Crayton = teh suck
But yeah you can't deny they will have a potent passing attack. Add Witten to that. Whoa.
I just hope they don't forget about Marion "The Barbarian" cuz he has been tearing it up in the league I own him in this year.
I personally think they will use him even more in the next couple weeks at least until Johnson gets used to being a starter and everyone gets acclimated to Williams in the offense and vice versa.
we will be seeing a ton of marion barber the next 3 weeks to open up play action. i think we're gonna be okay now. we'll just outscore everyone.

i heard it was multiple draft picks, but not a first-rounder. and i think we had an extra third rounder, plus the fifth we just got from the titans cause of pacman. so i'm thinking we didn't sell the farm to get him. we'll see, though.

Well look on the bright side Lions fans, you just got some more draft picks, and you don't have Matt Millen calling the shots anymore.
Thats a win for you. Not like having Williams was gonna make a difference this year anyway.

oh I agree totally. This is great news. They get picks, and it seems like a #1 maybe which would be great, plus won't be dumb and franchise Williams so they have money to spend elsewhere. If Johnson turns into the player he can be they will be ok at WR. Having two big guns wouldn't matter if you have massive holes everywhere else.

I am happy as hell right now, you don't even know.
Roy was gone at the end of the season anyway, unless the Lions franchised him (which I would have opposed). I love getting antoher 1st rounder, and third and sixth for Roy and a seventh.
And not having that cum-stain Millen drafting makes me even happier!!

Hope he can play defense. Sweet way to mortgage the future. Nice for Dallas to finally return the draft pick love to a lower tiered team. Anyone remember the Herschel Walker trade? Not as many picks, and an incompetent Detroit franchise can clearly mess this up. However, great move by Detroit. Williams is a free agent at season's end, and will want truckloads of dough.
Why does Dallas make this trade? They aleady have strength in the receiving game. Crayton and Austin are young. They along with Witten can pick up the slack when T.O. is finished.
Two quick questions:
1) Can Williams play CB? Without Pacman, this defense is hosed. Never thought I'd say that.
2) How will T.O. react to another superstar WR in the fold? His history sure would have me a bit worried:)
BTW: I am a completely jaded Chiefs fan, who wishes everyone as much misery in sports, as I have.

Jenkins WILL be solid. However, he is still young, and I have seen him toasted a few times. Agreed, should be a better secondary, but not immediately. The loss of Jones hurts, no doubt. Plus, the dicey health of Newman will always be a concern.

Dancing Ants

it will. he's a solid receiver. it's not his fault he got drafted by one of the top 3 worst teams in the league for the past 8 years. it's actually a pretty good trade...you look at it like Roy Williams is your first round draft pick, which I'd say is a pretty good pick. They have 8 picks after giving up these three for Williams, so it's not like they sold their draft or anything. it's a very well done trade.

pac was the third CB on the team...he was only the starter cause newman has been out. he was playing pretty OK, but i don't think it's gonna kill that secondary...just put them back to where they were last year while newman was out, except maybe a bit better.

In theory that filters that out, but there is a relationship between good sabermetric stats and good QB play. Kitna has been really bad, so he should improve playing with Romo if and when he is healthy. I think if you removed the name from the equation Cowboys fans would be irate.
Would you agree that TJ would have made much more sense?

i don't know about made more sense, but we most definitely could've got him at a cheaper price. but he's got some years on williams and i don't think he has the potential to be a #1, whereas i think roy can. the biggest part of this deal was finding someone to take over when TO leaves, and i think roy is a better fit than tj.
or this could be joey galloway all over again. only time will tell.

TJ might've, but whatever. the deal is done. and it's not a bad deal. they didn't give up the bank for the guy. and say they end up going like 6-10 or 7-9...they have 8 picks in the draft and could look at moving up to get Michael Crabtree in next year's draft. It's a genius trade, the more you look at it.

