Does anyone know the best way to go about buying an old electric guitar from a store or private seller that I can refurbish. I've tried looking on craigslist and ebay but I'm having trouble with what words to use in the search. I want something that maybe doesn't work, or that is just too beat up to sell. Vintage or just cool looking.

Maybe a junk store would be the best place to start? I live in the DC area, there has to be someplace within a hundred mile radius that has what I'm looking for, I just can't seem to find it.

Any insight you have would be helpful. I just would love to be playing some beat up guitar that looks weathered with refurbished parts I put in it. Thanks!

pawn shops, garage sales, friends...umm...you can find cheap guitars on ebay but they usually aren't beat up because people figure you can't sell a beat up guitar on ebay i guess. Look around, you'll find it...just make sure the body is made out of good wood and with some work you can fix it up to be a real nice guitar.
