We just put a youtube up on the front page of our site.

I like the feedback you guys usually give, so let me know what you think. The club had a weirdly small stage, but the sound was pretty good. I was absolutely trainwrecked too haha - i have this dumb look on my face the whole time.

http://www.theprojectboston.com - its the first thing you see on the site

Ya... I sing, play the acoustic, and write most of the songs.

It's a lot of fun - we've been playing lots around Boston, which is a pretty solid town for gigs.

The guitar solo comes out of left field and I think the other changes could be a little smoother. I really like the beginning part though.

Thanks - are you talking about the video? We didn't do it - some other production company did it. It actually kinda sucks.

Which solo are you talking about though?

this is really good. great guitar riff, really good voice, and i love the funkyness.

i think your drummer kinda kills the mood in the verses though...slows it down to much. it starts off funky and kick ass and then goes to like...eh. . .

a little carter-like hi-hat work off that main guitar lick would sound fantastic.

good stuff though. i likah vedy much.

oh sweet guys thanks a lot.

this is a pretty simple funk/jam song, but we have been getting very compositional lately. you should check out the stuff we're writing now - off time stuff with strong jazz undertones. and the chord voicings are cooler too.

its a more "mature" sound.

thanks so much for the kind words!

Yea thats what i mean about the beginning of the song. But the guitar solo doens't seem to sound how I thought it would. Maybe its his effect, or his speed at the beginning. It would be cool if it kept with the funky sound that the start of the song had.

I hear what you're saying, but there is a cut in the video before that final solo - that's why it isn't smooth. It makes sense in its entirety, i promise haha.

Also, we moved the video from the intro page to make room for our new flash animation.

The video is now here:

Thanks so much! We're in the middle of a really productive writing period too - we have three great songs ready for the stage. That makes 12 originals for the band. Plus our rotation of 5 or 6 covers we have a very very solid set put together.

It's been a lot of fun playing with such great musicians.

i can dig it, at first glance though it kinda sounds all the same, but then again so do a lot of bands and they do well at it and you guys seem to be doing well.

first of all, thanks for the compliments guys.

also, i'm kinda glad you brought that up. we've been taking a hard look at our songwriting direction recently and we've decided that we need to diversify sound/style in order to mature as a band. so the last 4 or 5 songs we've written really run the gammut. one is a poppy, upbeat song about doing drugs, one is a funky ass tune in 6 with no chorus (just a repeating break) about limitations on humanity, one is a 2 minute long song we're calling "commercial" that's supposed to weirdly break up a set or an album, one has a bad ass electric riff and most of these songs (contrastingly) have no solos in them at all - we wanted to hone our songwriting chops and then bring in the jams later.

but ya - as a young band its tough to find your sound without writing some songs that blend slightly. hopefully we're beyond that.

its been really fun experimenting

indeed it should be. cant wait to hear them. you guys should do a salsa/tango/latin song. i think you guys could pull something off like that badass style.

we threw a salsa bridge into one of our signature songs - "short skirt." unfortunately it only works well when my buddy who goes to berklee guests with us haha.

the writing process has been intense lately... so fun haha
