Hi newbie here, this is my first post! Just received my email from the DMBand website confirming new tour dates for 2007. I nearly fell off my chair when I read it and realised they are finally coming to London! My boyfriend and I have waited a very very long time for this to actually happen and to be honest never thought it would.
I'm not a warehouse member but was wondering whether if I joined today would that mean I would be able to purchase tickets today? (They don't go on sale to the public until 15th Dec). Wembley Arena is pretty large so I'm kind of guessing that if I do have to wait until 15th then it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Also do you think that it will be all seating at Wembley or will the arena floor be standing only. (Hope it's standing so that you can get close to the stage!)
Any advice about WH etc. would be appreciated.
Many thanks

If you join today you will be able to request (I think it says this at the very bottom of the page). I requested tickets and they are 'General Admission' so it will be standing on the pitch.
I can't see them filling it though...

Congrats on them coming to your city!
If you join Warehouse today, you will be able to request tickets, and then you have to wait for a few days to get confirmed or not, on whether you got your tickets. But since it's all on the 'floor' you could save the money that it would cost you to sign up for Warehouse, and hope to get tickets december 15th when they go on public sale

Are all the tickets for Wembley general admission? Or are there some seating? If they are all general admission surely there's no point in joining WH just for this gig?

Some of the tickets are reserved i.e. seats. The price is $80 regardless.

How much is a normal DMB show in the US?
IIRC it was about $55 for the ticket when I went, plus about $10 in fees, so round about $65 for a general amphitheatre show.

I'm under the impression they're trying to price the US fans out of coming over considering how strong the pound is against the dollar at the moment; although that's still at the expensive end of ticket prices for concerts (~ £40). Although if you're bothering to buy flights and accomodation, an extra $10-$20 on the ticket prices isn't going to make much difference.

They are not playing Wembley Stadium which seats 90,000, they are playing Wembley Arena which seats 11,000.

Thats rude, DMB shows in UK and OZ far more pricey than the US shows, just rude. Won't stop me going at all, but just, I'll say it again, RUDE!!
They said earlier, if you get WH tickets fro general The General admission shows for the solo tour, you get first in que status, so I guess, a WH line that gets let in first... hoping this is the same deal for the band show too! Yeehaa, se you ate the front!

Is it definitely Wembley Arena instead of Wembley Stadium? Makes sense since I doubt DMB could fill the stadium, and it isn't actually finished yet. (No worries...it's only a year behind schedule....)
And....will they be available through ticketmaster.uk? They're not listed on the site yet.

As I said in the other thread, it's very unlikely as these tickets are open to US and non-US WH members for requests, and I don't think the WH are stupid enough, knowing a lot of the WH ticket holders will now be US fans, to stick a load of US fans at the front of the queue. I can't see it going down too well. I think they would have said something by now anyway. Those shows were also standing only, and all these shows (with the exception of Brussels I think) are a mixture of General Admission and some tiered seating.

Of course, tickets are VATable. That and the fact that the dollar is INCREDIBLY weak at the moment mean that the dollar value of the tickets is going to be higher than it would be in the US because these shows aren't taking place there... it's basic economics.
And....will they be available through ticketmaster.uk? They're not listed on the site yet.
Either that, or LiveNation.co.uk, or both. They're all one and the same thing anyway, and Live Nation operates the events at Wembley Arena. And yes, it's definitely the Arena.

Thanks. I'll have livenation on speed dial on the 15th.
For any Americans thinking about coming over for the show, be prepared to pay out the ass for everything. The exchange rate sucks (2 to 1 right now), and London is one of the world's most expensive cities. A pint of beer will cost you $8 - $9. Pack of cigarettes will run you $10 - $11. Meal in an average quality restaurant will be $30 - $40, extra value meal at McDonalds will be about $10.
Also, that particular week is one of the biggest vacation weeks of the year, so hotel rooms are going to be at a premium. There will also be thousands of students backpacking around Europe at that time, so If you're thinking of staying at a hostel (there are some good ones), book as soon as you get the tickets.
(and no, I'm not just trying to discourage you from buying tickets so that I have a better chance!)

