View Full Version : Question about Seeding/Ratios/Uploads

Hello, all........brand new to the site. Also, brand new to attempting to download, etc.

Actually, I successfully downloaded one show.

But, I understand that I should also try to maintain a Ratio of 1:1 in DL vs UL.

I guess my question is this: I keep uTorrent open, but, I have only seen a limited amount of action as far as people for which I am uploading.

Is there something more I need to do to improve my Ratio? I am not familiar with Ports, etc. that I have seen mentioned. I honestly don't know how to check and see if they are open or not. I downloaded relatively quickly, but, I notice when I am Uploading, it is quite slow.

Any advice will be helpful! Thanks in advance for helping someone ignorant of the process!!

um... I care about it. And you should too. Because that's how you can get shows. Without people keeping their torrents open, then all the shows go bye bye.

This is a question I have as well. I've downloaded some shows since joining last week, and I've kept my torrent program running the entire time (except when performing some system maintenance on my machine) - yet my ratios still suck. I've even tried downloading some of the new more "popular" shows so that I can leave them open for seeding, but it's not getting any better. Is there something I'm missing?

It can be tough for a lot of people whose upload speed is capped much lower than their download speed. This restriction is set by your internet service provider, and it sucks. You just have to be patient and let it run for a while after you finish downloading. If nobody had a ratio that was greater than 1:1, then nobody would have the entire show.

How do we view our downloaded amount, uploaded amount, and ratio now? I used to be able to find it before the site upgrade but now I don't see it....

Ditto. My client is showing nearly 2:1 but I just wanted to do my due diligence and make sure whatever tracker we're using is catching it. My client always says not connected so I don't know if it's being updated and the address is the only one I found. Just wanted to make sure things were going ok before I started to pull some other shows down.
