Sugar Will
Gas Into Fire
Crazy Easy
Butterfly
Good Good Time
(Joyride)*

2006:
The Idea of You
Shotgun
Kill The King
Sister
Break Free
Can't Stop

2007:
A Dream So Real
Cornbread
#27
Eh-Hee
Falling Off The Roof
Round and Round
(Sweet Up and Down)*

* Maybe a re-edition?

My picks are: Crazy Easy, The Idea of You, Shotgun, A Dream So Real, Cornbread and #27.

Songs that I think are in play for the album, for various reasons:

SUAD
Loving Wings
Sugar Will
Crazy/Easy
Shotgun
Idea of You
#27
A Dream So Real
Cornbread
Eh Hee

Not saying all will make it, but all will be (and have already been) tried.

Bolded seem to be locks. Underlined have a good possibility. The rest I don't think we'll see.

I didn't mention Loving Wings.
And I mentioned SUAD just because of its comeback. Maybe DMB decide to re-record it, becasue it's still unofficial DMB song....

Quoted to add Loving Wings. I want to see it tracklisted before a "big" song. Loving Wings > Shotgun or Loving Wings > Sugar Will. I'll thank Brendan for that thought.

That'd be great, but I want it the other way around. A really big, epic studio recording of either Shotgun or Sugar Will, that lightly fades into the guitar of Loving Wings, and the album closes out with the triumphant studio jam on that.

But as long as those three songs are on there, I don't care how they do it. :lol

That sounds great too. Really great. As long as they're matched up with each other, I'm great.

Because they've played it on 2002.

i was listening to LW from Camden N2 and it really hit me how great of a song it is. I was busy trying to sneak myself and 2 friends into an empty area of seats so we could sit together while they were playing LW, so I didn't really get to take it in like I now wish I could have. While I think they could do wonders in the studio with it, I dont really see the point of adding it. Although a not so often played song like LW makes more sense than say Granny.

And I have the same problem with "this song blows" or "this song is a shit". Is it good or bad? :shrug

BTW: Do you think that Eh-Hee will be on the next Dave solo album?

A lock means something will be, without question included, involved or will win. In this case, a lock for the album means there is 100% certainty the song will be on. Joyride, which was recorded during Stand Up and released as a bonus b-side, is highly unlikey. I'm almost positive he knows this.

Unless you were kidding too...:lol

Did SUAD ever get officially recorded other than the lillywhite session? It would be cool to finally have a official version. I'm also hoping for Break Free, thought it was a great song and should be on the album.

SUAD is only on tLWS. And a live version on Tour Sampler 2007.

I have no idea why you all are calling crazy-easy. we've seen nothing of it at all...

joyride, folks, has already been released in studio form...

only eh hee (recorded already) has a chance of being released again on this album, and probably for that reason, only as a b-side...

sweet up & down, loving wings are more viable b/c they were practiced in november...

sugar will? really? save for a minor tease in october no other hints that that is being considered...

corn bread, idea of you, 27 & most likely shotgun are locks... dream so real falling close behind them (although interestingly it wasnt played or soundchecked at izod or the other november shows)....

sister and round and round, absent more adds to them musically are destined for another solo album...

oh and can't stop, played acoustically last spring (nearly a year ago) has a faint chance, as does, well maybe falling off the roof (but i think this got sucked up into dream so real)...

the only other two out there i think have a chance (especially after matt's comments that break free/kill the king were scrapped in last year's spring sessions) --> run while we can tested in vegas (which I hate); and maybe a long-bet the sbc 05 soundcheck since Fonz has posted it on his facebook blog and knows folks like it a lot...

As one last thought, perhaps a reworked JTR, but it's absence in 2007 makes me think thats unlikely too...

3 The Idea of You
4 #27

the band needs to put a big suprise on there for people to consider the album great....blue water or deed is done would undoubtedly do the job...not gonna happen i know but it would be a good idea

I don't know if 2 great old songs would have the effect on their new music that think it would because they play shitty music surrounded by great music every summer.

It baffles me that a band can produce a song the quality of 41 or The Stone and also produce a song the quality of Can't Stop or Smooth Rider.

Granny on the other hand is unreleased and I think it's fine that way

Musicology200

Get In Line would be the only one that would be cool to hear studio. It hasnt been played since 1994 but been worked on in the studio during the Crash, BTCS, and Lillywhite Sessions. For a long time they would not give up on this song. Since 2000 though, its been completely dead (as far as we know). It would be a rediculously awesome surprise if it made the new album.

IMO though, most of that old stuff, Granny, Seek Up, Blue Water, Spotlight, should stay old. If they want to play them thats fine by all means, but redoing them in the studio would not be the best idea if you ask me. In a way it screams, we are running out of material and now are using the scraps that didnt make our best albums.

maybe it's just me, but i'd like to hear an album off all new material. dmb can play the unreleased songs in concert which is where they will sound the best anyway. however, if a gun was put to my head and i'd have to choose from the unreleased songs, these would be the only ones i'd like to see:

cornbread
shotgun
sugar will

what about good good time? would need a lot of trimming and cleaning up in order to be good studio song-- sooo much potential though, basically MADE a show in '04 summer
