With the start of the season under two months, The Olympic Qualifiers over and the FIBA Championships well under way, I figured what better time then now to start getting excited.

So, who ya got?

I'm going with Boston in the East and San Antonio in the West.

e: for FUCK SAKES. That's two years in a row the B and the A didn't get capitalized. FUCK.

If Nelson walks there's a huge sigh of relief. The Warriors have to be banking on Marco to be a very solid contributer from Day 1. If not, the J-Rich trade makes zero sense. Wright is a nice fit for the offense, but is two years away from contributing.

Bulls to win out this year?

Deng should be an All-Star. The guy is a beast.

You are definitely crazy. I'd take the Pistons, Cavs, Celts, and Bulls easily over the old old Heat. Yeah, I realize D Wade was banged up and not nearly to his max effectiveness....but then neither were the refs for him. ;)

Either way, Hinrich always plays him well (4 to 0 sweep last year), and Shaq is just too old. Antoine Walker is fat and in his 50's as well.

I'll go with Boston in the EAST and Dallas in the WEST. I'll take Dallas to win it all.

San Antonio is yet to repeat so I don't think they will start here. I hope Phoenix can get to the Finals, and they can if they don't meet San Antonio. The Suns don't seem to match up well with them, but they can play Dallas tough. On the other hand, I do believe Dallas can beat San Antonio and I still think had Dallas gotten out of the first round last year that they would've beaten the Spurs.

I love LeBron, but keep Cleveland out of the Finals. Mike Brown's style of play is brutal to watch. Boston's star power should put them over the top. I do worry that they need better role players.

If Kobe goes to Chicago then they could get by Boston. I worry about the lack of a superstar w/ Chicago (every NBA to win a championship has had one except when Detroit beat LA a few years ago).

I live in Memphis so I root for the Grizzlies. They will have a chance to make the playoffs in the WEST. There are a lot of teams that won't be very good this year (Seattle, Portland, Sacramento, Minnesota, LA Clippers). The Clippers will be bad b/c of the injury to Brand. Minnesota is young, Sacramento didn't do anything to get better, Seattle is too young, and Portland lost Oden and traded Randolph. The Grizz get Kyle Lowry back, who missed all but 10 games last year and Mike Conley should come off the bench and give good minutes. Juan Carlos Navarro can shoot the hell out of the ball. Rudy Gay has looked more confident and Gasol should be Gasol. The have a chance to make the playoffs now and I'd put them in the playoffs if Baron Davis gets hurt or Chris Paul gets hurt again or whenever Kobe is traded.

A trade of Kobe to Atlanta for Law, Horford, and Joe Johnson would make me watch the Lakers again.

Of course I can never root diehardedly for the Lakers ever again now that I've left the fanbase (or any NBA team for that matter). But to follow two of my favorite college guys would be bliss (not to mention Luke Walton and Lamar Odom).

Kobe would never go there willingly. he wants to go to a team that has the chance to win. ..and sending those guys to LA would make that pretty impossible for the Hawks to be any good.

Yeah, I think most Pistons fans are bitter cause we offered the guy a ton of money, just not a max deal. I think we'd mostly like him on our team, but he kinda said fuck you to us for a few million more. Said he was disrespected, well, what about when we gave you that 30 million dollar contract when no one knew who you were?

He's the kind of guy that has to have a chip on his shoulder that he doesn't belong to play well. Now that he's got the recognition, and got paid, his hustle plays are going to go away, and without those he's worthless, he didn't get to where he is on basketball skill.

I went to the Bobcats game last night and I just have to say the officiating was atrocious. It is really unfortunate but all I thought was the refs had money on the game. I really lost a lot of respect for the Suns b/c of all their flopping around (like 5 Shane Battier's) but what was really sad is that the refs totally bought into it. Officiating in the NBA has become a joke and is a plauge to the league right now. It's pretty bad when refs control and dictate everything in a sport. No wonder that one ref was betting. It's almost too easy. The NFL gets rid of their terrible officials whereas the NBA does nothing. Sorry about the rant but I'm just fed up.

