There are close to 11,000 signatures on the petition already, so if you haven't signed it please do! My summer just would not be the same without the experience of seeing Dave at Deer CreeK!

Done - last year was my first trip to "the Crik..." (as my uncles lovingly call it) and the shows couldn't have been better. So this place needs to stay open!

Deer Creek is not the Red Rocks or Gorge but it's a hell of a lot better than Tinley and Riverbend.
I signed the petition -- they'll have to drag me away kicking and screaming from that venue. I have seen DMB along with a lot of other great acts there.

Not a damn thing. Real estate in Noblesville has seen its value rise dramatically over the past few years. Simon Properties is building close to a one million square foot open air mall across the street. Live Nation has opened up bidding to the highest bidder -- a development company will pay them handsomely and turn those 203 acres into probably a corporate business park.
At least we have this one last summer concert season before it all goes down.

This sucks bad!
I hate development, sprawl sucks.
I have seen to many shows at Deer Creek, not just DMB.
Well if the sale goes down I say we burn that bitch down after the second night show. Not really but sounds cool.

I signed it, but I question how much good it'll do. This sucks because it really is the only place for big bands to play in Indiana, besides heartless arenas. Just saw that Brad Paisley is playing there on June 7, so we know there will be a 2007 season. But I suppose as soon as the deal is done, corporate business will take precedence over concerts, and the concerts could be cancelled at any moment.

From an insider whom posted on another thread, Deer Creek's 2007 concert season is safe. Bidding won't end unit late this Spring. Live Nation will double dip with a pending sale and one more final concert season before Deer Creek faces the bulldozer.
The concert scene is fluid -- it's constantly evolving. When I attended concerts as a teenager back in early 90's, it seemed all a band needed was a couple hits on the radio and they were packing arenas and amphitheaters. The present time is quite different. The only bands you see packing numbers are bands that established themselves in decades past. Sure you might pack shows with new bands in a festival show, but those kind of bands couldn't book a 10,000 seat capicity venue solo much less a 24,000 seater like Deer Creek.
I'm not doubting there is still young ripe talent that can deliver high octane tunes. I just wish they had more support to revive the concert world.
Small clubs are fine. They provide an intimate atmosphere and are very fitting for some more mellow bands like Ray LaMontagne. But there's nothing like a big production outdoors during the summer months.
I represent the minority apparently. If you held a poll here in Noblesville about where do the locals stand on the issue of Deer Creek being sold, the majority would probably check the "Don't care" box. I can say that with confidence considering I live in Noblesville and a lot of the people who live out here have only lived out here for a few years. Sprawl -- a lot of new subdivisions are popping up left and right that house people who don't know Deer Creek from the White River.
I suppose the only real impact we, the fans, can make is to show to concerts this season. The ticket prices for lawn seats are usually fairly reasonable. Some shows even offer $10 lawn seats. If the majority of shows have a turnout like the Sammy Hagar show did last year (a Friday in July), then buy a nice business suit, write a good resume, and practice your interviewing skills because the only way you are going to step foot on those 203 acres again is if you a land a position at the all new Deerk Creek business park.

My childhood best friend works for Simon, although not in the "big mall" division - but maybe I can get some info. Went there last year for the first time, and really enjoyed the venue - although it wasn't, scenic wise, as good as I had heard. But, despite being at the beginning of the tour, had in my opinion, the best setlists of the tour.
