Does Sister belong on the upcoming DMB album or should it be shelved for a Dave solo album?

neither....but if I had to choose one, definitely Dave solo.

Where is the 'never play that shit again' option?

Either the next solo album or on a B-sides cd. Assuming that one is released that is.

Just so everyone knows, my site DMBnews.net has regular polls on which songs should or shouldn't make the new album. You can check them all out here:

Geez... we all might get tired of hearing it E1 or in the middle of a set but I dont think the song deserves the abuse it's getting here so far. This is definitely solo material.

Agreed, I'm one of the few bitchin' assholes that thinks this song is okay. I don't despise it, and don't think the lyrics are well written but it sounded honest enough on that radio show. Therefor, I approve (but yes, solo album).

sister should not, and will not, come anywhere near a full band album

Definitely not full band album, and it should not be on a solo album similar to Some Devil. It would have to be a much quieter and happier cd.

Solo...it definitely has the Some Devil feel to it

Do you think his next solo album will have the Some Devil feel to it....it could have the sister feel to it

I don't see it being put on the DMB album. Maybe the next Dave solo album, but even that's not an absolute. I guess time will tell.

It'd be a nice filler song for a Solo album.

i considered it for the b-sides of this album too, but if not, definitely a solo album track. The only way we see it on this current studio album is a track 9/digging a ditch type song with limited contributions from other band members, and if that is going to be the case, put it on the b-sides....

Sister is a great song and i hope its on the new album

it should be dave solo or if the band joins in they should center the song around daves guitar

Save it for solo. It's a personal Dave song, it can be done simply acoustically.

Never thought there was that much animosity towards a simple little song like Sister. I actually like the song quite a bit and believe it should be on a studio album. I actually think that they/he would win a grammy for it. It might be better suited for a solo album, but they have put "dave only" songs on albums before (wasn't I'll Back You Up Dave Only). I actually really like the B-Side Idea. I think they should put together a compilation of songs that we came to love during their tours but never made it on albums.

This would make a nice "B" album:
Joy Ride (They already have a studio cut of this)
Crazy Easy
Cornbread
Shot Gun
Sweet Up & Down (They have the Lillywhite Session of this)
Granny
Can't Stop
Eh Hee (There is a studio cut of this)
The Idea of You
Sister
Help Myself (They have a studio cut of this)
JTR

I like this song a bunch...but don't think it should be on a DMB album.

Granny
JTR

They have studio cuts of these as well. Granny was done for the UTTAD sessions. Maybe we'll hear it in thirty years when they release a Beatles Anthology style 6 disc DMB studio session collection.

what makes anyone believe that Sister will be on the album? the band has never done anything with it, its only been played Dave solo. how some of you rationalize this to be a possible DMB album song is beyond me.
