Looks like O'Connell is gonna be no #3. According to reports from camp Andrew Walter is doing better than O'Connell. We have Brian Hoyer from Mich State too, but lets hope it doesn't come down to that. I think we are that good, we should have a nice shot at the SB.

You are right about that. They should have just kept him at the franchise price and let him run the offense for a season first. He won't have a Randy Moss or a Wes Welker to throw to in KC.

I have no proof of this, but I think QBs who play for dominant college teams have a harder time making it in the NFL than a guy who plays on a team with less talent. Palmer played at USC when they were just starting this upswing

I think there's some validity to that.
I mean look at Cutler, Big Ben, Eli, Flacco, Ryan....
None of them played on what you would call dominant teams, and each are having success so far.

I think his best attribute is his vision, and when your offensive line rarely creates any holes that is worthless. He's not fast enough to get the edge and run away from people consistently, he's not big enough to move the pile consistently, and he's not good enough at blocking or catching to be used in sub packages.
I hated the pick when we made it, but hopefully the light will go on for him like it seems to for every other Steeler in their second year. Polamalu and Timmons were being written off, and now they're both considered stars.

Forte does bring more to the table, his biggest strength is his carrying ability. He had a fumble last year (Actually, he didn't, but Lovie opted to not challenge the play) but that was it. I've never seen a rookie RB look THAT professional, like he did. He's also set up to be a long time back, as he both possesses hard, strength running ability, with great speed. He's not as fast as Johnson or Slaton, but he is still very fast with great agility.
Oh, fuck the Pats.

Randy has really grown up in the past few seasons. He has kept his mouth shut and produced on the field. He was really unhappy in Oakland, who wouldn't be? The fans are defensive, but that is a whole different conversation. Who else bothers you? Rodney is gone, so don't say him. Most of our guys don't say anything to the media. People say Tommy is a deadbeat dad, but in fact he is quite the opposite. The whole spygate thing was blown way out of proportion by ESPN. But I do see your point, now that I think about it, I am not jealous of the Steelers even though they won this year.
Being in Pittsburgh, I spend a lot of time being defensive, and I try not to bash the steelers, we have a great rivalry here.

Hey, do you need a fellow Pats fan to go to the game with you? :D

I get rubbed the wrong way by the players, and Bill himself.
I hold players to the Payton standard. He was on A LOT of REALLY BAD Bears teams, but always carried himself like a gentleman. Randy's time in Oakland (And me living in Cali at the time, as I do now after leaving a few years ago) was very disheartening. You don't bring him up around here (I live around even MORE Raider fans now) they dislike him that much.

Very true. Sadly that's not the case nearly as much as it should be. I always had nothing but respect and admiration for WP.

Do you forget the epic ass beating laid down in Foxboro last year? I think the Steelers scored 21 points in 2 minutes and just kicked the shit out of the Pats.
We beat ourselves last year, when you turn the ball over you deserve to lose. Randy dropped the same play 3 times in the back of the end zone right before the half. When was the last time you beat us before that? The Patriots won 6 of 7 meetings over a ten year period (1998-2007). It was on Halloween, maybe 2003, not sure I would have to look that up. Hope to see you guys in a good game in January.

Oakland was/is mainly a running team. Uhhhh you think Jamarcus Russell is throwing anything further than 10 yards? Oh, okay. That's about as good a statement as Culpeper being a good QB.
McNabb has had MANY injuries and is still considered a decent QB. Culpeper couldn't get a job as Kansas City's backup.

Really? Because in 2004, Culpepper's best season, he completed 69.2% of his passes for 4717 yards, 39 TDs, and only 11 INTs, while Moss had his 2nd worst season as a pro, catching just 49 passes for 767 yards.
Culpepper was an excellent QB who had his career derailed by injuries that robbed him of his greatest strength - his athleticism.

You can seriously take any WR and say that they are only good because they are on a team with a good QB. Put Moss on, say, the vikings now if TJ is the QB and he's running to the endzone without anything coming to him. Ummm....no. Moss did not play for Oakland in 2004, he was still on the Vikings.
Randy Moss is only good when he has a good team around him because he is a lazy primadonna. When he's on a team with talent, he tries. When he's on a bad team, he whines, pouts, and puts forth zero effort.
T.O. can succed with a medicore QB because his skill set is so much more varied than Moss. He's an excellent route runner who can create separation from defenders in a very small window. Moss simply runs fades and outjumps people for balls. He's not the complete package that T.O. is.

