was because I was Canadian. So now I have a court date, I dont even know how much the ticket was for. Matt gets off free and I have a possible $200 ticket and a court date I cant show up to. Matt's mom said the officer told her Matt was going 50 in a 35 which is horseshit, cause there was no way he was going that fast. :violent :violent
