Looking to pick up a Strat (probably mexican). I played a regular one at GC the other day and one of the HSSmodels or whatever with the humbucker. The humbucker one seemed to have way more balls. My tone goals are to be able to get some Stevie Ray Vaughan type sounds, but also some David Gilmour/Floyd type tones. If I recall corrently neither of those guys use humbuckers..... do you think the standard strat will be as versatile for what im looking for as the humbucker model?

2nd: Amp choices?? -$400ish I played through a fender blues jr tube amp the other night. I like the humbucker model through it. I was thinking more like a VOX30 with some modeling capabilities to play with.

give me some direction... thanks in advance

get a standard mexican and put noiseless pickups in it, then get the blues Jr.

you will be rocking with that shit.

they are if you dont want noise... hahah. vintage noiseless (probably fender best single coil pickups) will run you 150.

or you could buy a mexican deluxe strat which already has them in it for 600 i think.

you buy a standard mexican plus 150 thats 550 and you will have to pay to have them done right, unless you are brave enough to attempt said transplant yourself.

anyway, thats what i would do if i was going the strat route, personally im turning my Epi Les Paul into a monster upgrading pickups and hardware.

i also have Fender Tube amp, really good shit.