"this is a bigger day for me than when i got my first bike"
he also got a new contract til 2013. and in fact this deal works out great. we started the day with 10 draft picks for next years draft. we give up a 1st, 3rd and 6th and get roy and a 7th, plus the 3rd and 5th back from the titans because pacman failed. so really, we didnt lose anything. we had 2 1st rounders for next year. excellent excellent excellent. great job, jerry! this team once fully healthy needs to stop underachieving, and put these other teams in the NFC east away. and if injuries do hold us back, god help the league next year. patrick crayton was not doing well this season, and is clearly a slot reciever. TO has been double covered all year long and hastn seen anything. thus the offense is stagnet. now the defense is forced to focus on TO and NOW roy williams. the offfense is going to explode and will be the most feared once we get everyone healthy. read above about what i say. in the end, we didnt give too much because we still got stuff back from the titans.
chad and TJ werent getting traded. so they dont count. whos left? nobody. roy is 26 years old and has been to 1 pro bowl and put up decent numbers on a team that has never had a good QB (harrington and kitna) and had absolutely no legitimate running game whatsoever)
jerry jones wants to win now, and he is the biggest risk taker in the NFL. say what you want, but he gambles and so far in his 20 year career, he has done a fairly good job. he had a dynasty with 3 super bowl wins.
so if you stop and think about it, it does make sense. it just doesnt to you, or to most football fans because in the end, its the dallas cowboys, and people just loveto trash talk anything about them without being somewhat intelligent.

We had 2 first round picks for next year? I didn't see anything about that. How did we get the extra 1st round pick?
we don't have two firsts next year. here's what we have:
1st - 0
2nd - ours
3rd - cleveland's
4th - ours, detroit's (gotten during last year's draft
5th - ours
6th - miami's
7th - detroit's, ours
we'll also get compensatory picks, probably in the 4th and 5th round, for Julius Jones and Jacques Reeves. sitting very pretty next year. it may be the best trade the cowboys have pulled off since the great minnesota train robbery. they essentially gave up a 1st for Roy Williams. and what receiver that you could get in the cowboys' 1st pick is gonna be better than Williams next year? maybe michael crabtree, but he'll be a top 5 pick easily.

this is great
TO is already bitching he doesnt get the ball enough (17 times a game) and now there is another top tier receiver lining up on the other side of the offense? Great move Jerry. Now it will be literally impossible for Romo to keep everyone happy. One of the two will blow up, and there will be chaos in the locker room. Moreover, now the Cowfags are screwed for this years draft, one that could have potentially set them up for years and years of high levels of success.
...oh yea. lets not forget what happened to the best passing offense literally ever last year when their QB didnt have any time to throw the ball; they lost.
Great job Dallas. Get ready for another let down in the playoffs.

Our DB's are getting a little better. Both Patrick Watkins and Roy Williams (the safety) practiced today and should play on Sunday. A little bit of good news for our injury riddled secondary.
Jenkins has been named the starter in place of Newman.

TO was the first to call roy williams and welcome him to dallas though. roy was in detriot before, why would anyone be happy there? we also still have a shitload of picks for next years draft.

Roy Williams is not the type of guy to cause drama about not getting the ball enough. He's a great player, I've been watching him since he was at UT and I'm really excited about this trade. Glad to see he's excited to come back to Texas too.
And yep apparently Romo said he can play, I can see him starting but coming out around half if we're taking care of business against the Rams, as we should

tony practiced a little bit today and still insists on starting on sunday. i have two thoughts on this:
1. rest. take a game off. let it heal a bit and come back for tampa.
2. play through the pain. the team will respect you for it and rally behind their leader.
can't decide which i'd prefer. i guess only he knows how bad it hurts. i just really don't want to risk further injury. not to discredit them, it is the rams, and for christ's sake, we should be able to handle them with or without tony.

its the most talented team in the NFL on paper that the head coach has lost. the head coach is too soft of a dude. and when a head coach loses his team, talent does not matter. and no i dont believe jason garrett is the answer. leave him as the offensive coordinator. we need to bring somebody, anybody else in here.
any hard ass coach would come in and take this team right into the super bowl. somebody needs to go, by tomorrow to send a message that this shit will not be tolerated. if not, this season might in fact be over.