I dont get why the ticket price is so high. The band surely do not need the money? If you're looking to sell out a 12000 capacity arena with a band that are relatively unknown here in the UK, the smart way to do it is to make tickets cheap, encouraging casual listeners and friends of the more hardcore fans (who may not neccessarily know the music) to come along. This is also the way to convert more fans to dmb here in the UK. When I saw the beastie boys in wembley arena, they only charged £25, and that struggled to sell out...

i emailed warehouse and asked them about the 'advanced entry' for warehouse members. heres what they had to say>>>
The Warehouse is offering General Admission Floor as well as Reserved seating to members. We do not guarantee tickets but if the demand does not exceed availability, we should be able to fulfill all requests. All members have the same chance at being confirmed. We will be offering "first in line priority" to Warehouse members confirmed for the General Admission Floor tickets.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions. Our ticketing request period closes on Monday, December 11, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. EST. The ticketingrequest period is not first come-first serve.

If you request and are confirmed for Warehouse tickets, on the evening of the show, you will need to present a valid photo ID or a credit card with your name on it as proof to be able to pick up the tickets. You do not necessarily need to present the card used to order the tickets.

40 quid is a joke!
As far as I can remember, it was 85 quid for The Eagles and around 130 for the Rolling Stones (which unsurprisingly did not sell out).
When I was a lad I paid £2.50 to see Lynyrd Skynyrd. But that's just me showing my age!

I think it's a combination of the really weak value of the dollar at the moment, considering the cut that Red Light will take back to the states with them will have to be converted back into dollars (and therefore lose a lot of value), and the fact that because both the venue AND promoters for this are LiveNation (ie CC), they're going to be taken a huge chunk of the ticket price anyway, so RL will want the ticket prices even higher to make sure that the money they're taking won't be so low it'll be worth nothing once it's converted.
It is a joke though really, they're NOT an established band in the UK but they're charging boyband prices. Everything will go this way once the entire live media industry is owned by Clear Channel though.
(and no, I'm not just trying to discourage you from buying tickets so that I have a better chance!)

:thumbsup Although there seem to be a few Brit Ants on here, I'd say 40 quid is serious money for a band that has a minimal fan base, at best, in the UK. If they wanted to build a fan base, at least in the UK, they should have decided to play at one of the summer festivals like Reading or Glastonberry.
Although, I do think the show will sell out, mainly with drunk American college students on their first trip overseas. BTW, if you're planning on coming over and making an ass of yourself, the best place for you to find a place to stay is in the Highbury area of London. They love Americans there. ;)

does anybody have an idea about the different ticket types for the wembley show? (warehouse tickets)
at the warehouse page is a link at the venue info with a seating chart which shows the whole lower level as standing area and the seats are where the tribune is, right?
is "reserved seating" the tribune section and "general admission" the standing area? i understand that normally in the states reserved seats are better cuz GA is in the back of the audience at the lawn. but here it´s the other way round, right?

Yes. General Admission is the standing area shown in front of the stage, and the Reserved Seating is the balcony of seating that surrounds the standing area.

Yes. General Admission is the standing area shown in front of the stage, and the Reserved Seating is the balcony of seating that surrounds the standing area.
thanks for the answer!
now when i´m trying to think about the best spot i´d guess it would be in the standing area?
sure i know this is a subjective point of view but maybe someone who knows the arena can tell how far away the balcony area will be?
e.g. even if one gets quite good spots in the seating area you´ll be much further away from stage than from a middle section spot at the standing area... ?!
and next question: will it be rather crowded at the front section and people pushing around...?
i know this is also an subjective perspection and depends on various things but maybe somebody can give some thoughts and share experiences...
sometimes the venue will build up "wave brakers" and only allow a certain number of people in each seperate section. do they do this in the arena as well...?
i´m just trying to figure out what type of ticket to order from the warehouse. i favor the seating area but i have a feeling my friend who´s going to join has opposite feelings. so i want to look at all pro´s and con´s
thanks again,
kris

Well, maybe they will add some more dates in Europe but its not very likely. We will also most likely be missing the start of the US summer tour. I believe this year it started in late May. Just hope we don't miss our Blossom show or Starlake, we'll probably miss Starlake. We'll be in Europe until 6/23.

Keep an eye on both Ticketmaster.co.uk and LiveNation.co.uk this coming Friday morning. The WH says the tickets go on sale there at 10am, however they also say the Dublin shows go on sale at 10am but TM currently lists that as 9am, so it could be as early as that. All times are GMT (so will be either 10am or 11am CET).
The Wembley show isn't on there at the moment but will be by that time. Just keep checking back until then.

I've got my ticket and I'm excited about the show, but no way is this going to sell out. I'd be surprised if it is isn't moved to a smaller venue like the Hammersmith Apollo. I think at bout 45 quid per ticket, they'd struggle to sell out Brixton here.

