I've been trying to figure out time signatures of some songs and I was thinking it would be helpful if I had some examples for reference. So I was wondering if people could list any Dave songs or parts where the time signature is basically anything other than 4/4, and what exactly it is. I've heard that Dreaming Tree is in 7/8 and Satellite has some time signature changes, but I would like more examples. Thanks for any help.

Dreaming Tree is 7/4
DIDO is 6/8
Stone is 6/8
Rapunzel's Intro is 5/4
Rapunzel's Bridge is 6/8
That should get you started. :)
DT is 7/8. Satellite and Seek Up are 3/4. WWYS chorus is 3/4 too. There might be a few others in triple meter but the vast majority are good ol' 4/4.

In some jam versions of Typical there is a 7/8 jam session that is cued by Roi's sax, it's one of my favorite jams. 7/8 is a really melodically defiant time signature but for some reason they can still make it jam as hard as somethin in 4/4. beautiful.

I'm pretty sure it's in 9/8.
I think YNK is by far the hardest to count. Shifting compound and assymetric meters.

Mother Father is in 12/8
The Rapunzel intro is actually 3 5/4 measures and then a 6/4 measure. Also...going into the jam there is a single 7/8 measure which causes many trainwrecks.
Sleep to Dream her is in 6/8
Proudest Monkey is in 3/4
Satellite switches between 3/4 and 2/4
Those are just some additions to the previously listed.

As I've said many times, You Never Know isn't that difficult.
Almost the entire song is in 6/8, including the intro and chorus.
The only different part is the "What if God/shuffled by..." part. That is in three bars of 5/8 followed by one 6/8.
It's that simple.

What makes YNK tricky is carter's drumming. Don't listen to it.

Like Monkey Man. Trying to find the 1 with his drumming on there always ruins me.

Exactly.

While I havent listened to Mother Father in a while, I do believe that the verse is in 4/4. I seem to remember the guitar having a duple feel to it.
Then again, its been a while.

#34 is in 9/8, that's one that hasn't been listed.
Pig is an intersting song to count with. Daves guitar starts on the 1 of the 4/4. While Carter's bass drum down beat start on the 2 of the measure. Fun to listen to if you want to practice your counting.
You Never Know (as stated before), is interesting to practice your counting. Try counting the 6/8 along with Dave's guitar in the intro part. Carter's part really funks it up. Quite cool I think.
I think there is a list around here somewhere that has all the time signatures listed... I think it may be over at dmbtabs.com

Thanks for the responses everyone. I'll see if I can figure any of this out listening to it. And I can definitely see how Rapunzel would be hard to play as a unit with all of those changes.
