It's insane that a band so humungous (sp?) in the US never plays shows outside of US. We are bombarded with television, Hollywood productions and music from the US all the time, but the best thing to have ever evoked from the US (DMB - if anyone was unsure what I meant) well - we have to travel to US see the best thing.
But finally they decide to come back to Europe. I am ecstatic - but I don't have any money. I used my "music" money to plan a 4 day trip to Ireland to see Dave in Belfast and Dublin

There is no General Admission at Wembley Arena (it's 12,300, all seated) which leads me to believe that it is indeed Wembley Stadium they'll be playing. Other concerts are scheduled for around that time anyway, and it's supposed to be open early next year, and it looks pretty much finished from what I can see (most of the cranes have gone, the pitch and seating is completed etc.).

12-06-2006, 07:58 AM
After some investigation I beg to differ, I don't think it will be all seating at the Arena, only because I went to see Tool there last Monday and the floor area was all standing.
Also the proof that it must be Wembley Arena can be found on the official Muse website http://www.muse.mu/index.php if you click on this link it will tell you on the right hand side of the screen that Muse are the first band that will be playing the new Wembley Stadium and that is happening on 16th June 07.
On the tour section of the DMB website it states Wembley Arena also. It looks like the "stadium" was just a typing error on the email that got sent out.

Congrats to you all finally getting to see DMB, you guys are in for an amazing show. I'm just going to apologize upfront for anyone that complains that this will mess up the US dates, we have nothing to complain about as we are lucky enough to see them every summer (and most of us for multiple shows). Congrats, good luck to you all getting great seats!

Hey there,
I'm new to this forum !
I read my e-mail this morning and found out that DMB are playing in Europe...and in Portugal !!!!! (my home country)
Well, this made me an incredibly happy man !!:cool
Why? for 2 reasons:
1- I'll finally have a chance to see them perform live ! Jut 3 or 4 days ago I was talking to my sister and saying that the only way we could see DMB would be by travelling to the US... well I guess not !!!! :D
2- Usually, because we're a small country, bands do not play here when on mini tours (the only I recall doing that was the Smashing Pumpkins), only in regular European tours.

Like is the airport and venue and all close together in the city like??
I'd love to go work on my Tan & go to the Portugal show if i didnt have to venture around far.
Would also only be able to get prob 2days off work cause am doing Brussells & London on top of the Dublin show.

wondering if anyone can answer question for me.
i'm not a member of the warehouse, but am thinking of joining because someone mentioned that it will be 'early entry' to the venue for warehouse members...so for that reason i'm thinking of joining the warehouse to have this opportunity but........
i don't have a visa/mastercard (only have a maestro card) so i was gonna buy a warehouse 'gift' membership for me using my stepdads credit card for the puchase. i found out that there are 'no name changes' for the tickets, so therefore the person who bought the tickets on the site has to be there to collect them at the venue.........
........i'm not going with my step dad to the gig, but am going with my boyfriend. so i'm wondering if anyone knows, if when i join the warehouse, if i can request tickets using my boyfriends credit card details for the purchase.....or if the warehouse membership would have to be in him name for me to do that..........anyone know?
cheers

Sorry to say, but Minusa misinformed you.
The airport and the venue for DMB's show are quite close to each other, that's true, but there's no subway connection between them !
It's a less than 10 minute taxi ride and a 15 minute airport shuttle bus ride ! ;)
Anyway, it's very easy and fast to get there from the airport !
But it's a fact that it takes less than 30 minutes to get to the Beach (Carcavelos, Estoril, Tamariz, Cascais are just a train ride away !!!) :)

You should be able to pay for the tickets on request using his credit card even if the WH membership was in your name. I've paid on my dad's credit card before and taken it to the venue and as long as you say your name and give them the card to check the tickets against you should be OK.
As I've said on the other thread I highly doubt there'll be a special queue for WH members for the Band shows like there are for some of the solo shows in Feb/March, so I wouldn't rely on that for getting your tickets.
If anything, depending on the Box Office arrangements at the Arena (if that's where you're planning on going), you might find yourself further back in the queue because you have to pick up your tickets at the Box Office first and then queue (as they hold the WH tickets at the venue).

I stand corrected, and I'm actually quite concerned now considering as far as I can tell the majority of these requests are going to be filled up by US fans coming over, does this mean we're going to have an entire crowd of US fans that are allowed to enter before everybody else, considering the majority of UK fans will be buying via LN/TM?

Well firstly I'm not sure itll actually get provided, esp since it hasnt been announced through WH. Also, I think matt, you might be overestimating the number of US fans thatll be flying over just for this show. Sure, they'll be ex-pats there, but i think that US fans who are gonna fly over to europe will come for the (lot more intimate) solo shows, not for relatively large full band shows when the US tour is just round the corner.
Certainly i've seen a lot less us fans post about flying over for these shows as opposed to when the solo gigs were announced

That is true, and I've said the before that the draw of the solo shows is much bigger than a full band show would be.
But also remember that Ants is in no way any reflection of the general DMB fanbase. It represents probably the most restrictive, conservative, honest and open members of the community - but the Warehouse emails go out to all members. I'd say that nearly all of the DMB fans I spoke to in May this year had no idea of the DMB online community, and came over because they just seem to be able to afford it and Americans seem to have some obsession with London.

