What holiday season are you refering to?

I'm happy for Europe, but I think it would be cooler if the whole band went. But I guess you have to take what you can get.

Hope all that are going have a blast!

FUCK YES!!!

Fuck yeah!!

Gonna book tickets to Amsterdam tomorrow. What's the best way to get tickets? Thinking of joining the WH and requesting tickets right now. Will that work? I mean, will I be able to request tickets right after I join??

Fint: Thanks again for the e-mail. Have you heard from Ben?

I gotta decide between Paris and Amsterdam. Anyone know the venues? I was looking at La Cigale in Paris, and it looked awesome...it takes about 400 seated people, which is NOTHING...the show's gonna be all standing though, but it'll still be intimate just like KING'S COLLEGE :D :D :D

I went to Kings and I've been to La Cigale. La Cigale is larger than Kings, its longer and more narrow where I would say Kings was shallower but wider if that makes any sense. La Cigale is an awesome venue but I may be biased as I love Paris. I saw Jack Johnson there before he got so big, was one of the best gigs I've been too. Seriously thinking of going over to see Dave there.

Alasken

I hear ya man, I was at King's College as well, and know what you mean when you say it's wide. I looked up Paradiso, the venue in Amsterdam, and apparently it's a legenday "rock temple". It's actually an old church. I just joined the WH right now, and I'm gonna request tickets for me and a buddy tomorrow. I'm also gonna book plane tickets tomorrow, so I'm gonna be devastated if I don't get tickets.

Now, the dream would be to catch both the Paris and the Amsterdam shows! They're not really far away at all, with the highspeed trains!!

Wonderful ! I'll go to Paris...If I can get a ticket !
I only hope all american fans won't take their holiday during this time and buy all tickets for the show lol ! (even if I really don't know if french fans would be able to fill the place?)

Anyone else plans to go to paris?

Ps : La Cigale is really a good place for shows. Really small with good sound. I've seen Chris Rea two times there. It was really nice...
Ps' : does anyone know if all the tickets will be on sale at the same time? (november 17th) The show is not even mentionned in the website...

Luke La Cigale would be awesome for Dave, when I saw Jack Johson we walked up the hill to Sacre Coeur after wards and there were loads of people about playing guitar, the view from there is awesome over Paris, I'm definately tempted especially with the cheap flights you can get.

11-09-2006, 07:21 AM
I didn't think so either, but I checked today and it said "Request Tickets Now"

So i hopped on that.
The request system is automatic and doesn't work on an address basis (as they'd have to program something in which is pointless and time consuming), so it can't tell where you're from. It's when they got to check and confirm the requests that they will check the address of the request and deny it based on that. Same thing happened in February.

mattward2k

I'd love to but I'm not going to Milan. Remember that all the WH tickets for this tour are will call, so you'll have to find somebody who's going to the Milan show to meet up with and grab the ticket off.

As far as I know, no, they'll only list shows for the country of the TM you're on. DMB summer tour dates don't get listed on the UK TM, for example.

your right i did some looking into this, and for the amsterdam show that i want to hit. i have to go to the TM amsterdam site, the show is already listed on there and the on sale time and date is the same set up as it would be in the US its just done thru a holland site.

good thing there is an option for english on there or i would be really lost! :lol

for the peeps trying to get tickets without the WH:

when I was getting tickets to the Kings College show in London throught the UK ticketmaster I had to have an english adress and switch solo visa card to pay for it...it resulted in me timing out (you only have 3 minutes to pay) and not getting tickets until Isweetwhirled sold me a spare....(thanks again ben :D )...so I suggest you look into that and e-mail the dutch ticketmaster and ask them exactly what you need to buy the tix.

I got my Toronto DMB tix through TM Canada I believe, and I live in the US. You have to select the option "US address" or something along those lines...

EDIT- Yeah, when you select your shipping method, you have to scroll to the area where it says "Customers In Other Countries."

Ps' : does anyone know if all the tickets will be on sale at the same time? (november 17th) The show is not even mentionned in the website...
Dave & Tim would make my dream come true ! I hope that tickets will be available here in France this month.
To nico & Gamba : please contact me, we will talk about it !

I got my Toronto DMB tix through TM Canada I believe, and I live in the US. You have to select the option "US address" or something along those lines...