I think the problem is in the front office, which is why Jimmy and the Tuna left. The Coach needs to have unquestioned authority or you will have problems, which is not the case in Dallas. A hard ass is not going to put up with being over ruled by the billionaire upstairs.
Dallas is on a level with Pittsburgh, Indy, NE, Philly on the field, but Oakland and Cincy in the locker room.

the only reason we gave up 3 picks was because we got 2 back from teennesee and then 1 with roy. so really we only lost a 1st.
he is a great reciever who is only going to get better. he is 27 too, so he can be TOs replacement.

well, after letting that ass-fucking sink in, i still haven't given up hope. we're too talented. these next two weeks are crucial. and, oddly enough, two of the hardest games on our schedule. tony has to be healthy for tampa, or they are going to fuck brad a new one. and @ the giants speaks for itself. the thing we have going for us is that we're 1-1 in the division with 4 games left. the bad part is that 3 of them are on the road and the 1 home game is against the giants. we're also 2-3 in the nfc, which doesn't help matters.
the thing that concerns me the most is this just doesn't seem like a team who can band together through adversity. the head coach is a joke who's pretty much just waiting to be fired now. i don't want an oakland saga. everyone knows he's gone. get it done and let's move on. maybe a coaching change would fire things up a bit. but is garrett the answer? well, jerry banked on it, so might as well find out now.
if we can beat tampa and somehow pull the giants game out, we'll be ok. going 1-1 wouldn't be terrible. if we lose them both, and go into the bye 4-5, we're done.

Why not? I see Red Sox and Yankees fans mess with eachother all the time in their threads. Who cares.
Anyways with Dallas, it's really just bad coaching. With all the individual talent they have on both sides of the ball, how can it be anything other than coaching? Their players lack focus, and they don't play as a unit in any facet of the game.
I think after literally every single passing TD I've seen them give up this year, I've seen their d-backs pointing at each other. So lame.

call up the giants and have them sit eli, your best cornerback, your back-up running back and, from the looks of it, your starting tight end, and we'll call it even. i'm not going to play the injury card. shit happens. but don't give me this "play to win the game" bullshit when a majority of our primary playmakers are down.
i will laugh my ass off if the cowboys win this game.
boss is no shockey. shockey was a play-maker, boss really isnt. so we're even on the tight-end spectrum. TO and Roy Williams? we dont have a best cornerback. none of them until about 9 months ago were worth a shit. you still have the better cornerbacks. And according to everyone, Eli is garbage anyway, because he doesnt put up 4,000 yards and 30 touchdowns a year, so i dont know your point there either. My point is, rather than going after fucking douchebags who like jail, and paying them 40 million dollar signing bounses, start signing people that CARE, and create a back-up plan with the money saved. You know, like we have david Carr. I don't care if you didnt expect Romo to go down or not, you still need to have a sound back-up. Again, i dont want to hear it about your play-makers going down. TO and Roy Williams and The Barbarian are all-pro. whine whine whine. Demarcus Ware? pleeeease. see you sunday.

we haven't lost shit yet. eli has a tendency to shit the bed at times, why not this week? if we can hold jacobs and force eli into some mistakes, we can make a game of it. the offense has to produce, though. they have to move the ball and win the field position game.

the offense isnt going to do shit with brad johnson at QB. there could be nobody sticking TO and roy and he'd still checkdown to barber, its a joke. wade wont put brooks in because brad is the vet and "gies them a better chance to win" blah blah blah. the giants arent the bucs, they are great on offense and defense. id say if everyone was playing we could easily beat them, but 50% of the roster is hurt. im hoping for something good, but am expecting a loss.