They are nowhere near established enough over here to sell it out, especially at that price. They'll get all the fans who've been waiting or who are flying in, but outside of that, I doubt there will be much casual interest for that price.
Grouty
12-14-2006, 04:37 PM
Fair enough I think they may well be just enough patiently waiting fans and people flying in to see them to sell it out despite the price. Its hard to tell how many fans in England (and Europe in some cases) there are that would want to go to the show.

I've got my ticket and I'm excited about the show, but no way is this going to sell out. I'd be surprised if it is isn't moved to a smaller venue like the Hammersmith Apollo. I think at bout 45 quid per ticket, they'd struggle to sell out Brixton here.
I think what's more crucial is that the floor tickets will almost definitely sell out, which are probably the more hardcore-fan friendly ones.

oh well, I guess I don't get his humour.
I just can't see why it's necessary to be able to see how many posts people have made on these boards.
I mean some fans on here tend to seek the highest post-count or whatever it's called. And they post many crappy messages just to get their post-counter up. And, sadly, some people think ( without knowing the basis of many of the posts ) that users with many many posts are "cool" and reliable, but the post-counter can be very misguiding...

Yeah, you'll need to pick them up from the box office inside the venue. Whether you have to queue first and then pick them up when you get to the front, or whether you'll need to go pick them up first then get in the queue I don't know, but the best thing to do is to ask when you get there - they'll be people around, and signs up pointing to the box office as well.

London is expensive, but it's more diverse (and certainly friendlier for yanks) than any other part of England. Generally best to stick to central London though, the West End has loads of places to go out.

First off, I was joking.
Secondly, London isn't Bournemouth. Bournemouth IS a shithole.
Third, the north is friendly if you know to order a Bombardier when you walk in the pub. I think it'd be hard to tell a yank exactly where to go if he was going north to guarantee he'd have a good time without accompanying him yourself. It's far easier to go out in London and have a good time if you're not sure what you're doing or where to go if you stick to the more popular places. I'd wouldn't be worried about him being lost on Oxford Street at 1 in the morning, however I would be if he were in Stoke.

"The world’s most famous indoor music venue, Wembley Arena is a spectacular setting for events. With a maximum capacity of around 12,750, the Arena plays host to major music stars throughout the year. Flexible staging allows seated, standing and in-the-round formats. In addition, Wembley Arena's versatility means that different styles of events can also be presented. Short Hall formats reduce the capacity to around 4000, 6000 or 8000, providing excellent facilities for larger conferences."
Was hoping the cup final would be on around the same time so one trip I could see the mighty Blues lift the first FA cup in the new Stadium. Its deemed to be. Symmetry needs to be maintained after winning the last cup final before they tore it down.

I'd say it's much more likely to be someone from the UK, as much as I'd love them to bring someone like the Flecktones or Robert Randolph over. I doubt it'll be someone that big however, likely to be somebody equivalent to The Magic Numbers before they were big, like when they supported Athlete.

:BANG Regarding the multiple comments about "drunk American college students" from UK fans... As an experienced DH, seven year WH member and a somewhat "anti-american American" I related to your prejudice &/or reservation. After attending last year's Hammersmith Apollo show I was fairly embarrassed to witness some "ugly American (Canadian?) behavior/behaviour". Please consider 2 points: 1) Tourists (especially North Americans) tend to act like a-holes when on holiday (particularly after a few pints) and 2) A significant part of the (tour-going) fan crowds are college students (DMB's bread and butter in the early days). You can't escape it and have to accept it as part of the overall experience. Trust me, you can't beat the vibe at an incredible show (ever seen the Grateful Dead?) and as with daily life it's a better experience if you focus on what makes it good. Having said that, it will still p--s me off to see someone freaking out so as American I apologize in advance. It's going to be great and I hope all the UK fans love the show!!!!! :hump

Thanks for the pictures. It will be a treat to see DMB in a smaller venue than the "ginormaous" venues in the US. We will be traveling from Chicago and going to all 4 shows that week. And to think that I was supposed to go into retirement 3 years ago after a pilgrimage to the Gorge....Can't wait to experience the drink, food and culture.

i emailed Warehouse a while back, asking about this. here's what they had to say in a reply:
for most venues, Warehouse members will receive "first in line" priority. More information will be made available about the first in line priority closer to the show.

after the dave and tim shows in europe i emailed the warehouse (originally asking something about my renewal) and mentioned to them, that i was really pleased with this special treat we got with first entry, unique experience for us european fans ... blah, blah (i meant it though....) and they should continue arranging shows like this....
they answered, that they got many positive reaction from fans and they will do their best to keep up the work...
but there will be more warehouse members ticket holders now, right? were non-europeans allowed to order tickets this time as well?