EDIT- Yeah, when you select your shipping method, you have to scroll to the area where it says "Customers In Other Countries."

thanks for the heads up, thats what i was thinking about customers in other countries. i emailed the holland TM site to see if i would be good with a US addy and a US visa/mastercard

I can't believe it and i just hope this is not a dream : they mention that it's a DMB showThat's too good to be true! The DMB management says it will be a "Dave Matthews European tour" - I would rather trust the management than any ticketing company ...

But, now that Tim Reynolds will probably come along, what about Béla Fleck?! :) I mean: since he somehow doesn't want to come to Central Europe with the Flecktones (only UK, Ireland and Hungary), this would be THE alternative: the Dave Matthews trio!!! :lol What about accompanying some of the songs, Béla? ... Because you are one hell of a virtuoso!!!

Best regards,

The Irish TicketMaster site made the same mistake,Saying it was for DMB not DM.But MCD-the promoters here in Ireland -sent out a news email & have it down as "An Acoustic eveining with Dave Matthews".

I'd love to but I'm not going to Milan. Remember that all the WH tickets for this tour are will call, so you'll have to find somebody who's going to the Milan show to meet up with and grab the ticket off.

i agree with you that it won't be dave and friends...i assume that if dave is to go over to europe he wants to play the more extensive original catalogue, not a concert mixed with a bunch of covers.

however if he wanted to do a dave and friends tour it'd be pretty simple...dave and friends bassist tony hall and keyboardist ray pazkowski are in trey's current band

saw them last weekend in cornell. awesome show:thumbsup

again this is dave's first time playing most of these places. the fans that go want to hear for the most part dmb songs. i'm sure he'll throw in a few some devil tunes, but for the most part he'll play the stuff fans who don't have exposure to live dmb would expect to hear ie billies, ants, 41, crash, satellite, everyday..etc

That's a good point, but I'd say over the course of the 4 main Dave solo shows this year in the UK, the songs that got the biggest reception by far (perhaps with the exception of Crash) were the Some Devil songs.

"A very special Acoustic Evening with Dave Matthews. This solo UK Tour will feature songs from the new album Stand Up."

and also lets hope theres not too many songs off stand up

Not that it's anywhere near a guarantee that Tim will play with Dave, and the chances are still against it, but I wouldn't believe anything LiveNation have to say. They just churn stuff out that they think sounds good, irrespective of whether it's anything close to what's happening. Clear Channel, through and through.

Anyway, that sounds exactly like the tag line that accompanied the Feb/May shows, they've probably just been told to sell tickets for these dates at these venues and have stuck that along with it again. Especially the Stand Up part.

It just became a possibility for us (Zachy, me, and my husband) to go to the three England shows and the two Ireland shows. HELP! How do we get tickets on Friday? From what the WH have told me and by the looks of things LiveNation.co.uk is the place to go, Dave's finally up on there although there's no dates listed under the section.

You *should* be OK with a US credit card, although you're address may be a problem, even if they hold tickets at the venue they might still want a UK address. Best thing is to phone their number and ask beforehand.

Oxford is now sold out, which is ridiculous. They need to be taking the Summer 2008 tour off and playing more dates (but still less than a summer tour) cuz this random cities for one date with no London is ridiculous, gives scalpers and Americans too much of an opportunity, which is what they're desperately trying to avoid.

Hmmm, presumably as the WH decided to enact the whole non-US address thing for the entire tour this time round they decide to try and offset US fans buying tickets by allocating as many seats to the WH as possible. They really should have made this clearer with the request information. Not much point doing everything you can to get the tickets out to Europeans if you go and rush the request period?

Yep my thoughts exactly - also I'm a little disappointed to see that on Antsmarching's home page theres a link to "UK Tour Dates on Ebay" - ok it only takes you to a page selling T-shirts and not the tickets page, but just seeing that phrase on a fan site does not seem right to me. i agree with a lot of what various people are saying on here. im from northern ireland, i tried to join the wharehouse as soon as these dates were annouced, dave in BELFAST i never thought it would happen - dream come true, but the wharehouse kept saying it was overloaded, so i qued from 8:30 this morning down at the waterfront to get tickets from the box office, chatting to a couple of really nice local lads down there all excited to get to see him for the first time. i got tickets in section B, not to bad but the other lads got stuck up in the terraces, then you come online and everyone who seems to have tickets up close are from the states. i have nothing against that, i was lucky enough to be right by the stage at manchester in may, but it would just be nice to know that few people from ireland who have been waiting for years for him to FINALLY come to ireland get to be up close. hopefully there are, and maybe i wrong. its gunna be an amazing evening and i hope everyone who comes to belfast from where ever has a totally amazing time, its a fun city. peace

I hear you, and it sucks, but unfortunately that's just the way it's gone down. They really should have managed the WH request period better; had it open for longer, not had it so close to announcing the dates in the first place and allocated the majority of the venue to the WH which would have given all the European fans a chance.