It wasn't pretty, but if you remember last year, those were the road games we won all year long last season, that just makes you a stronger team in general. Until last week, i felt the steelers were top 3 in the NFL, but after that, holy shit, big ben may not live to see the end of the season. I would disagree when you say "we could easily beat you". You could have easily, scratch, SHOULD HAVE easily beaten us in january last year. That's why the play the game, my friend. Injuries, or no injuries, goodluck this weekend.

yeah, i'm hoping they make a game of it. all these "fans" writing this game/season off are starting to piss me off. if they play like they did against tampa (awesome D, no turnovers), it'll definitely be a game. the offense needs to step it up. i'm looking forward to it. should be a good one.

5-4 is where i figured we'd be. i apologize to the brooks supporters. no telling what could've happened had he started and played the whole game. brad is horrible. i hope he's played his last snap as a cowboy.
as for the game, meh. when your defense is on the field for 92 minutes of a 60 minute game, you're going to lose. here's hoping that everyone's back healthy after the bye and we make a run at it. but we realistically need to go 5-2 to probably even have a shot, so we'll see.

Mario82288

If you've played sports (at any level) ya know those games when you just kinda know you are gonna get your ass handed to you. Maybe it wasn't because your team was stacked with injury like the Cowboys. Maybe it was because your school was small and you were going against the powerhouse team that wins it all every year.
Never the less, I think we've all been on the short side of those games. That's what happened to the Cowboys yesterday. They were over-matched with the players that were on the field. So what happened? The Cowboys who did play, pressed .. they tried to make things happen. When you press too hard, sometimes bad things happen. You lose momentum and it just steamrolls downward.
We are not as bad as we saw yesterday. We were missing our leader. The haters will say that Romo doesn't play defense and that is true. But when the defense is on the field too long or being put in bad field position due to turnovers, it's easy for the defense to fail.
I've never been more excited for a bye week then I am this week. Let's get healthy and lets get back to business!

i agree, mario. any defense in the league is going to look like shit if they have to play 40-45 minutes of the game. after romo, i think the biggest return is going to be tnew. that will vastly improve our secondary, which is our weakest point right now. but i hope the players realize that just getting these players back doesn't automatically mean we start winning again. every game is a fight now. every game. if we lose more than 2 of these next 7 games, we can probably kiss the playoffs goodbye. and here's the remaining schedule to put things into perspective:
@wash
san fran
seattle
@pitt
giants
ravens
@eagles

the nfc is such a clusterfuck right now. i'm confident the boys can get there, as well, but it's not going to be easy. what needs to happen is some of the north and south teams need to start losing some games. that would help tremendously. also, us winning out and the skins/eagles losing out wouldn't hurt.

home against san fran and then thanksgiving against an awful seahawk team. we must destroy the seahawks in retaliation for that january 07 wildcard game they had no business winning.

i don't think so. i believe the stipulations were if he was suspended at all for any reason for any amount of time. i don't think whether or not he was reinstated again heald any bearing. i, for one, hope the league suspends him the rest of the year. i do not want him back on the field, but i know jerry wants him to play if he's available. we need to cut his ass and get away from all the distractions, cause you know if he comes back, it's gonna be a circus all over again.
Well .. looks like Adam Jones is coming back after the Thanksgiving game. He's been reinstated.

yeah, i heard. i voiced my opinion in the nfl thread yesterday. i'm disappointed in the league and the team for welcoming him back with open arms. but they're my team, so i'll still cheer them on. it just seems like an unnecessary distraction for a team fighting to make the playoffs.

I haven't seen to many Cowboys games this year besides the one's on national tv, but was Pacman even having that big of an impact to warrant all this nonsense in the first place?

he was ok. nothing spectacular, but he stood out due to our lack of depth/experience in the secondary. when newman went down, pacman was basically the veteran, next to henry. besides those two, we had two rookies in scandrick and jenkins out there. but both of those guys have been making progress and our pass defense has been decent lately. now with newman back, we could survive without pacman. will he help? probably. but to me, it's not worth the hassle.
