Hey guys,
To keep this as short as possible, I am in a DMB tribute band that is in search of a sax player that is familiar with Leroi's work and has good improvisational skills. The group's lineup is solid with drums, bass, guitar/vocals, electric guitar, violin, backup vocals. We have booking interest from NYC to DC and everything in between and are looking to start booking the first week in April. The lineup is ready to hit the road now, but the sax is something we'd like to have. We practice in Secane, Pa. on Saturday afternoons. If you are interested or want to know more, drop me a PM or just reply to the thread.

Cheers,
Brian

Damn man... had you posted this 1 year ago, I'd have been in. Wish I could help. Let me know if you need a stand in in July at all!

Let me know when you get back out here bro.

On a side note, lets hope Mats sticking around can get those Leafs to make a playoff push. As long as its not at the expense of the Flyers. haha

will do... but i'm only ever around for 1-2 months at a time... i work as a musician on a cruise ship... HOWEVER, if your tribute band can guarantee equal compensation, I'd consider taking a break from life on the seas to play full time with you guys. But then we'd be getting into negotiating costs. From my connections, no one has really ever established a successful Philly-based DMB tribute band yet. Philly really isn't the market for one. But let me know what your leads are and how often you plan to gig and at what price per member (minus group expenses, of course). I would consider taking a break from this to do something like that. I know most of Roi's stuff already and stuff I don't know I can easily learn. I already own all the horns and live audio equipment I need. And my "home" address is an within a reasonable distance from Philly. If the band makes enough, I'd be willing to move to the city.

As for the Flyers... never been a fan, out of spite since my whole family is Philly fans. Growing up it was just more fun to root against them. I'm hopeful about the Leafs, but not holding my breath. They don't have the best history of making runs for the playoffs in the last few years.

If you want to sample any of my playing, I recorded some DMB stuff on the Forum project. I can send it to you. Fairly simple stuff (SMTS, Crush, and SUAD). I also have Youtube videos up of amateur jams at DMB tailgates... just go to Youtube and search for "ants jam" or "whitey ants" or "whitey jam" something like that... you'll see it. Usually me in my Peanutbutter jelly time t-shirt.

Hey man,
Sorry it took me a few days to get back to you on this. I'm not sure we're really for you. Since we're just getting off the ground it would probably be pretty difficult for us to offer you equal compensation for what you're making now. Also, a couple of the guys in the band are older with families so they're looking to only gig a few times of month. Believe me, if I had it my way we'd be working towards going full time and doing this as a job. But that doesn't seem likely right now. Hit me up when you're in town though and we'll see if we can jam a little. It can never hurt to have an extra horn up on stage.

Thanks for the info. I understand what you're saying. I was involved with a funk band in a similar situation last year. They wanted it to go places, just didn't have the ideal set up with families and whatnot. I was crunching some numbers just for reference earlier and figured in order to continue making what I'm making right now by gigging on land I'd need to gig 3 times a week at about $200 a gig... a longshot nonetheless. But this is great cause I've been looking for some connections to get a few gigs lined up while I am at home. I'd love to jam with you guys sometime. If whatever sax player you pick up needs charts for Roi's parts, just hit up my website in my sig. Good luck, bro!
