Love them or hate them, you have to admit, they are the hottest team in hockey right now. (since the trade deadline, at least...)
I like their chances in the playoffs if they keep playing this way.
Please discuss all of your likes/dislikes for Jagr, Hank, Shanny, Avery, etc...

I love the Rangers...but I don't want to jynx anything down the stretch haha. I just hope they get into the 6th seed. The way I see it:
Rangers vs. Buffalo = Buffalo sweeps in 4
Rangers vs. Devils = Devils win in 6
Rangers vs. Penguins = Rangers win in 6
Rangers vs. Atlanta = 7 games that could go either way
Rangers vs. Tampa Bay = Rangers in 5
Rangers lose every game for the rest of the season = F#$K

Hope you guys are enjoying Shanahan this season :thumbsup
He's def. one of my favorite players of all-time. he's a real class act and as tough as they come. I have many fond memories of his days in detroit and the cups he helped us win during the glory days (check signature). It was a sad day when the wings announced they wouldnt be signing him again but it was also something that just had to happen and I hope he's found a new beginning with you guys. Anyway, if the wings make an early exit this year which is very possible given recent history, I may find myself jumping on your bandwagon to support shanny.

Most people would say that one player can't make that much of a difference on a team...Avery is proving those people wrong right about now with his high energy play. He gets the team and the crowd fired up every night. IMO, he is exactly what the Blueshirts needed.

He really is. He's the catalyst and lifts everyone else around him.
I personally LOVE when Coach Renney starts the fourth line on the opening face-off. The crowd loves it, the other players get amped, and they play with so much passion and energy.

Let's hope they don't finish the season like they did last year. I think we can also get in if the Leafs beat the Isles tomorrow. Not 100% sure though. I don't know the tie-break situations currently, but I'm pretty sure we can't clinch because the Isle's have a game in hand. If they win out and the Lightning win out and we lose out, I think we're left out. Not positive though.

Ever since the new rules, all he has done is cry about how they are trying to take away from goalies and encourage scoring. The truth is, they are encouraging the refs to call the game the way it was designed to be called.
He is good though. I'll give you that, but I'd take a bullet for Richter before ever saying that I like Marty.

They are just encouraging a bunch of dip shits that can read a rule book but don't know what it takes to play the game. You can disagree with me but we'll go to some clown in Toronto watching the game on TV for the final say.

Marty Brodeur is as incredible as they come. He has already had a fantastic career and I am willing to bet he will add another Stanley Cup to the list of his achievements before it is all said and done. He is consistently among the best if not the very best goalie in the league year after year not to mention one of the top five best to play the position period. To say that Marty Brodeur is anything short of amazing is just ridiculous. He deserves to be mentioned among Roy, Plante, and Sawchuck.

Time to ride the diesel back of Lundqvist. I'm gonna be honest. Earlier in the season, I had my doubts and thought that he could have possibly just fluked last year, but the last three months have made me think the exact opposite.
I'm sure not too many other Ranger fans were thrilled when Lundqvist told Renney that he didn't feel comfortable between the pipes.
I'm really looking forward to this series and hockey in general for the next couple months. Hockey Playoffs just take it to a whole other level unlike other sports. It's like everything is just a step faster and every action is just more crucial.

Tommy, as long as the puck doesn't go in, it's ok :)
After a solid game 1 with great plays all around (and a few minor, excusable gaffes by Girardi), I'm looking forward to Game 2!!

I agree. (although, I got a bit of a chill at the last second when that puck went off the side of the net.)
Girardi was a little sloppy, but this was his first playoff game...as long as nothing cost us the game, I'm cool with it. :thumbsup
Starting Callahan was such a smart move...I'm liking the way this kid plays, and hustles more and more every game.

I am so happy the Rangers are up 2-0, and I think they have a chance to sweep....however, Atlanta was by far the better team yesterday, so I would not go so far to say its all but over...they (Atlanta) probably should have won yesterday, NY will have to play better in games 3 & 4 to wrap this up.

Rangers fans looking to fire themselves up for tonight's Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals against Atlanta can join in the second pregame Rangers Playoff Road Tour, taking place this afternoon in New York's Times Square.
The Playoff Road Tour kicked off in a big way prior to Game 3 on Tuesday, as a dozens of Rangers fans rode up to Times Square in special double-decker buses dressed up in Rangers blue.
The group assembled at 4:30 p.m. in front of Madison Square Garden on 7th Ave. and 31st St., where they met with Rangers fan Bobby Granger, alumni Ron Greschner and Nick Fotiu and several members of the Rangers organization.
As the buses moved along, fans atop the bus chanted "Let's Go Rangers," until they arrived at Times Square. Once there, they saw a miraculous tribute to the Rangers on all of the marquees that make Times Square one of the city's most popular attractions. The entire area was suddenly a shrine to the Blueshirts – and remained that way from 5 to 7 p.m.
As part of the tribute, Times Square's famous "Naked Cowboy" wore Rangers underwear and sang a song he dedicated to the team.
Road Tour staff members distributed free fan-appreciation posters and blue Rangers playoff towels to all fans participating in Tuesday's event. The fans returned to MSG at 6 p.m., and the Playoff Road Tour crew continued to hand out Rangers items to fans on their way into the game.
The whole experience was big lift for the fans who participated, and certainly showed the rest of the city how passionate the Garden Faithful are about their team.
A second round of the Playoff Road Tour is planned for today at 4:30, beginning in front of MSG on Seventh Ave and 31st Street. For more on Tuesday's event, and a preview of what will take place today, view the "Bobby Granger in Times Square" video on Rangers on Demand, which is linked below.

