On the Dave Matthews Site they are inquiring to fans as to who they would like to see open for the band. So who do you all want to see.

I went with:
1) Robert Randolph & The Family Band
2) O.A.R.
3) Tea Leaf Green
4) Matisyahu

Their banjo player is god-awful when it comes to soloing.

1. Robert Randolph and the Family Band (from the first time I saw them in 2003, they have evolved so much)
2. Keller Williams - the guy has so much talent, and is amazing on the acoustic, give him a 45 minute set and let him rock
3. Gov't Mule - my favorite band on this list, give them at least 1:15 to play, they deserve much more, Warren is just out of this world; saw the New Years Eve show and they rocked
4. Tea Leaf Green - up and coming band, they are great and sound a lot like Phish just a bit less jammy
5. The North Mississippi Allstars - opened up for Mule on the 30th of December when I saw them, these guys rock just like Mule and are incredible.

I agree with a lot of the previous suggestions but for those lucky few who got to see Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals open for Dave in L.A., it was definitely the best opening act I have ever seen. The crowd was there early to see them, they rocked the house with just about every member of DMB watching from the rear of the stage.

Then they brought out the Blind Boys of Alabama to sing with Ben Harper! Amazing set that lasted over an hour but no one cared because it just blew everyone away. You know the opening act is kicking ass when Dave and the boys are watching and rocking out a little.

I saw them in Raliegh this summer and they weren't that great. Really kind of boring actually.

He's totally worth it! I saw him live 4 times so far and he blew my mind!
1. Jason Mraz

5. John Butler Trio

also Counting Crows, Ben Harper, The Fray, Tristan Prettyman, Martin Sexton, Ani Difranco

ok if your from the east coast i dought jason mraz will open for dave but it is a pretty good chance the west coast will get him for some shows. BUt i am hold hope just in case cause i would love to see him at spac

David gray would be a great treat along with RR and the Family band.

Macio parker would be awesome

Being someone who always goes to SPAC to see him i wouldnt mind seeing ALO come back cause they were pretty good last year

Also 2 years ago he had a funk band group named Galatic open and they were really good too i thought.

i would be a little surprised if Howie day open for them on the east coast especially with his new record coming out soon supposibly.

I think though for everyone who went to SPAC 3 years ago if they bring bakc Nappy roots it may be a disaster hahaha

so my top 5 would be
1) Howie Day
2) RR and the Family band
3) Macio Parker
4) Galatic
5) ALO

and a wild card even though i dought he will come to the east coast is Jason Mraz

Gov't Mule would be cool (they go to Europe a couple of days later anyway).
John Butler Trio or Blues Traveler are ok too .

01-16-2007, 06:42 AM
The Mule would be great! Let's hope this works out for Europe.

Counting Crows would also be a great opener. Altough that would be a bit strange because the crows are better known than DMB in Europe.
