I posted this on DMBtabs.com too, but I figured I'd ask here.

I have a 2006 Martin D35, and am in talks with a guy with a 2004 Taylor 714ce.
The Martin doesn't have electronics, whereas the Taylor has the ES.
Both are in great condition. It would be a straight up trade.

The Martin sells for about $2100; the Taylor for $2749.
Those prices are based on Sam Ash online.
I know you can probably get them cheaper elsewhere.

Does this sound like a good trade? Who's getting a better deal? Equal?

Any advice would be great.

No, it's in WI. He doesn't get to play the Martin either.

Is it becuase you both live far apart? I wouldn't make a trade without handling the equipment first.

The 714ce used to be my favorite guitar, then i played the d 35 the other day and i'd definetly keep the d 35 unless you really dont like

I guess the smartest thing would be to just install a pickup on the D35, right?

Thanks for your advice. I think I'm gonna keep it (for now).
I got a great quote on a custom 614ce right from the factory.
I'll keep the Martin for recording. Maybe I'll sell it one day.