I don't think it is really a case of the Rangers not playing the same, It is more that Buffalo is playing like Buffalo for the first time in the Playoffs. I hope I am wrong and the Rangers turn it around, but my guess is that we should be happy we made it to round two, and this will probably be a short series in favor of Buffalo. Meh

I agree Buffalo played about as well as we sucked it up, but at Buffalo's height this season, that is their run in the first 2 months, we played them 4 times 3 of which didnt end in regulation, and 3 of which we played with weekes in goal. That was the hottest buffalo was all season and we gave them a run for our money, so if we do step up we can at least give them some trouble.

:confused dude(s), really? you're writing them off already? it's ONE GAME. have a little faith.
we can turn this series around with a good game tomorrow night. then it's back to the Garden, baby.

buffalo and atlanta are two very different teams. buffalo is quicker and has a much more potent offense. once they get rolling no team stands a chance against them

don't get me wrong. im not taking anything away from the sabres...i completely agree with your point, BUT i think we can take them down if we play to our potential.

You kind of sound like a fan that either does not watch a lot of hockey other than Rangers games, or has not been a Rangers fan for many years. I am not saying that to take shots at you or to put you down in any way. I am saying that because as someone who watches a lot of hockey I can tell you, the Rangers will probably not play to there full potential, and even if they did, all the Sabers have to do is play to their's. As a fan of hockey you have to be able to admit when another team is just flat out better, and the Sabers are. Don't get me wrong here, if the Sabers get lazy or have a few bad games and the Rangers find a way to steal those games, the Rangers could very well force 7 games or maybe even win. But the reason people are writing them off is because if both teams play the best they can....the Sabers are better. In a few years that may not be the case, but right now it is. All any of us can do is say...LETS GO RANGERS! and hope for the best haha.

not to laugh at you, but dude...i have played and watched hockey for pretty much my entire life...it is a passion of mine.
now, you dont know me, and thats why im not offended, but i like to think of myself as someone who practices positive thinking. Shit, I even defended a-rod to all the naysayers who trashed him last season...all i am saying is that this group of guys is one of the most talented rangers teams in recent memory, and i think writing them off after ONE loss is insane, no matter how good Buffalo may be (which they are excellent). I dont think anyone expected the rangers to go 16-0 in the playoffs this season.
we have to capitalize on EVERY mistake the Sabres make, and they don't make many, so that's all the more reason for us to step up our game.
Let's go Rangers.

Not to be pessimistic, but I don't feel that the Rangers CAN play to their "full potential" like they did against Atlanta because Buffalo is just in another league. Part of the reason that the Rangers were able to play so well against Atlanta was because they were the superior hockey team. Buffalo is certainly way above Atlanta, and you could see the Rangers had trouble keeping up. Just look at all those penalties in the early minutes.
That's not to say they can't win, but it's quite the uphill battle.

i thought atlanta was favored/picked to win that series. :confused
i believe the popular opinion was Thrashers in 6.
just goes to show.
now buffalo is a much better team, but no one should be writing the rangers off yet. if it's 3-0 buffalo, then i might say, ok, there's a good chance our season is over...but until that point, i know it sounds corny, but i believe in these guys. :)

I mean think what you want, but I am shocked that if you watch hockey as much as you say you do that you still think the Rangers are the better team. I love the Rangers more than any other sports team, but hell I know when we are out matched. I mean Lets go Rangers, but false hope is a sad thing and after being a Rangers fan for so long, I don't have any more false hope left over. Until they win the Cup they are never the better team IMO. I still say Sabers in 5. Oh and A-Rod is juicing...no question about it. Go Mets! and Sox!

i didnt say they were the better team -- just said i think we can pull off an upset on the favorite. look at the facts: second half of the season the sabres only won two more games than the rangers. i'll be the first one to admit when a team is excellent, and buffalo is an excellent team. i think our boys have a shot, is all im saying. i think the sabres are a very talented team, and they are certainly going to be the biggest challenge we face(d) all year, but not gonna bend on this one. i wont write them off till they're done. sorry hahaha...

...and you have to see these maniacs on the Rangers msg board -- already talking about who the rangers should trade and what not. lundqvist sucks, trade avery, shanny's washed up, etc...its really sad that one loss equals the demise of everyone's faith in their team that had a spectacular second half of the season and a phenomenal first round of the playoffs.

And I agree everyone's getting ahead of themselves, but the loss was extremely disheartening. Those back to back to back goals just made me cringe in pain.

Captain Canada, for the number of times he's led team Canada at the worlds. and yes, i'd love to see him back in Edmonton, but in a way I'd like to see him go to a team that's going to be a real contender in the next 1-2 years. IF there's one guy I want to see lift the cup, it's him.

Went better in game 2, but I knew going into the Third period that who ever scored the next goal would win. If Rangers went up 3-1 I think they would have held on, but when Buffalo scored I knew it was over and turned the Yankees/Sox game on. Rangers will have to win both games at home to even have a chance.