Moss spent a lot of time "injured" in Oakland, now whether or not he just didn't want to play or was being a pussy or whatever has nothing to do with it. He didn't even play much. If you watch Randy now, you will see that he throws blocks (weak ones, but the effort is there) and finishes his routes etc. He is a different guy in NE than he was before. The problem with Moss is that people always project his skills into the perfect situation for those skills. The #1 myth in football is the WRs stretch the field. If the QB cannot get him the ball deep that eliminates the 9 route and the 0, and you are left with a guy who is only effective in the Red Zone, which is not a place you visit often when your team sucks,
The best players in the NFL contribute every down and in every situation.

You have a good point, he isn't much of a possession receiver, but you know the deep threat is always there. Wes Welker isn't much of a deep threat, he is our guy to pick up the 1st down. Different guys for different situations.
Moss will be more effective this year in other situations too. He also makes such a good decoy, its gonna leave either Welker or Galloway open.

That is not what I am saying. I'm saying if you have an average line and an average QB, Moss is not doing your team much good on a 4th and 7 you have to convert to have a chance at winning. The threat that Moss brings to the table only matters if your QB stays upright and can deliver a ball 40 yards down the field accurately.

fitz is the best in football
I'm not 100% sure I agee with this. Though I will say without a doubt Fitz is 1 or 2. The run Fitz went on in the playoffs was amazing, but before the playoff run if you asked me who the best WR in football was? I'd tell you Andre Johnson, and he doesn't have Boldin lining up on the other side. Even if Fitz is #1 in the NFL. I'm not sure it's as clear cut a lot assume.
Unless you have a team like the Patriots or the Minnesota teams he played for he is not going to help you the way a true # 1 guy can.
I wish we could replay last year with Moss on the Lions. It be interesting to see if he could have the impact Calvin Johnson had.

People are naive when they think that the Patriots were alone in what they were doing....That is a whole other discussion though, and obivously there is no PROOF of anything, but I think you'd have to be blind to not think other teams were doing what they did.

Can you please show me where I said we are number one every year? I said look up at the standings, meaning we tend to finish at the top of our division year in, year out.
And to say the Patriots have been irrelevant just shows some serious ignorance on your part, no offense man.
And to the bolded part......what? You act as though the Patriots aren't many people's superbowl pick EVERY SINGLE YEAR. We may not win if every year, but we are nearly always in the running for it. As a fan, you can't ask for much more than that.
But yeah, I never said they were the best team every year. That was made up on your end in order to strengthen your side of the argument.

You are so right about people being naive. Nobody seems to understand about the actual rule either. Teams are allowed to tape opponents signals. They are only allowed to tape from areas with walls. See Page 105 of the 2007 NFL Game Operations Manual states, "No video recording devices of any kind are permitted to be in use in the coaches' booth, on the field, or in the locker room during the game...All video shooting locations must be enclosed on all sides with a roof overhead." So all they really did was tape from an illegal area. The media likes to blow things out of proportion and make us the villain all the time. It is "us vs. the world."
Remember in 2007 when we caught a Jets employee watching a closed practice with a telescope at Gillette? We didn't run to Goddell like rats. All we did was throw the dude out.
In 2006 the Dolphins purchased a tape of Tommy's audibles. They killed us 21-0. The Dolphins held the Patriots to 12 first downs and 189 yards and held Brady to 78 passing yards and a passer rating of 55.1 while sacking him four times. He never looked so confused. They knew every play he was gonna run. did we run and cry? No.
Is any of this considered "cheating?"
Only if it is done by the Patriots.
I am so fucking sick of people running their mouths about something that they don't even know anything about.
Lastly, I sadly pay taxes here in the state of Pennsylvania. Arlen Specter is just bitter about his eagles losing to us in the SB. There are about a million other problems that the government should be handling besides BB breaking a rule in the NFL. The guy is a crazy senile asshole.

BSPN never acknowledged anything about the actual rule and gave a totally biased opinion. Yeah, we got caught breaking a rule. We got punished and have a better record post-spygate than previously. People need to get over this. It is called spygate because that is what BSPN chose to call it. What about all the guys who get caught using steroids?
