I got some recording equipment for Chirstmas, and this was the first thing I did with it. It's not perfect; I was and still am getting use to using the software and everything. I'm not a good singer, so I decided to make it an instrumental track. There are three acoustic layers: the rhythm, melody, and I used a glass slide at the end.

If you have the time, feedback and constructive criticism would be great. I'm still not sure if the melody part sounds corney or not. It has a Boyd mandolin kind of sound to it. haha

nice job! turned out good.

i would only say the slide at the end sounds a little off.

playing was technically sound. however the melody overly made it sound muddy. if you want to still use it pan your tracks. as for the slide, it's really out of place and i'd get rid of it

Thanks for the comments guys.

Ya, for whatever reason, there was some lag when recording so neither part matched up with the rhythm guitar at first. I had to adjust them the best I could.

Also what do you mean by pan your tracks? Im still new to this stuff.

Thanks

panning is putting tracks at different volumes in different channels. for example some guys like to pan a rhythm track 60% right and a lead 40% left and maybe drums centered. what that means is that the rhythm track is heard more prominently on the right headphone. there should be a pan pod somewhere on whatever your recording software might be. another trick is just playing with levels so things dont get jumbled
