I think I would definately have to cover lie in our graves simply because there is so much you can do with the jam in the middle of the song. And I would have to say that crush runs a close second.
I would let him cover me :lol

I don't think I'd cover a full DMB song...I'd throw a partial song in a jam an outro or an intro...or toss a few lyrics in randomly at shows...even though Dave is amazing, I wouldn't wanna be liek Howie Day or someone where people come to your shows requestin songs that aren't yours...it's rude...like Dave w/ Freebird...I wouldn't want to be known as someone who does a kickass Dave cover..just my opinion:)

#41 would be the only thing I'd wanna cover. It's not my favorite song, but it's just seems right. But I would never, ever put it on a CD or release it live. I don't know what it is, but I hate it when artists release songs of other artists that are still alive. Covering is one thing, releasing it live or in studio is another. It's that other I don't agree with. Dunno why.

How bout covering Dave's version of All Along the Watchtower?
Have you ever listened to dylan's version? Sooooo much different than daves, and I like daves version better.

I'd cover "Grey Street". I'd get off the piano and pick up a twelve string guitar and invite my special guest, Carter Beauford, to come sit in with the band. We would do it the old school way with the double chorus at the end and I'd sing the earlier lyrics because I don't like the new ones as much. Then we would jam it out for about an hour or so and I'd relish every second of it.

Since you quoted me, you also drew your own conclusion to what I'm saying. I said, "I hate it when," meaning, I don't enjoy, not too fond of, and don't feel the need for bands to release covers of songs while the artists are still alive. I never said that I hated the band that releases the songs. And no I don't hate DMB to an extent, but I do hate you fully.
So take your  and shove it.

Yes...this is true. Thank you for retyping what I just stated(the need for that was?)...it was very informative for me to read my own feelings that I previously discloused.
Actually, long black veil isn't that bad when covered, mainly due to it being more of a "campfire song." You know, one without an offical original owner, to my knowledge. Yes, I do hate it when they release THE MAKER and WATCHTOWER. The maker to me just gets on my nerves. Live, watchtower's okay. So thanks realizing I don't have DMB, I just would prefer them to keep covers off albums. But hey, they're the band, I just listen. They'll do what they want. In concert, it's fine, just leave it off the record.(Of course I understand that if they release a live show with a cover in the set, they can't help that; still doesn't mean I like it.):raven

Discloused huh…? Do you mean disclosed: revealed, unveiled, divulged, made known, and so on. If you’re going to be a smart ass at least spell your words correctly.
Gibsonchet, relax, take a deep breath before you respond and don't take yourself quite so seriously. These are just a few of my suggestions. I hope that the disclousure of my feelings hasn't upset you further.

All of you guys are assholes. I think in his first post he said he hated it when band's publicly release a cover song on an LP. And as for the whole spelling thing just shove the alphabet up your ass. If you have problems with the way people spell perhaps you should submit an application to the mods as a professional spell checker. I'm sure they are always looking forward to having one more person (regardless if they are a schmuck or not) aboard. Now, onto MY thoughts that are from MY head, because I'm CAPITALIZING so maybe you'll UNDERSTAND. As much as I like the cover songs that Dave does, I would never see any point of them putting in on a CD. Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard has got to be one of the most underrated cover song that they play, and I love what they did with it. But still, its a cover and it belongs with the unreleased songs where it should be. Anyone wonder why JTR wasn't released? Hmmmm? A little John the Revelator? Cover song? Anyone ever heard? Ok, well maybe not. But still, fact of the matter reminds I would never publicly release any cover song regardless of how good a band sounds. Now on a personal level, I run a Dave Matthews Cover Band at school and we play alot of his songs just for fun. It's entertaining and influences the band throughout the college. We've considered writing our own songs and have been talked to by a few companies about signing to a label, but nothing concrete yet. Still, I couldn't see putting a Dave song on the album because it would be extremly tacky and people would stereotype us and never appreciate our original music. "Just another Dave wannabe" would be the catch phrase, and for anyone who has listened to the band, you would see we are far from that typecast as we branch off onto our own ideas. So in conclusion, blow me.
