Hey guys,
I've posted a few things that I was working on by myself quite a while ago. I have since put together a band, and we recently did some recordings for a local radio station... I wanted to see what you guys thought.
This is a link to our website: www.thetraveling.com (http://www.thetraveling.com)
The video is a solo cover, but the first two songs posted on the website (Find You Waiting, and Reaching Up) are among the songs we recently recorded. Everything else is pretty old.
Thank you guys for listening
Tyler

The songs aren't special. Didn't keep my attention for long. Work on your vocals.

The website is a good start, you should add at least a blurb about what part of the country youre in...a little more general info if you intend to make it a real informative site.
I thought the two new songs were ok, still have room for improvement obviously but it seems like theres been some good development from the older stuff. I found the intros to each song to be pretty cool actually, but it did lose my full focus later on. In the first song there are couple of spots where things seem to come apart a little, notably at the beginning of the phrases in the first verse. I didn't like the lead fills running throughout the chorus, but other than that I liked them. I probably would have played the solos in the 'jam' section near the end an octave up.
The guitar part in the second song gets tired for me.
I feel like its always a comment made... but the vocals sounded held back at times in both, and they were too quiet throughout the second song, I couldn't discern the lyrics. Youre voice has potential, open up a bit and work on not sliding up to notes.
Thats all I got, thanks for putting your stuff up. Keep up the good work and good luck!

Sorry man, but I listened to Find You Waiting & the vocals just killed it for me. I couldn't listen to the whole thing. Half of the words couldn't be understood & there was nothing interesting about the singing. The vocals are basically another instrument, don't focus on only the "actual" instruments & neglect any focus on the vocals b/c it'll turn people off if you don't fine tune the singing

Seriously, not that bad. Loads on here will be comparing you to professional singers because they may not be in a band themselves. The vocal melody is nice in the chorus, but it seems you just need more confidence. Sing wherever you go...do live performances all the time and you WILL improve. It's not awful at the moment at all, I can listen to it. The recording isn't that great because you've DI'd the guitar and it sounds pretty hideous to be honest...Also the vocals are clipping horendously and the drum isn't miked properly. The bass also needs a hellish amount of compression and EQ...and it's quite often out of time, so comign from a recording production point of view it's really quite poor. But if you look at the songwriting, it's quite a nice tune, with good accompaniment (perhaps the acoustic guitar chords are pretty basic but then again I'm crazy about jazz chords), and deserves more credit than people are making out. How long have you been playing for?

Yes the chords are just basic A form and E form chords. But, to me, that is the only way to pull off a good sounding half diminished chord. I didn't want it to be too abrasive. I tried the same part with some inverted chords, and it sounded a little forced.
We just recorded it ourselves, and we really don't know what we are doing as far as recording goes. I have been playing for awhile, but I've just been working on writing and singing for about a year. Our band has played 2 shows together, so we are very young, and I know that we need to improve. I'm planning on taking vocal lessons after school is out this summer. I do appreciate the input from everyone, even if it is harsh. I probably need to hear it.
