I just started palying acoustic about two weeks ago. I took my first lesson already and my instructer said if their is any song that I wanted to learn, just tell him and he would tab it up and he could get me learning it right away.
anyway, I was thinking a dispatch tune. I would really like to learn "outloud", the acoustic version off of the cd "bang bang". what do you all think? is that song too tough. I was also thinking about learning, "hey, hey" off of "silent steeples", any opinions. I am also considering sublime's version of "guava jelly" I really like the sound of that song, is that tough?
I am leaning towards "outlod" currently, it could change.

Bang Bang is simple. Very slick riff too. One of my favorites.
Two coins is fun and not too hard. Out Loud is the easiest I can think of by them, off the top of my head. Elias is alright and Walk With You is extremely easy and fun.

The General and Cover This were two of my firsts. I don't remember the guitar part in hey hey, I have been looking for my copy of silent steeples today to no avail : (

It depends on your experience. I know that you said you just started playing acoustic two weeks ago, but does that mean that you just started playing any type of guitar two weeks ago?
The hardest part of learning guitar for me when I was first starting out was chord changes, along with not strumming all six strings at once without muting.
If you can get some people together, Here We Go off Bang Bang is wicked easy and really a lot of fun to play with other people. If you're just playing by yourself, I'd recommend The General, although it has a lot of barre chords, and I'm not familiar with your level of experience.

well I brought my copy of bang bang in for my teacher to listen to, and I told him I wanted to play "Outloud", he was able to pick it up in about two minutes. He told me that it is pretty simple to play, so next week he is gonna start teaching me that song, pretty sweet.

hey hey is very easy, as well. A, B, C#m, and E are the only chords, as i recall.
out loud is probably the easiest and if it's the one you're leaning towards, go for it.

My Favourites to play are the general, flying horses and hey, hey. Good starting points though would be Two Coins and Out Loud I'd say.

I don't think Dispatch had many tough tunes, though I think they are a great band to learn on for that very same reason. I mean they have some riffs that are a little more complicated, ie The General intro, Open Up Jam, etc. But not too bad. When I got into Dispatch the first few I learned were Bang Bang, Two Coins, Carry You, Mayday, Hey Hey etc. and moved onto Flying Horses (that intro can be kinda tough, a lot of movement - but good practice), The General, etc.
Good luck :thumbsup

One of the first songs I ever learned to play period was Two Coins. I also learned Hey, Hey, but it has some quick chord changes in certain parts of it that could be tough ("you don't seem like you care")...throughout most of the song though it should be easy. Also the intro to Flying Horses should be relatively easy along with the verses/chorus.