In fact, they should have let the WH manage the ticket sales for all the shows; you didn't have to be a member, but could only order tickets if you had a non-US address. Don't know why he didn't also just add on a few US dates to this tour, and people who really wanted to go wouldn't have had to travel.

I am sure they are sellling them face value so what is the difference? ANyone who posts here sells for face value. I expect there will be tickets on the ticket exchange for some of those who were not lucky today.

We went online here at 1am our time and managed to get tickets for the two Ireland the three England shows. However- I don't get that being American gave me any advantage or makes me wrong for doing it. I usually have bad luck with Ticketmaster too... this time we were for the most part lucky.

When the shows are announced here don't European fans have the same opportunity to come here? Isn't it just as hard and expensive for us to go to England for these shows as it would be for them to come here?

My own case is finding out my Aunt who lives in London has leukemia. She has never met my son and my husband and she was a mother to me for two difficult years over 30 years ago. We immediately canceled our long planned once a year Hawaii vacation and knew we whould visit England sooner rather than later, trying to detrmine when. Then Dave shows announced and of course we want to go then. Acoustic Dave is my very favorite.

I hate feeling I have somehow done something wrong or bad by buying tickets on Ticketmaster at the same time as anyone else could do so.

I bought them because I'm going to the show. Then, later today, I tried again on a different site and found some seats more suited to a short person. Being 23rd row on the floor is great unless you're 5'3"... :)

I happened to come across some seats that were in the front circle, row G. So, I jumped on that and decided to sell these three to deserving fans here on Ants.

Partly the highlighted stuff you wrote is true - although with slight "modifications" ;)

One of my friends tried to buy tickets for Randalls Island, but couldn't because he was not a US or Canadian - so he had to buy tickets from ebay - more expensive and way poorer seats/standing areas because he couldn´t just buy them when they were available for sale - we sat in front of our computer when they got available for sale, but with no success.
Another time, the tickets he was "able" to buy ("able" because he was not American or Canadian) for Gorge 2005, were once again poorer seats/standing areas because it wasn't possible to buy tickets right away - dammit!

And the fact that it is just as easy or just as expensive for you Americans to travel over seas is true, but come on... you have far more opportunities for seeing Dave, DMB or D&T troughout the year - every year, so you don'have to travel abroad to see him, and thereby you save a lot of money. Everybody not living in USA/Canada have to spend a huge pile of money to go see a Dave/DMB/D&T show because they almost never come to Europe/Australia etc. - so finally Dave travels to Europe and many Americans try to buy tickets along with the Europeans, and that means that a large part of the tickets sold are to Americans

meggieprice
11-18-2006, 06:09 AM
I guess we have to blame Dave a bit too :lol Having seen Dave and Friends and Dave and Tim it is Acoustic Dave I crave- and not so easy to come by. He is that way- someone you will structure a trip to Europe around.

I do sympathise with the scarcity of European opportunities to see them, please believe me- but the Warehouse tix for this tour were for you guys only this time-you have the advantage- and from what I have heard they got lots of the closest seats- I hope you get them! I took my chances staying up late at night for Ticketmaster and lucked out this time.

Someone in the thread on DMBc about this actually made reference to hitting Americans in the head if they are sitting in front of him. This shocked me as one of the things I love about DMB is the great people who tend to love them. If you know me you know that I would be happy to request tickets for others- and have done so, for any show I do not go to myself. And I would so welcome anyone from another country with open arms to visit us here in NO CA.

The tricks God plays- turns out I may be sitting next to that exact person in Newcastle. Wouldn't you know? Hope he would rather smoke a peace pipe with me than hit me in the head, I fell six weeks ago and was seriously hurt and a punch in the head is a bit more than I could bear.:lol

Yes, I read his stupid comment. What a jerk. I'm sure he won't do anything like that - I guess his feelings just ran away with him because he does not (as many europeans have to accept) have the opportunity to see Dave as often as you guys. He's probably a nice guy who loves DMB as much as anybody in here, that's why he ended up saying what he said

Ever since I became a DMB fan I noticed how much the fans loved DMB/DM/D&T and I noticed the awesome atmosphere surrounding the whole DMB universe :)

It actually made me want to learn more about the band and the fans and now I'm a huge fan, and have my own DMB website with a good friend of mine: http://www.dreamingtree.dk with a forum for both Danish/Scandinavian fans and a little international part also :cool

- I am positive towards the fans of the band, but I just felt disappointed when I read that some one had bought some tickets, just to sell them again - I mean that made it even harder for some poor european fan to get his hands on a ticket...

