View Full Version : No "Making Of" Website = Good News

I take heart in the notion that they're not doing another website to show us every... little... teasing... step of the album process interspersed with clips of vague and not-quite-believable shots of the boys talking up the new album. It makes one think they're taking the studio time seriously, and that they've got something special cooking that they don't want to leak.

Like I said in another post... I will be happy if they don't go on camera and say things like "this was the easiest record to make". I want them to say "this was the most intense work we've done in years" and mean it.

Shit yeah! I hope we don't see or hear anything about the album until they play songs on the tour.

i wouldnt really mind them doing these types of videos as long as they arent filled with the band talking about how great of an album its gonna be. if they are just giving us a glimpse of whats going on then i would love to see them.

I want to see one of the band members break down and cry because they've never been pushed so hard.

hah kind of like the maury show when the bootcamp guy comes and yells at all the little kids. i see rob as that kind of guy.

haha not quite but i really do see him not giving the band too much slack which is a good thing. thats based upon his interviews and such so its all speculation but thats what i think

I see that happening to Stefan or Boyd first before the others...

that's what i was thinking. they had been in haunted hollow with batson for quite awhile before that first vid popped up on that site. i don't think they will end up going that route this time, but its far too early to rule it out.

Yeah, but I do seem to recall there was a little hype about them doing such a thing before the site itself actually got up & running (maybe an announcement on dmband.com?). I could be mis-remembering...

There was some website that said had a list of websites that were pending to be design and one of them was "New DMB Studio Album", this was like 2 years to a year and a 1/2 ago.

i hope they keep it quiet...and when they release the album maybe release a behind the scenes dvd along with it...would be pretty cool to see them with the new producer, tim, and whoever else is gonna be in there with them and to see some of the songs they come up with

In my local paper, along with the ad promoting the concert, is a link to the New Studio Album.. Guess they are gonna do it.

The ad for the concert says, in a little bubble, JOIN DMB IN THE STUDIO: www.dmbnewstudioalbum.com. Although at the moment it still just has the SU stuff on it.

Yeah, I hope that along with the album, there's a disc with video of a "making of." Something like that BTCS promo on MTV (or was it Vh1?)

I'm whatever about a real-time behind the scenes website, a-la dmbnewstudioalbum.com. If it doesn't happen, fine. If it does, I'm sure everyone here will check it out, so w/e.

I hope they don't premier every song from their new album this summer...They should release a couple and leave the rest for the album

BTCS had an inside look at DMB in the studio, Everyday did on Charlie Rose, and Stand Up had the website. Stefan got a MySpace, took polls on IZStyle, had a studio blog when they were recording the album in 06' before the tour. Then on this past tour Stefan had those videos we all saw.

Thanks in large to Stefan, I'd doubt we don't hear anything from inside the studio. I expect he'll post a video eventually. But who cares? A video isn't going to effect the outcome of the record. It's all about how much effort they want to put in. I've seen a few BTCS videos, and it turned out ok.

Why? Would you not buy the album? If you don't want to hear the new songs, don't go to shows or download them.

Plus we don't know if the album will come in 08'. It's very possible they play everything they have from the studio sessions. Then go back into the studio after the tour, and see how songs have evolved. From that they make their album.

I agree. I don't want to hear bo diddly about the album until it's in my cd player.

I think that hearing all of the songs live before the album comes out takes away from the new album in a way. When a new record comes out from one of my favorite artists, I'm always excited to hear 10-12 Brand New songs that I haven't ever heard. Hearing DMB play 1 or 2 new ones is okay, but if they saturate the sets with most-all of the songs they're working on for the new album, then I may as well just put the live recordings on a CD, and there's the new album. It's like a kid that looks for and finds all of his Christmas presents, and then on Christmas he isn't surprised or excited because he knew pretty much everything he was getting. Leave the new material for the album.

I have a feeling they'll get it on the market by the end of May, maybe even to coincide with the start of the tour. They've spent months on "preproduction", whatever that encompasses. It doesn't take that long to record an album in the studio, either. I betcha--summer '08 album.

the association of making of sites and bad albums is so so so retarded.

It is associating two unrelated things because they occurred near each other. Today I drank a coke and forgot my keys. NEVER DRINKING COKE AGAIN

there's a firedancer on the stand up album. IF I EVER SEE ONE ASSOCIATED WITH THE BAND AGAIN, THE APOCALYPSE IS COMING.