Yup, the requests were open to all Warehouse members.
There's also a big difference between the small, single-line venues of the D+T tour and a multi-entrance 12,000 seater arena. Just gonna make sure I turn up early...

The ironic thing is, it's really not very hard to do. You have a Warehouse line by the Box Office that's clearly labelled as a line for Warehouse members to pick up their tickets. You let that line in first, before the doors open, then when everybody from that line is in (which won't be anywhere near as long as the rest) you just open the other doors. But I still can't see them pulling it off.

I have a question. My sister (who's also in the US), who's not on ants (shame on her) is a HUGE dmb fan and day one warehouse member. She jsut found out yesterday that she gets to go to England for work and she's going to be in London on the 30th. She just about fell out of her chair. She immediately tried to get tickets through Ticketmaster UK and found out she needs a UK address for shipping. So she contacts a co-worker and gets his address just to find out she also needs a UK billing address. She doesn't know the co-worker well enough to as him to but the ticket for her, even though she can reimburse immediately via paypal.
Does anyone here have any suggestions on how she can get ahold of a ticket, while be in the US?

yep, i was already mentioning this in another thread about the warehouse.
it´s not hard to do, but it even didn´t work out very well at the d+t tour with much less people (it was different for the venues though... in cologne it turned out fine but amsterdam was just a big mess)
on the other hand one could argue, that the crews from the arenas are used to handle bigger bunches of people so lets all wait and see what happens...
i don´t like my personal attitude right now though. i´m worried about things i can´t change anyways while i should be looking forward to see some great shows... i tend to focus on negative aspects i believe...

If she is a Warehouse member she can get them there. I just got some extras for friends on the instant ticket bit. They don't need shipping address, it's Will Call only.

Hello!!
I was wondering if there is anyone going to the show from the bournemouth area. I got my tickets, but I still haven't sort out anything related to transportation and (if there is the need for) accomodation.
I've never been in the wembley arena before and I know is a bit far off the center of london. Which means that I probably wont be able to catch a bus back to bournemouth on the same night (last bus leaves at around 11.30pm). I still have to check train times though.
If there is anyone driving from around this area and is willing to give me a lift that would be very nice! and of course, im going to help with petrol money.
aditional info: im a 26yr old student at bournemouth uni . and im extremely excited about this show.

Selling 2 Seated Tickets To Wembley Arena

S9, Row W, Seats 101 and 102
Wembly Arena, London
They were £43.25 each originally. I'll pay for the shipping, unless you're in NY and then I'll just deliver them.
The price is negotiable as I really just want to get them out of my hands/head. But I guess if nobody buys them, I'll just have to tell work to F off and go. If you're interested, fire me an e-mail at imcrae@wbresearch.com.

Really? I don't know who you've been going to see, but I don't think I've ever turned up to a headliner gig or signed act and had no queue at the door. Maybe after the doors open, and have been opened for a while, but certainly not just beforehand. I work just down from Wembley Arena and have been there on several occassions; if its even at half-capacity, there will be a queue come doors opening time.
This is all a moot point given the fact that the recent WH email gives me hope about the queueing situation anyway, but I'm still not convinced about them being able to pull it off.
Nope, Americans + beer = roudy people ruining Dave shows
As Bob mentioned; for Dave/D+T shows it does suck, but for this show I want everyone to be making as much noise as possible. The acoustics in the Arena are shit anyway, so I doubt it'll make much difference :p

what pub are all the ants going to before the show
Modern society considers the ant a pest, and due to the adaptive nature of ant colonies, eliminating one is near impossible. Pest control with regard to ants is more a matter of controlling local populations than eliminating an entire colony. Attempts to control ant populations of any kind are temporary solutions.
A pub crawl (sometimes called a bar tour or bar-hopping) is the act of one or more people drinking in a number of pubs in a single night, normally walking between them. It's purportedly called a "crawl" because the participants are literally crawling from pub to pub after getting drunk at the first few pubs.
Many European cities have public pub crawls that act as social gatherings for the local expat communities and tourists. These pub crawls focus on the social aspect of meeting new friends and being introduced to new bars in a strange city. Examples of these include the FunkyParis pub crawl in Paris, the famous Berlin pub crawl, the FunkyRiviera pub crawls in Nice and Cannes, the Colosseum pubcrawl in Rome, and the Dublin Literary Pub Crawl, which is themed around the haunts of James Joyce, Samuel Beckett and Brendan Behan. Professional actors lead the Dublin Literary Pub Crawl and perform spirited selections from the works of Irish writers. Smaller sized gatherings for pub crawls are also growing in popularity in the United States in which nationalities participate.

