People live in their own vacuum sealed world where their team is rules and everyone else is insignificant. The Yankees are playing .714 baseball in July (15-6 in July) and .769 since the All-Star break (10-3 since the All-Star Break).

We're 7.5 back in the division and 5.5 back in the Wild Card.

We're 7.5 back in the division and 5.5 back in the Wild Card. He was simply pointing out that all the Yankee fans are running their mouths about how they have such an easy schedule and it gives them a chance to catch the Red Sox, yet NONE of them are realizing that while they're playing losers, the Red Sox are playing just as many losers. Just stop acting like you're being attacked and read what people are saying...

:lol Not gonna happen, but I'm sure this is EXACTLY what Yankee fans want to hear with them chasing the Sox:

Trade Winds: Teixeira out of Texas?
Boston appears to be the front runner to land first baseman
By Jim Molony / MLB.com

With less than a week to go until the trade deadline, it's looking more and more as though Mark Teixeira's days as a Ranger are numbered in single digits.
According to multiple Major League sources, trade talks centering on the Texas first baseman have intensified in the last 24 hours.

Though six teams -- the Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants -- were among the clubs most active in their pursuit of Teixeira, as of midday on Tuesday, is appears that the Yankees and the three California teams, while not completely dropping out of the picture, are not in the forefront, either.

The Dodgers appear to have turned their focus on pitching. The Yankees are interested, but have been unwilling to part with their best young pitchers. The Giants have also stepped back after considering the price for Teixeira. And the Angels, after shipping right-hander Ervin Santana to the Minor Leagues, do not appear to be a trade match with the Rangers.

The Red Sox have been holding on to their young pitchers, but with the Yankees gaining ground in the American League East, the winning return of Jon Lester on Monday night and the expected return of Curt Schilling next week, they may be in a better position to part with some arms.

The Rangers have scouted a number of Boston's Major League and Minor League pitchers recently, including Lester, left-hander Kason Gabbard, Triple-A right-hander Clay Buchholz and Double-A right-hander Michael Bowden.

The Braves are balking at requests for catcher/first baseman Jarrod Saltalamacchia or shortstop Yunel Escobar. In any case, the Rangers are more likely to want Major League-ready pitching in any deal for Teixeira.

That might seem to make the Red Sox the front runners to land Teixeira, but with just days to go, predicting Teixeira's destination is a dicey proposition.

"Boston could have pulled the trigger already, but they haven't," said one source. "They could decide to go with what they've got."

We'll see. I think Braun's just been at it too long not to give it to him if he keeps it up, despite how well Lincecum pitches in the 2nd half.

Short back-story: My family and I are attending the Brewers/Mets at Miller Park this coming Tuesday. For this game, we will be sitting in Bud Selig's luxury box. My mom called his office the other day to work on the final arrangements, and this is part of the conversation between my mom and Bud Selig's secretary:

Mom: So is there any chance that the commissioner will be able to stop by and say 'hi' that game, and maybe even watch it with us?
Secretary: Well, Bud is kind of on a 'Bonds chase' right now...
Mom: Oh, well tell him we would love it if he was able to stop by.
Secretary: I will. He would much rather watch the game with you than follow Bonds around.

Here's to hoping that Bonds breaks the record this week so we can watch the game with Bud Selig!

Yea, you're right, Theo's 34 and is responsible for bringing in Schilling, Papi, O-Cab, Millar, Mueller, Roberts, and Foulke for our WS run. He brought in Beckett, Lowell and Dice-K. He got Nomar out of town. He is also responsible for drafting Pedroia, Lester, Papelbon, Youkilis, Buccholz, and other studs. Plus, don't forget Tito, and bringing the first WS win since 1918. All in the first 5 years of his tenure. Granted Schuerholtz will probably take over as Commish, but let's not also forget he was in the NL East, which was the weakest division in baseball for the past 15 years. He's a very good GM, but what Theo has done in the first 5 years is unparallelled...

Theo has done some very nice things for us, and I appreciate him for that.

But if you consider that Schuerholtz didn't have half the finances that the Sox do these days, makes his resume more impressive. And most of the Braves stars of the 90's were home grown talent.

Scheurholtz went out and got Maddux and Avery, the others were already in the system, so all he should get credit for is not trading them. Theo went out and got 4 of our 5 starters this season, PLUS our closer, our entire infield, our DH AND 2 of our 3 OFs. Gwynn's speech today was fantastic. Didn't get to here Ripken's, but Gwynn is a compete class act. We could use more guys like him in the game.

It was nice to see Garza not take another loss after a very solid outing. He's been great since the call up. Hopefully there's more to come.

Canseco's got a new book coming out, and apparently it's got info on A-Rod. He wouldn't say what it is, but interesting nonetheless.

Jackson is definitely involved in talks, mainly because there's no place for him with Tex coming to town, possibly Anderson as well, but I doubt it because aside from him, they really have no pitching prospects that are expected to do much And Chris Young? Not a chance in hell...

exactly and what i'm saying is although there's no way the rangers will get all 3...they can afford to ask for it because the dodgers don't want to see the the D'backs get Tex

kevinmavs
07-30-2007, 11:58 AM
are you stupid? Connor Jackson and Chris Young will be just as good as Tex in a few years.

maybe the pitching stud... but even then the old unit they have is breaking down... again.

i personally like the LAD package. With Harrison hurt it's looking more and more like a Tex and Mahay for Salty, Jo Jo Reyes, and 2 other prospects not named Andrus.

AZ can't make that trade because it's 2 pieces of their starting lineup for one player in Tex. But you guys telling me that i'm an idiot for thinking this is retarded in itself. Justin Upton is in AAA and ready to go so I think if they Dodgers substantially upped their offer to include Kershaw then AZ would CONSIDER not OFFER but CONSIDER adding Upton or Chris Young to the deal.

I'm not stupid...i'm just saying we can actually afford to make unrealistic offers because so many teams are in the hunt for him....and the best part is that we don't even have to trade him if the deal is not PERFECT.

If this is true, Mark Teixeira is officially a fucking moron:

Rangers owner Tom Hicks revealed Tuesday that he offered Mark Teixeira an eight-year, $140 million contract two weeks ago.

The Rangers became more intent on trading him after he turned down the proposal. "I thought we made enough of an offer to keep him a Ranger for life," Hicks said. :I'm disappointed he turned it down, but I think we did everything we could to keep him. Now, we've got some very good young players coming here and I feel with some good moves and free-agent signings, we can be a championship team."

I like Tex...i liked how he played here and he was great for the community but for the last 3 years he's bullshitted us with "i want to finish my career in Texas" blahh blah blah i wish he would have stepped up and said honestly there is no plan here and it's time for me to go instead of the putting everything in a grey area.

Honestly if i'm Mike Young a truly good guy...i'm regretting signing that extenston. There is no plan here out of the GM or owner.

Right now I've locked up $75 for winning the first two quarters and am currently leading the third. Total points gets $200 at the end of the year, so I'm looking at somewhere between $275 and $350.

Right now I've got Peavy, Sabathia, Meche, King Felix and Hill starting. Sheets is on the DL and Clemens is just taking up a spot on my bench. I've got Saito and Wagner slotted in as my relievers.