But basically I would love to meet americans in Europe and welcome you all to our part of the world - it seems slightly different over here:)

I do apologise (have done so in the other thread too, wrote a reply!), but my comments were completely tongue-in-cheek - hard to get the British humour to come across on American message boards, and I would be in too good a mood by the time I was at a Dave show to punch anyone :p

Having been to see DMB in the US in 2004 I have nothing but good things to say about the opportunity to go somewhere else to see something you love, and I received nothing but a great reception when I was over there from everybody (especially the cab drivers, who were suspiciously excited about dropping me off at the Tweeter Center both nights :p)

There's a big difference however between Europeans going to America to see shows and Americans coming over here. For starters, although it seems like you're just buying tickets for shows and that it can't make much of a difference if you went on Ticketmaster like anybody else, it does make a big difference. These shows are tiny in comparison, which is perhaps part of the attraction, but there's so many more US fans, and once a small proportion of those starts buying tickets that's it - the show is sold out. If Dave's profile in Europe were to be raised over the next few months and there were a few hundred or even a few thousand more fans who wanted to go see Dave it would be impossible, because all the tickets are gone. He's then coming over to play to an audience of people who are already fans. You might say this is kind of the point, but Dave has himself expressed many times in shows themselves that he's really using these shows to reach out and entertain people who don't get to see him, and to try and build up his fanbase overseas, it really is impossible to do this to a crowd of US fans, however good they're intentions for coming to the shows are. Unfortunately it's really just a testament to the universal greatness of Dave that we're in a situation like this :p

It's nothing more than talk. It's like with everything- until it's officially announced, don't worry about it.

I know this isn't exactly the place for this, but I'm going to post in more appropriate places too.

I am looking for two tickets to the show in Milan. I've been to the ticketone website and it says "waiting for new availability" which I'm assuming means "sold out." They're both for Americans, but I live in Turkey and the friend I will be going with lives in Rome.

Any help would be appreciated.

For the last time in this thread: nothing will be definite until it's confirmed officially. Everything else is just speculation and talk.

Our Newcastle Tickets arrived today! What a treat after being sick abed for three days and missing our Thanksgiving.

Wow the packaging is posh compared to our Ticketmaster packaging- and the tickets are gynormous!

Question for you Englanders- do you have Halloween there? I am confused because when I lived there years and years ago I don't remember that being celebrated but I just got some pix e-mailed to me of my grandneice who lives in London in what looks like a Halloween costume, and pix of their carved pumpkins glowing. All I remember is Guy Fawkes day, not Halloween.

Can't really help except to tell you about my experience trying to get Milan tickets. When I went online the first day the tickets were supposed to be on sale, it said "waiting for new availablility." I figured this meant they sold out really quickly -- however, when I checked back yesterday, tickets were available and I was able to purchase them. I hope you found that window of availability, but if not, keep checking back... the website is kind of screwy and there didn't seem to be any reason why they became available when they did.

Halloween is celebrated, although it's nothing more than a chance for shops to put up a different type of decoration (as is the case with all other holidays). Bonfire Night is celebrated on the 5th November...

tim is apperantly free during those dates, but it isn't confirmed whether he will come along (and also if Dave wants it or not)

by the way, tickets for Brussels now sold out as well. has taken a *bit* longer, but not that much ..., less than 10 days

Yeah, they still do the whole "Trick or Treat" thing, it's just a few that you see going round rather than kids from all over the neighbourhood.

I made the mistake of going online today just to see how much it would cost me to get to one of the England shows. WAY cheaper than I ever would have guessed. Plus my friend has family in Manchester and she wants to go to. Cheap air fare and a free place to stay?!?!?! Please someone talk me out of this! I know that I do not need to be spending the money but I feel like I cannot pass it up.

Haha, ok... Talking you out of this, has now started:
You. Don't. HAVE. To. Go.
You. Could. Buy. Something. Cool. Instead.
Plus: You. Have. Probably. Seen. DM/DMB/D&T. Many. Times. Before

I hope I was clear on this?

You know, I just want to say to all of you in Europe that I do feel your pain about the lack of shows you get. DMB is such a passionate thing for all of us and it must seem so unfair with these Vegas shows just announced.
