I just bought a Casio 3300 keyboard, and I want to get it hooked up to my PC so I can record with it. It has a slot for USB in the back, but there doesnt seem to be a MIDI type connection. The keyboard says it has "General MIDI" capabilities.

My interface (M-audio USB interface) has the 7 pin MIDI ports in the back.

Is there anyway to connect my keyboard to the MIDI connection or the standard connection in the front (that being guitar and mic)?

Thanks a lot!

Do you want to use it as a input device, ie to 'play' your composition into an application like Sibelius, Finale etc? Or do you want to record the actual sounds coming from the keyboard into a program like Audacity or Adobe Audition? If you just want the latter, running the standard 'guitar style' 6.5mm jacks into the inputs on the front of the M-audio box should do the trick.

It seems like this keyboard isn't a bleeding-edge high end unit, which explains the absence of MIDI ouputs. Though I would assume that the USB connection has some sort of MIDI controller interface in it, given it has onboard general MIDI support. In which case you could eliminate the interface unit altogether in terms of connecting the keyboard.

My suggestion would be to hook it up by USB and try it out, with the correct settings to use it as an input with whatever software you are using.
