Just wondering. You have to take them both.

Oh god. Oh god.
I guess you could say everyone album needs a filler song...It really depends on what surrounds the two songs...
Honestly, I think I'll take the Shotgun.

I desperately want a studio production of Shotgun, even if I have to put up with Can't Stop.

Brutal fucking poll. I went with #27 and Cornbread, but as soon as I clicked it I doubted my decision. I really don't know.

Well, we need to know what surrounds the two songs. Same songs excluding what you vote against?
Still taking Shotgun I think.
Good thing it probably won't work out like this poll makes it. Thank goodness.

I can put up with Can't Stop. If you had just put Shotgun up against #27 and Cornbread, I would still pick Shotgun. Who knows though, maybe they'll rework the lyrics to Can't Stop.:rolleyes

Shotgun/Can't Stop, fairly easily. Honestly, Can't Stop can be done right in the studio. It has that smoking room cool to it that, if it gets a lyrical revamp, can be done really well. And it doesn't really need too much more. Dave can just play bass chords, since Fonz is playing lead. Butch can hold down the back end with a Wurlitzer-esque groove. Add a horn section, a bridge, and bam: you have a passable, B- studio song.

But hey, if you feel the need to give them a crutch, go for it.

Give me another example of a B- song. For me, personally? IIHIA, OOMH. I can generally enjoy both, but would never clamor for either.
And you have to know, unless I have an absolute hate for a song, my rankings don't really go lower than C. :lol So I guess my B- is another person's C-. But whatever.

Easily Shotgun and Can't Stop. #27 is lame and boring, and Cornbread just kinda sucks...
Shotgun is very overrated, but still a very good song. Can't Stop isn't great but I can tolerate it. As Brendan said, I can see this making a passable studio song.

Cornbread and #27.
Cornbread is a solid and enjoyable song, and #27 is very worthy of a spot on the album.
As much as the music is bound to sound great on Shotgun, I don't have much faith in Dave writing great lyrics for this song. When he does sit down and write them, he really needs to let go of the vocal melody/screaming that he always stuck to during the tour.
Can't Stop is a lost cause. That song is the more retarded brother of Smooth Rider.

#27 and Cornbread. I think that Shotgun could be just as awesome if it becomes a song like granny, where they work on it but decide to leave it off the album. But then again, it would be awesome if Shotgun was on the album...

I really love both Shotgun and Can't Stop. I don't see why everyone hates Can't Stop, its one of my personal favorites. The lyrics yes are a bit corny, but it adds to the cheesy romance format that the song has. Shotgun personally I hated when I first heard it. Then after five or six listens, it has become one of my favorites. #27 would also be awesome, that song is fricken sweet. I'm not totally sure about Cornbread though, I've only heard the Radio City version so maybe its better full band, or live. Whatever they put on the album I think it'll be awesome!

not that i want to agree, but look at the difference between lillywhite session version of raven and the busted stuff version...

Can't Stop really isn't that good. It bores me.
Cornbread is fun to listen to and Rabbit, the Piedmont version with the band is better that Radio City.
#27 is a pretty cool song and shotgun is shotgun
but i went with cornbread with #27
i'd rather have 2 good songs than a overrated good song and a crappy one

Ok the combo of Cornbread and #27 is better. Even though they are great enough already to maybe not need studio versions. Although I'd love a #27.
Shotgun is going to be amazing on an album.
I really like Can't Stop...but it doesn't need a studio version. That's what Smooth Rider is for

Tough poll --- I picked #27/Cornbread because I think they reveal DMB's future over the next few years. Shotgun is still my favorite song of the poll choices, however. I'd rather enjoy the versions we currently have of Shotty rather than take a gamble on an album containing the likes of Can't Stop :BANG

I think your right and if I remember correctly he didnt have much of a role in the song guitar wise, so its quite possible that it could evolve into a good song...atleast decent.

Jon, this is a great poll topic. You have shotgun...a great great song and then can't stop which is more of a filler/segue ish song. but on the other hand you have two solid songs in #27 and cornbread.
I chose shotgun and can't stop just because I love shotgun that much.
