Community Gallery

While in short order we will be doing up a news story regarding this, we wanted to give you DMBc'ers the heads up and let you know that we have just pbrought our Community Gallery feature online. It's pretty simple:

No doubt that cameras are almost as prevalent at DMB shows as music is. We've expanded our Main Page mini-gallery that has proven so popular to a full-blown Tour Gallery for every show. Simple hit up Tour Central (http://www.antsmarching.org/tour) and find a show that you went to and have pictures from, and follow the directions to upload your pictures. The Community Gallery box is on the right hand side of a show's setlist page.

We plan to further flesh out this feature in the very near future. For the time being, you can go ahead and get started on sharing your concert experiences with the community!

sweet!!! although the 75 kb limit kills the quality of my pics that i have to resave from jpg to bmp. is there a way to alter a jpg to reduce the size? even if i resize it, the file size doesn't change. and most of my pics are over 100 kb.

You are able to back the quality of a jpg down, depending on the program you're using to resize. FYI - a bitmap (bmp) isn't a valid format to upload. Photoshop allows you to adjust the quality of the image when you save it for web as jpeg.

I might end up putting up a mini-FAQ on resizing images to work with the site.that'd probably help a lot of people. I figured it out... with MS Office Pic Manager there is a compress function that does it for you. Saved me lots of time!

PS. I just whored out the new function ;) do the pics go through moderator approval?

All pics are put into a moderation queue for approval, but I check it pretty often. As you can see, all your pictures are now approved and you can view them via the Tour Central Show page. :) Thanks for sharing!

My contribution to the gallery from the summer tour 2002, Gorge Amph. in Washington State. There's a rock climbing area right close to the venue. We were climbing and saw this RV pull up across the street from where we were. They started setting up all this equipment. At first we thought it was going to be Dave. It was a while before anything started happening and then my friend was at the top of a rock and yelled down that she was hearing Grace is Gone. We got down as quick as we could, I grabbed my camera out of my tent and we raced over. There was Stefan sitting on the edge of this cliff with his guitar. We knew they were filming the shows that weekend for the Gorge DVD, but we didn't know they'd be aournd where we were. We got to meet Stefan after they were done filming. We were taking pictures, but didn't know that the crew was filming us too.

thank you!!! i was just trying to get UMass pics up yesterday and was getting pissed off at my editing skills (or lack thereof) cause all of my resizing made the pictures hard to see and blurry...

If so, how large were they (file size)?i'll double check... i think they were pretty damn big... my gf took them with a fancy camera and i seem to remember something about the resolution being like 3000x1800 or something ridiculous... i can scale that back to a normal 1200x800 if that'll help

Had a 2GB memory card full of DMB pics and the security guard took my camera at the gate at Alpine last year. He tried to pull me into the security office; I said "Fuck You" and barely made it to my seat to see Two Step. Fucking guy still has my camera tho.

I'd love to take some pictures but I'm afraid my camera will get jacked by "the man" at the gate. As I have GA tickets, I don't want to risk having to return the camera to the car. Maybe I will take my chances with a disposable or something.
