Okay, so I'm in.

Problem: At the moment, the staff hasn't given out all the invites apparently (which is also kinda noticeable since they're inviting select people on IRC). My invites page currently reads, "You have 2 invite(s) remaining."

In all fairness, I think the best way to handle this is give out invites in the order I received PMs/emails. I'll have to take a look at both and come up with a list. When I finish, I'll post it here and the top two will have received invites. As soon as I get more invites, I'll pass them out down the line. :)

EDIT: But first, I'm going to finish uploading a few torrents...

You were the kind soul who invited me :) As far as I know, we're all unfortunately starting over from scratch. I've been uploading over 100 torrents since 5AM this morning :shrug

Trent: I'll admit I had an account there and frequented it quite often. At the end of the day, what made OiNK a great place was that it was like the world's greatest record store. Pretty much anything you could ever imagine, it was there, and it was there in the format you wanted. If OiNK cost anything, I would certainly have paid, but there isn't the equivalent of that in the retail space right now. iTunes kind of feels like Sam Goody to me. I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc. Amazon has potential, but none of them get around the issue of pre-release leaks. And that's what's such a difficult puzzle at the moment. If your favorite band in the world has a leaked record out, do you listen to it or do you not listen to it? People on those boards, they're grateful for the person that uploaded it — they're the hero. They're not stealing it because they're going to make money off of it; they're stealing it because they love the band. I'm not saying that I think OiNK is morally correct, but I do know that it existed because it filled a void of what people want.

We're supposed to get 1 extra invite per 1GB uploaded, but I dunno if that's as you reach every 1GB mark ('cause I didn't get one after uploading over 1GB) or if it's at a later date, we'll get a lump sum of invites.

I had a thought today though: Of the two people I invited so far, would you guys want to invite the next 4 people down the list? Then those 4 can invite the rest of the people & everyone will be on within a day or so...

That idea sounds nice to me, but I don't know if you guys would be up for it...

It's hard to find anything on Limewire. I can't even get Limewire to open up for me. It freezes everytime. I've tried reinstalling it and I have the latest version, but nothing works.

I have a what.cd invite and I will send it to the person who asked for it above. It sucks however right now what.cd is having the same issues as waffles.fm, that so many users are trying to join and upload all at once the site is crazy slow and wont even load 1/2 the time. What.CD is also getting a new server and said things should be fast again in a few days.

I am however more excited about waffles.fm because it didnt seem like what.cd had too much on it(right now anyways) and i perfer the waffles layout much more.

Anyways I looked forward to my invite and I will send out what.cd ones as soon as I can get on.

I got into waffles today. No invites yet. Apparently we get 3 soon. I am going to give one to my roomate as he and I joined at the same time 2 years ago and I am going to give my other two probably to DMBtheStoned and ExistenceNow (mainly because I recognize them from this site, and were vocal members in the old OINK thread as far as helping people out).

They can do whatever with their invites, but thats my gameplan.
However, I want it to be known that this is probably the last time I am going to invite anybody from this site. I stopped doing this with OINK because of the number of liars I would invite, bomb, and then come back to the oink thread asking for another. People on ants are selfish and many are liars.

Thats why after these three invites if you want one from me, PM me. And I will give you one if ONLY if you are worthwhile poster on this site. NOt somebody who has lied or cheated in the past, only has 100 posts (50% in the Oink thread), or I have never seen before. This time I am being extremely low key about anything revolving around this site.

I've said this once before, but I sorta learned a lesson from my OInk scare and am only going to use this site for only downloading rare stuff and the occaisional CD I cannot afford. In order to stay low key I will not be upping any releases or inviting 1000s of people. I hope this does not offend anybody but this is how I feel.

I think what I said came off wrong. By me saying I wanted "all of us" to be able to get onto Waffles, I meant "us" as in those who were on Oink or is worthy of being on Waffles. Clearly uploading comes first, I just think people who we KNOW (not people who just say they had whatever a ratio) can maintain good ratios and held spread more music should be given a chance to get one there, NOT those who are spamming the thread asking for invites.

I think pkrfan417 was on the right track by making people prove their stats on oink and other sites. im sure that took some time for him but it is the only fair way and it is much appreciated. I doubt these people that are just putting their emails in are really expecting to get an invite, i know i wouldnt. but i cant blame them for trying.

and to benco, 18 gigs already your a uploadin fool. did you just hop on other popular torrents or are people hoppin on your posts? either way thats pretty impressive for the amount of time youve been on.

Here is my work at proof of my good member status of filesharing. I didn't have any screenshots of my ratio on OiNK but I remember it was around a 1.05 I believe.

Added my email to the list under PU's...I realize invites are in short supply now (or completely ceased) so no pressure. I have no way of proving I was a PU on oink and I realize that internet "word" is not enough, but hoping maybe in this instance it will be...but whether or not you believe me, I was a PU at oink and was invited by a user here with "stone" in the username somewhere!

Not going to try and hype up that I had a great ratio on Oink, more of a time thing than anything else (just got signed up a few weeks ago). I have just over 1.00 ratio on dreamingtree.org and keep my torrents open at all times. I have probably 30 torrents or so that I did not delete while everyone was freaking out after Oinks demise. I would gladly up them to any torrent site that is available for someone to give an invite out to. I would even gladly take some of the not to popular ones to start with and prove myself through. Figure I could have sat here and lied about how great of a seeder I am, but honestly, I really don't have much experience to brag about. Just hoping to keep spreading some music.