Obviously a London thing, I'm not from down here, every gig I've been to up North there's hardly been a queue, RHCP, Iron Maiden etc at the MEN Arena Manchester, I turn up about 6:15 and there's 4 queues of about 20 people in each and as soon as you get in everyone goes to the bar leaving the chance for me to get to the front.

There's a big open floor in front of the stage, that's the standing; around the 3 sides of this, at a higher level is the seating, though the majority of the tickets there will now be towards the back.

What stuff can we bring into the arena? I'm going to be up there all day with a backpack...can I take it in with me? Camera? Ipod? Stuff like that. I haven't had any trouble going to plays in London with it.

Read back a couple of pages to posts from late April/early May. I uploaded a bunch of photos from a concert I attended at Wembely Arena. I took a picture on one of those signs that stated the camera rules for the venue.

I'm here for study abroad. I have been here for four weeks. I know there are hotels by the arena don't know much they are. I'm staying in South Kensington, I know that there are some hostels around this area. South Kensington is an hour or so away from Wembley if you take the tube.

I just saw your picture about camera without flash. What does it mean exactly (sorry I'm french and English is not my mother language) :
Can I bring my camera and use it as long as I don't use flash or I just can bring my phone (sony erickson equiped with 2Mo Pixel Camera) ?
Sorry if I ask that but I don't want that a security man take my camera away saying : you can't use it !!

I think on an earlier post they mentioned that in the reserved section, they are strict on sitting...meaning you won't be standing. Take it for what it's worth but that post forced me to buy GA.

I myself have the W800i Sony Ericsson phone and I brought it along to take those pics you could see.
At the DP gig a month ago, they allowed digital cameras as long as you didn't use the flash. Some people still used it though but I didn't see anyone get thrown out because of it...

i honestly CAN NOT wait until Wednesday!!!!!
this weekend i should be concentrating on getting my college work done for my final arts show which is in a few weeks time.
…but its nearing Wednesday and i just can't get out of my head that DMB will be playing in front of me and 12,000 others on Wednesday night. it seems UNREAL.
i didn't get my hopes up for the recent D&T UK gigs, as i didn't want my expectations to be too high, and then be blown...but they made me high as a kite! it just couldn’t have been any better
...waiting to see the band for 6 years now, and its FINALLY happening in a few days time, crap! just can't imagine what its going to be like in a room listening to them all belt out their tunes live instead of getting a download of the 'latest' live show - hearing it, and feel awed. live just must be indescribable
Wednesday night, is THE NIGHT.
so cheers to the band for making it here, at last! :)

I heard that the UK has a strict curfew policy...is this correct?
If so, there's no way we're getting a set as good as yesterday's set was. They'd be almost an hour over on time.

There were still a few standing seats left on TM yesterday. Maybe you should try to sell the seated tickets and buy standing tickets.

I just took that from another thread on the WH message boards so who knows of the validity. I'm sure standing in reserved seats is inevitable.

It is reserved seating BUT YOU CAN STAND AND DANCE, it's not that you HAVE to sit, its that you are assigned a seat. Just like the venues they play in the States.
Dont worry, you wont be sitting down. Ive seen many gigs at the Arena and have NEVER seen people sitting on the sides so don't worry.
If anything, you'll be able to see the band better than anyone in GA/Standing AND you'll have the option to sit if you wish. Win win.

When are you planning on getting to the arena. I have class until 11 and then will be heading over soon after that. As far as I know the Wembley area doesn't have much to offer but that could have changed since the last time I was on the High Street there.

I always use Wembley central station, tube or silverlink, the high road has about 4 pubs/bars and its only a 10 min walk to the arena.

The quickest way (depending on where you're coming from) is Wembley Park station on the Jubilee line, though its an option for you to get to Wembley Central if the Bakerloo line is easier for some reason. From Wembley Park you just walk straight down the large steps, up Olympic Way and the arena is on your right.
There really isn't much in Wembley apart from some rather dodgy looking fast-food restaurants and a retail park; the nicest/largest pub in the area is probably The Torch which is opposite the side entrance of Wembley Park station, just up the road a bit on the right.

Yeah, I just looked on the back of the tickets and it specifically says that other people in reserved seating may stand.
