It doesn't say they recorded IOY, and the info about the other 4 was posted here months ago.

Could anyone quote that article here? I don't know why, but I can't open weekly.com.
Thanks

Topping off an exciting week of announcements in the DMB community is the news that the band is finally heading back into the studio! As per Stefan’s Myspace blog, it’s looking like the band will begin work on their highly anticipated upcoming release (and 7th studio album to date) some time in mid March out in Seattle, after some pre-production work back in C’Ville is complete.

Stefan’s assertion that the band will be recording the new album and not just messing around in the studio is a good indication that the nearly three year delay surrounding this much awaited release might finally be over. Back in May of last year, Stefan mentioned to the Brisbane Times that the band was on a “creative break as far as working in the studio,” when asked about progress on a new release.

Sounds like it will be well worth the wait, as the band's careful approach to this next album suggests that they're finding their focus in the studio after nearly three years of trying new things.

Speculations of potential tracks have been swarming since the middle of last summer’s tour, with hopes that some new tunes will be laid out between previously unrecorded live favorites like “Idea Of You” and “#27.” The band was in the studio back in November and is said to have recorded “Cornbread,” “Shotgun,” “Sweet Up and Down” and “Loving Wings” at that time. Mixing such road tested (and fan approved) songs with fresh ones could have the band finishing up production in 2-3 months, giving the album a May/June release date just in time for this summer’s tour.

No producer has been selected at this time, though. As for recording space, Seattle-based Studio Litho seems to be a likely frontrunner considering Dave recorded his Some Devil there. The studio is owned by Stone Gossard, an original founding member of Pearl Jam and Brad.

I really hope they don't put SU&D on it. Love the song, but it's already on tLWS! Oh well, I can't do anything about it.

i agree with you...the lyrics could REALLLY be butchered...but then again we could see some of the best ones he's written in years...that song is very open for greatness, and for shit

I think there will be a lot of people who don't like any of the songs from the last year if they make it on the album. Thats the one problem with road testing songs. Not for the band but for the fans. There will be people who expect a song to sound like one of their favorite live versions. Don't expect the songs to sound like they do live, most never do. If I would have heard Last Stop live before they put it on BTCS and then heard the studio one I would have been like "what did they do to it?" It sounds more "Egyptian" on the album then it does live. Hello Again was not as good on the album, even the unedited one that got leaked, and yet I still think it still sounded good during the 05 tour. But we'll see. I am interested to see what they end up doing. I hope they don't scrap all the new songs like they did in 05. I like Stand Up for the most part but the 4 songs from 04 were better for sure.

He has been able to come up with good lyrics playing it live, Im optimistic that he will be able to do the same in the studio

I think the Robert Lang studio is a strong possibility. That's where Dave recorded that show for AOL a few years ago. In the meantime, he's done some other work there-- in November 2005 and in November 2007 (according to pictures on their website).

It's right down the street from my house... I could check it out. :p

Weeklydavespeak's source is about as inside as you can get without being a band member.

I would say 100% that this was true the time it was posted. But things do change.

I don't know if I would want Loving Wings on an album. I mean it's now a stand alone song but I don't know if you can capture it as well in the studio. I know it doesn't mean they put it on the album but just my opinion.

I dont think loving wings would be good on an album either...

I like i as a live tack that is constantly evolving or changing however minutely...

I like proudest monkey on the album, so if they can do something similar to that for loving wings it would work for me. Jam it out like they do live, don't leave it off at 4 minutes like they did to Hello Again.

Loving Wings could be like a Let You Down or a PFWYG on an album. if they do it right, i think it would be awesome!

Well, if it turns out good then I'll be proven wrong. BUT I don't want it to turn into those two songs in the way of never being played, or rarely anyways.

I agree. Loving Wings is in my Top 5 and i would be bothered if they never played it.

i actually think loving wings has the potential to be better in studio than live, being a quiet song i think they can add and we can notice more little subtilities that we wouldnt hear in a live setting

Instead of creating a new thread I'm just gonna top this one. Where's the news? I mean I hate to be one of those people that every day is like..."omgz when is Stand Up Pt. 2 coming out!?!" but its late February and, according to numerous sources, they should be in the studio.

So, what's up? Are they? What's the word from planet crackpot?