The great thing is though that americans who can afford it would probably have already booked their flights for the solo tour, especially since that has stops in amsterdam and paris. And a lot of the people that come over are college students, and these dates clash with exams (whereas the solo dates are in spring break). I think im just trying to be hopefuly. But think about it, standing holds at least 5000 people, realistically, a couple of hundred american members arnt going to spoil it, even if they take the first two or three rows (wembley is so massive that 200 WH members arnt going to take up very much space).

I just called the WH to renew my membership and asked about the Lisbon show. The girl that I talked to said that there will be General Admission seating on the floor and that WH members will have the opportunity for early entry for this area. I went to the San Francisco Golden Gate Park show and WH members had the opportunity to get early access in order to get closer to the stage (preferred viewing) and I was able to be within the equivalent of about 6 or 7 rows from the stage! I will be going to the Lisbon show and will be coming from Virginia. I'm really looking forward to the show and the opportunity to visit Portugal :bounce

Thanks for the valuable info, wooly8 and whirl_it_up!!!
I joined WH just some hours ago, then thought, Oh what the heck, this is not useful at all, but advanced entry sounds good to me nonetheless! :D
Just two remarks / questions:
1. I find it very sad that there is a restriction of two tickets per person. I know why this is done, but still I would like to buy at least three or four tickets!
2. Does anybody know whether the WH prices (such as $55 for Brussels + ca. $5 handling cost) are gonna be the same as the public sale ticket prices? (compare with solo concerts)
Thanks,
Julian.

Yeah I dont think there is much that would keep me from drinking beer. One question for you, I have never had Danish beer... is it as carbonated as American beer?
As for the Warehouse, it will be an interesting experience waiting in line for a Dave show again. At the Gorge I have only had one GA show. I have been really lucky in the past with Warehouse!
I thought I was excited to see him at Qwest Field with the Stones, but I have a feeling this will take the cake

I don't think that American beer is that carbonated but I could be wrong. Anyway, the european beer has "just enough" sparkling feeling a stronger beer taste than say Bud Light or Coors.

That is one of the thing that excites me about the trip. Aside from getting knockered and seeing Dave, trying out the beers they dont import into the states will be a real treat

I will certainly take that into consideration... My friend and I are looking at a city to go to for a couple of days before the Copenhagen show.. Lisbon was certainly a city we tossed around. What type of beer is Sagred?

its not Sagred... it's Sagres and it's a lousy beer! the best from portugal is Super Bock!
altough there is nothing like the great corona or carlsberg... here in Portugal they are very popular too...
i'm curious to see the stage! cause 24th may we have here beyonce, so little time to put things standing

I get to see him sitting on a chair thats about it. Full set shows will have to wait till summer.
His crew is very effiecient with their time i would assum he will have something similar to his summer tour with 2-3 screens (depending on the venue) But he always has a really great light show, so i wouldnt expect anything much different from that. guess venue size might have something to do with it.
thanks for the tip on Super Bock:thumbsup

Sorry, that's what happens when typing too fast !!! :o
Baah, Sagres is waaaaaaaaaaay better than Super Bock !!!
PS: For those who are not Portuguese, there's usually a kind of "war" between Sagres fans and Super Bock fans !!! :violent :lol

Tickets for DMB in Dublin are 60Euros-thats Very Very much i think, even say pop Pop Acts like Justin Timberlake & all those Fools Don't even charge that much.
Hmm, i dont mind, but i think this Price would put off any Causual Listeners from going to the show,I'll be amazed if they sell out the Dublin show (8,000 at the Venue)

Personally I really like Wembley Arena, it's a bit colder in personality than say the Apollo but it has excellent acoustics, DMB will have a great sound in there. If it was a choice between the Arena and the SBE anyway I'm glad they went with Wembley. It's quite pretty anyway, not just a building, and it looks great at night.

Wish I could have gone to Australia, would have been awesome, but financial obligations to things other than myself forced me out of it :p I think I would have had to go by myself anyway (not sure I would have been able to convince anyone else to spend that kind of money on DMB) and I've done that before in the States - waiting to go to a DMB concert in sunny England with 10 of my friends now, think that's what I'm looking forward to most at the moment.

I have had to buy central park dvd twice becuase the first disc wore out! seriously folks, get your best friends round, open a good bottle of single malt
and put on that dvd loud, i guaruntee they will leave DMB fans.

Actually, I lied. They were doing maintinence on the sight, but the page came up like it does when they're sold out. Still sorta moving towards the back though. I figure that in the back of an 11,000 seat arena still isn't that bad.
