My wife and I were re-planning our vacation this year. We pretty much decided we are going to do NYC. Browsing over some threads, I stumbled across a post from a newer member stating Randall's is no more. Is this correct? If so, when/why? If not, would people here recommend it? Thank you in advance:)

Could you post a link to the thread please?

Randall's Island is going to be going under some construction, and part of the area involved is where concerts were.

I wouldn't say it's official that Randall's is no more, but I'm sure they'll play some other large area in NY this summer. Maybe a stadium or a few nights at MSG.

construction is to start later this year, no details are official though it seems unlikely they will play there again

Gotchya, I did hear somewhere that there was something going up on Randall's island too.
I wouldn't go to Randall's as part of a vacation though. It was a means to see a show for me, but it's not high on my list of venue's to see them play at.
That said, as has been mentioned in this post, there are a ton of places DMB could and has played in the NYC area. MSG is always an option, and you do have (dare I say it) Yankee and Shea, plus Giants and the meadowlands is right across the river.

I didn't hear about Randall's til now...that's sad. Even though it was a so called "dust bowl," I enjoyed Randall's. They had a good thing there, stages on opposite ends of the island/lawn area, great concessions, good atmosphere. It wasn't the best place in the world, but to see a show there was fun. You can walk around forever, once inside...and the parking lot scene was a lot of fun. Anyways, heres to a different venue in NYC this summer, hopefully...

To the OP: you could always come to NYC and then take a short trip up to SPAC when they play there. (It's only about 3 hours away)

this has been covered several times, unless there is very recent new information, the construction/waterpark is NOT the same area where the concert is, and they WILL continue to have concerts there. traffic/parking is something entirely different to consider, but the concerts will stay there...which of course does not guarantee that dmb will do randalls again, but they will have the option.

way too small. Even with the added seats. Plus, its a reallllly shitty venue for sound and sight lines.
