I wrote a new song today and recorded it. I wrote it for someone who had a crappy day yesterday so I don't really expect anyone else to understand it, but if you want to hear a really great recording check it out. Basically this recording is a representation of what you get when you get a great piece of vintage hardware and run the best mics in the world through it. This is a 2 track recording, the guitar was recorded with a Neumann KM-184 and the vocals were recorded with a Neumann TLM-49. Both of these mics are about as good as you get in terms of vocal and guitar mics. Both of these mics were then run though a Universal Audio 610 tube preamp and 1176LN compressor. I racked up the level and gain on the preamp so pretty much everything you hear level wise is comming from it. The compressor is very light. You can hear some noise because the level is so high on the UA unit, but in my opinion it is by no means a bad thing, it gives the recording some air. It is most noticable when the vocals come in and out, but I can live with it. It really dosn't get much better then this if you want a nice vintage twist to your recording....
