Try a Creative X-Fi Elite Pro or X-Fi Xtreme Music sound card. The Elite Pro comes with an I/O box that you can plug guitars and mic equipment into. They range around $399 to $499. Also, try looking into some E-MU products.

Look into the E-MU products. They are specifically designed for what you are trying to do. I work for Creative and I know that the X-Fi cards are the shit, and a little more friendly priced. The E-MU products can range around $700. If you use USB, you can loose some of the quality and the recording could lag. Just trowing some ideas out there for ya.

Good lord....if you work for Creative you seem to have no idea how much their E-MU line actually costs.
