I'm close to positive it will. Even if the band doesn't want it. The fans will force it to be on there.

And yes on the SU forum:D

Yes, I do think so.
And vote on your own poll man! I'm the only one!

I hope so, and I also think it will.

It could become even better, or worse, though so we'll see

Yes.
And I hope to see it as the last song, then silence (BTCS style) and then reprise (LeRoi, Rashawn and Carter 2006 Summer Tour style).

And yes on the SU forum:DAbout damn time. I was calling for this thing in 2006. Remember, when it was going to come out in May 2007? :rolleyes :lol

As for Shotgun: yes. It's probably the only song I'd put 100% odds on, maybe IOU as well.

shotgun and IOY have the best chance (at least from what we've seen in terms of tours and lyrics in the past 2 years)

Obviously I'm not as informed as you may be on this, but couldn't you say Cornbread is pretty much 100% as well? If I'm not mistaken it was played at every show last year.

If I'm not mistaken it was played at every show last year.Sugar Will, Crazy Easy, & Joyride were all played nearly every night in 2004 (I believe they all missed 2 or more shows), and they didn't make the official US release, so that kind of removes me from saying it's a lock. But it was played around with in the studio this November, so I'll go with 98% :lol

Any of the 04 songs being rumored Brendan?

I mean I know that Dave was teasing SW at the end of the tour. If those songs can make the album, Jesus.

Imagine if we get fucked with this album like we did with Stand Up. Leading in with talk of a few locked in, decent songs (cornbread, every night, like Joyride, CE, and Sugar Will) -- along with the potential of some really really great songs (Shotgun). Then we get all new material that blows and wasn't road tested at all.

God, I'd love to hear a leak of the recent studio stuff.

we didn't put it up then b/c we knew the album wasn't coming out last year :D

As for this year, I still don't think it's coming out, but maybe when the uppers see this they'll pass on the word that those boys better get off their bums and do some work.

Any of the 04 songs being rumored Brendan?

I mean I know that Dave was teasing SW at the end of the tour. If those songs can make the album, Jesus.Well, it's no secret that Sugar Will was Dave's favorite song from both the 2004 tour and the Stand Up sessions. So it's not like the reason it didn't make the album was because they didn't like it. They just didn't think it "fit", I believe was their answer. And obviously it was in their mind at the end of the tour. I heard rumors from 2nd hand sources that they toyed with them before IZOD, but I can't confirm that, as it wasn't from someone who I've talked to in the past.

Now, Crazy Easy. There's people on this board that I've PMed throughout 2007 with info going both ways, so they already know this story. But I think we're removed enough from the 2007 tour to post this. Before Hartford N2, the band held a practice at an off-site location. They played 4 songs. Full band Eh Hee, Sweet Up and Down, Fool to Think, and Crazy Easy. Three of those came out in the tour (SUAD came out 2 days after this practice), so the few of us who had heard the setlist from the practice were awaiting C/E's return, but it obviously never happened. Even davehead, a guy who definitely knows his stuff when it comes to subjects like this, also said C/E was slated to come back.

I have a gut feeling that SW will be back, but if everything that I had been told is true, C/E certainly isn't dead.

thats some pretty cool news. hope it actually is true. ive been listening to the shows i went to in 2004, and i dont think i gave them enough credit in the past. they are strong shows, and i think those sopngs were pretty close to old school DMB. especially sugar wills riff.

I should point out the actual course of that information though, just so it doesn't seem too good to be true. We were told of the first three songs the day of that practice, and then about a week and a half later, were told "oh yeah, C/E was played as well." I originally thought that was shady, but when combined with what davehead said, that it was "slated to come back", I kind of think that C/E was initially withheld for a reason, and then when it looked like it might come back, we were told.

I mean, it's all speculation, but god, I really hope it's all true.

I would love Crazy Easy, Sugar Will, Shotgun, Loving Wings, and a developed #27 on the album.

Do you think they just went in to warm up for when they were bringing back to the live setting, or do they really have "studio" in the back of their heads?

Obviously we don't know for sure, just wondering what you think.

02-03-2008, 06:18 PM
Well that was definitely for practice, mostly for Rashawn's sake. Eh Hee up until then had just roughly been knocked out full band, so they all needed to learn how to play that. And the other 3 songs are all songs Rashawn had never played on.

But I just don't see them bringing C/E back just to tour it. Maybe that's all it was, but I just don't feel like that was the case.

I think the fact that it reappeared in 2007, and was tested in the studio in November, and the fact that crowd reception of the track is so strong (Fonz's facebook, myspace, etc. connections with fans); and lastly the fact that Stand Up did not go as well as planned by the band, especially given that many good songs were cut from 2004, all of these factors make it likely that Shotgun makes the final cut.

I fear desperately that if it is, it'll be ruined in the studio. Much like Hello Again was from 04.

I was never a Sugar Will fan, but it has actually been growing on me lately (The guitar riff just seems somehow hipnotizing).

As for Crazy Easy, for me it's clearly one of the best post 2000 songs. Almost a masterpiece.

So, if the new album is going to be something along these lines:

- Crazy Easy
- Sugar Will
- Shotgun
- Cornbread and or 27
- Loving Wings
- 6 or 7 new songs

It will definitly be a great album !

If they use the bolded songs it will be a great album....but Cornbread doesnt fit that group of songs at all imo, I used to love it but now im hoping its left off maybe even a b-side.

Personally I think the reason Hello Again turned out so bad has to do with them trying to force it on the album to make it fit with the rest of SU, since they probably didnt want to leave all the 04's off. If it hadnt been for that I think the song would have turned out fine.

I think that Shotgun will work out great musically in the studio it jsut all comes down to Dave getting a better melody and lyrics for the song. I really hope he holds off the yelling and wailing atleast untill the end of the song and maybe give it some sort of build up.

is Eh-Hee 100% on the album? Since it is recorded, or maybe not because it's just dave..right?

No way, I would say its not even close to 100%. I really dont want it on the album its just too empty.

To sum it up, Rashawn basically gave it new life. Listen to some of the versions from this summer. Theres been talk by some of the insiders about it.

Of course shotgun will make it! Have you heard taht song? Its awesome!

I think Idea of You possibly has a chance and 27#. Sometimes I like to think that Dave is gonna put out a Some Devil type album soon. Songs like Falling Off The Roof, Eh Hee, The Fly, Out of My hands, and A Dream So Real sound real good with just him. I don't know, I haven't heard rumors of one, I have heard anyone else talk about the idea, but its a possibility right?

I highly doubt A Dream So Real would be a Dave solo considering the band wrote it on tour this summer.

A Dream So Real could open the album with Shotgun-> Loving Wings-> Shotgun Reprise (2006 summer style) to close the album
