first off - this is truly an awesome song.
anyway my Q is.... i'm having some difficulty with the timing on one part of the song. If anyone is interested in helping out let me know and i'll let you know the time, i don't have it right here in front of me. thanks!

ok at around 6:08 - they are playing this:
|-------------------------------------------------------------------------
|-------------------------------------------------------------------------
|-------------------------------------------------------------------------
|-------------------------------4-4-------------------------------4------
|-----4------5-----4-----5-----2-2------4-----5-----4-----5-------2-----
|-0-0-2-0-0-3-0-0-2-0-0-3-0-0-----0-0-2-0-0-3-0-0-2-0-0-3-0-0--------|
then at around 6:18 they switch to this
|-------------------------------------------------------------------------
|-------------------------------------------------------------------------
|-------------------------------------------------------------------------
|-------------------------------2-4-5-5-----------------------------------
|-------------------------2-3-5-------3--333-2-3-5-3-2-------------------
|-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-000-2-3-5------------------------------3-2--------------
does that stay in 4/4???? I've tried counting but it doesn't seem to pan out when they transition out of that part. :confused :confused :confused

I love the way you quote the time, 6mins! I didn't realise how long it was! Classic!

Assuming, that this change at 6:18 you're talking about is the section between the solo and the 3rd verse, which I think it is....
The time is in 4/4 before the switch. Then there is one bar where it is in 5/8, but then reverts back to 4/4 until the chorus begins. Each verse riff is 4/4 but ends with a 5/8 bar also.
I believe that's the case anyway... I don't have my notes with me, but this is going from memory. My band plays this, so I can check with somebody and confirm my guess.

yeah its something like that. you mean each verse riff ends with a 7/8 bar i think though.
i'd love to see a real transcription of this song. so many time shifts. how'd they play this when they were always drunk? :lol

If you feel it in a more "wide open" feel, it's easier than trying to do it faster... ...if that makes sense...

I was wrong.... The odd bar out before the 3rd verse is in 7/8
But the verse riff definitely ends in 5/8.... That I'm certain about. It's easy enough to count out and I've seen numerous sources to confirm.
To try and help you count out measures on your tabs....At 6:08 it goes 21 bars of 4/4, then 1 bar of 7/8, then another 11 in 4/4 until the verse starts... From the notes I was given there is only one 7/8 in the entire song..... That doesn't mean they're entirely accurate though. Listening is very hard to pick up because it only happens once in the song.
