View Full Version : Mike Gundy, Eat Your Words

I can't believe everyone has overlooked this.

Bobby Reid, made infamous by OSU coach Mike Gundy's rant that said he "does everything right" was suspended for last Saturday's game because he skipped two practices.

Hmm, I already thought Jenni Carlson probably was on to something (even though she was out of line), but now it sure looks like she may have nailed it.

Still doesn't make the article right...

It was in poor taste, nothing will change that fact.

It was in poor taste, nothing will change that fact.Maybe so, but it looks like her accusations were actually probably based in fact. So it looks like she was likely correct, even though it was poorly written.

Do you not see the point here though... Gundy defended Reid because "he does everything right" and even said to go after the ones that don't.

Gundy does not need to eat his words. Everything that was said about Carlson and the rag she works for is correct. The matter was handled and now it's back to business gearing up for Texas on the 3rd.

But reporters should not be making accusations that are probably based on facts. That article does absolutely nothing to show Reid had problems before last week. Gundy's statement that Reid "does everything right" may have been true before last week. They may not have, but we don't know.

That's all you're going to say? Gundy went on a 3 minute, personal attack on a sports writer defending a kid that supposedly is a model citizen. Then he skips two practices, is suspended for a game. You don't see the hypocrisy here?

That's the thing here. No one, but Mike Gundy and Bobby Reid know what the issues are. You cannot print accusations and present them as facts. When the press has the facts, and I mean quotes from Gundy and Reid, then the situation will have a new focus.

He's a kid. He makes mistakes. Let the coach handle them not the media.

You don't see the hypocrisy here? What hypocrisy is proven by this article? Perhaps the kid has never done anything wrong before. Perhaps this is the first time he's missed practice. What makes you so sure this is a big deal?

Sweet, I find this funny. I know Jenni Carlson personally and have always really liked and respected her and even though I don't think her article was totally fine, Gundy's response wasn't entirely fine either (railing on her for not having kids). It's a mess but this is mildly entertaining to me.

Kinda makes me wish I was still on speaking terms with my ex, who works for the team and never cared much for Reid.

I can't believe you guys don't see the irony in this. It's kind of like Rafael Palmeiro saying he never did steroids. But then he tested positive. We dont' KNOW that he was doing them or had done them before he tested postive, but it kind of made you think...

Alright, maybe I should have just said irony. I can laugh at irony. It just feels like you're personally attacking Gundy for defending a player, who for all we know was a class act. I mean, isn't that what a coach is supposed to do? Protect his players?

:thumbsup

Gundy did the right thing in September.

And the kid had personal issues. It doesn't sound like he was out shooting up or banging hookers...

Protect his players? How am I personally attacking Gundy? I'm saying that the kid he defended so vehemently went and did something to make him eat his words.

I think everyone had such a love-fest over Gundy in September that now they can't see how this makes him and Bobby Reid look really bad.

But it does further Royce's obsession with everything to come out of Stillwater.:D

That first paragraph epitomizes everything wrong with the article and any defense of it I have yet to hear. "Maybe, looks like, actually probably, likely" much like Ms. Carlson and her credible sources. "rumors and the rumblings", "stories told on the sly", etc. My personal favorite

"Does he have the fire in his belly? Or does he want to be coddled, babied, perhaps even fed chicken?" wtf is that, sounds like something posted on a message board, not published in a metropolitan newspaper.

Not to mention she is a beaker...