P.S. If I ever see Raja Bell on the street, I'm stabbing him in the neck. That guy is the biggest p.o.s. I hope Kobe beats the piss out of him.

No, that was 3 years ago. They turned it around and lost to the Wiz in the first round that year. The next year they were 29 and 41 and went 12 and 0 to finish the season and sneak into the playoffs but lost to the later Champion Heat in 6. Last year they had an up and down season but were never too up or too down, swept the pesky Heat only to lose to the Pistons in the 2nd round.

Actually I do think it would have made a difference in the game, not the outcome per se but definitely in the way it was played. It is just discouraging to sit and watch a game when it is being called unfairly. And I'm not just being a homer here, it was called unfairly.

I agree with you somewhat about flopping. A lot of players do it and what pisses me off is that they get the calls which leads to more flopping and so on and so on. It's just a joke.

From what I saw, the whole Felton thing was a complete accident. The fact is that Felton goes 100 mph with his head down when he drives to the hole or makes moves. Stuff like that happens. I think that maybe everyone was just frustrated with the rest of the game so maybe they thought it was intentional. I wouldn't consider Nash to be a dirty player at all.

That streak makes me smile but I still can't fathom why/how my Mavs lost to this shitty of a team in the finals. And speaking of, the Mavs play Golden State (0-4) tonight in CA. Should be a crazy game considering the Mavs are 2-9 over their last 11 against GS. Can't say that I'm not nervous since they always seems to have our number.

There was no defense in this game for the most part. Each team just hoped the other missed a few shots, which is what it came down to.

For whatever reason, the Warriors have our number and consistently go nuts against us. Last night was far to close for me, keeping in mind they had no Stephan Jackson or Jason Richardson last night and it was still only a 5 point game. :freak

Which applies to most of the NBA nowadays.

Of course, but then that wasn't what the Lakers wanted. They also wanted Tyrus, who looks better and better each game. They also wanted Noah (take him, I fucking HATE the bum), and a possible pick as well.

The Bulls would be giving up too much in Kobe's opinion, so he wouldn't let the deal go through even if Paxson wanted to. Paxson's hands are tied even if he wanted to sell the house.

he's killing so far tonight. 17 points in the first half. he's not doing too bad this year. he's managing to keep up with their pace. we're only 8 games into the season, though.

i really think if he is healthy he can still play...

i really think if he is healthy he can still play...

Definitely. Physically he is obviously nowhere near where he was. But he has always had top-notch skills and great bball IQ - he still has those.

Too bad we will never know how great he could have been if he had just been able to stay healthy.

"A couple Knick players and at least one staff member get the distinct impression Isiah Thomas wants to be fired and is going to extremes (I offer for evidence the bizarrely stained, even for Isiah, Stephon Marbury (http://fannation.com/tags/show_tag/4144) misadventure) to give James Dolan no other choice."

........Ummmmm, wonder if Isiah thinks he will ever get another NBA job?

At least in a coaching, GM capacity.

He is at best a failure at everything he has ever done in basketball - excluding being a player.

i think horford should have to sit for as long as ford. if ford's career is over than so is his.

but yes i feel very bad for ford, that was a nasty foul and he went down hard. at this point basketball doesn't matter, i just hope he's ok

20-2 with a 14.2 point differential should be enough evidence to say that they are not overrated. Guess not?:confused Based on facts, who would you rate as being better than the Celtics? If noone, then it is impossible for you to think they are overrated.

overrated might have been too strong...untested is probably a better description....those number dont mean much when you're crushing the bobcat, pacers, nets, and hawks.

They are untested based on a full year's schedule, but the season is more than a quarter gone. They have played and beaten badly some solid teams with an ailing Ray Allen. 22 games at the highest level of competition is anything but easy.

The Pistons coming up tomorrow. Should be a good one.
