Long story short, I saw DMB at Hershey in 2005, and at Nissan last year. Next year, I'm heading to college, and so this may be my last chance to extensively catch DMB shows.
I live in south-central Pennsylvania, and want to figure out the best venues to catch them in...while also accounting for if the shows are back to back, or if there are gaps between them. So, any advice for the newbie, regarding venues, travelling, whether to go alone or bring folks, basically anything?

I'm from south central PA as well... Here is some advice that might help you out...
Shows to think about:
Scranton is an easy drive and the shows have been pretty solid the past two years...
Starlake (just outside of Pittsburgh and normally solid sets)
SPAC (only about 5 to 5 1/2 hours away with great sets and an awesome town as well)
If you are up for traveling:
Alpine
Gorge (If this is your last year to travel, I would highly recommend doing Gorge!!!) It is an awesome venue and 3 nights of DMB just can't be beat...
If all else fails:
Camden ( 2 night stand but close)

Dude your gonna be in college and you think that you wont have time to catch shows.
I did two shows a year before college, now im up to six this summer. If any thing itll get ya more time to see shows.

That is the key right there. Be ready in March for the tour announcment and have cash in hand to buy tickets.
One more word of advice, there are always tickets to be had. Don't buy from scalpers or people paying over face. Check the ticket exchange here and you should be set.
This is a good community and, for the most past, the people are cool and will help where they can. As long as you don't ask for to much, there should always be someone around to lend you a hand in some way.
