Hey

Does anyone know how to replicate Tim's guitar effects? (Most notably Hopeful Heresy and any of the overlaying solo work on Live at Luther College) A lot of them sound very similiar but kick ass. I'm trying things with digital delay, reverb, and chorus on my fx processor but cannot even get close.

ANy suggestions, thoughts or what works for them would be awesome

Thanks

*I tried search but nothing came up*

For Live at Luther, I believe he used a Line6 DL-4. Erich would be able to confirm.

got it, I'll try that but i guess its really the volume effect i'm looking for. So would i be better off with a boss volume pedal or the Line 6 DL-4?

Thanks!

He uses the DL-4 for the looping and delay effects. It's a far more versitile pedal than a volume pedal, but it's also quite expensive. You might want to try a Boss DD-4, 5, or 6 (the 6 with the tap pedal) to see if delays are for you for 1/3 the price. Pick one up from a reputable shop used. Don't trust eBay for used pedals.

well i've got an old zoom 1010 sitting around here and it has a few delay fx to work with, would that be sufficient? Or should i just pick up the dl-4 and be done with it? Or is there an overall fx processor that has everything that's decent and affordable?

The more effects you pack into one pedal the more difficult it is to use on the fly. Go play a few delay pedals at the store and see what you like.

Hmmm....I'd be quite surprised if he wasn't using a JamMan instead of the Line6 DL-4 back then. VERY surprised.

The Line6 DL-4 is specifically mentioned in either one of the guitar books or a biography. I'm too lazy to pop the box of books open from downstairs to find out which.

There's a small list on TR's website...I suggest you start there...

What it says in writing is quite possible....as I'm sure for a guitar book he would get endorsement money to mention Line6, whereas the JamMan has been out of production for well over a decade....though he was using them quite a bit from what I understood.
