Hi, just looking for feedback on some new recordings we did. I sing and play guitar. I am in real need of vocal advice though and would greatly appreciate if I got any.
Thanks

you guys are good enough, i didnt get a great listen but it sounded good for what i did get to.
just wondering what your motivation is and where you want to go? if you are looking to gig and stuff then i could offer some advice, if you are just looking to record some calm mellow music like what i heard i could offer different advice. i mean its obvious you did a lot of mixing in with stuff unless your bass player/keyboardest has 4 hands so converting to a live setting would be interesting.
i think you guys need a lead guitar player, or some sort of standout lead instrument. especially with the way you sing, which is easily the weakest part of the band (it usually is, singing isnt easy, i know i cant sing either just look at my shit! haha) but it doesnt standout as a lead melody on its own it needs some help.

not to say your singing is bad just to let you know, its just the easiest area to improve. just saying, stepping away from the radiohead/coldplay thing is what im talking about. it just doenst do it for me.

We are looking to gig more than anything. We play with a lot more energy when we play live than when we record. I don't know, we all just hate recording so much, there is no fun in it. And you're right, we do need a lead of some kind.

I agree with you, the vocals are the weakest part. Thanks for the feedback, really. Most people just say "Good job" and leave it at that, which is really of no help at all. Your critique is something I'm going to really consider.

I feel like you need to try to practice singing with more power or something. Try learning some Dave songs where you would be forced to try to develop a stronger sound in your voice. Thats what I've been trying to to lately. Like singing spoon or the stone or whatever really. Also try singing with different rythms occasionally trying to hit backbeats and such or holding notes or whatever.

I thought it was interesting, in a good way. I think once everything tightens up, it will sound very nice. I feel like the drummer is trying to use the hats like Carter and it just needs to be tighter to be effective. I would recommend some more effects on the vocals, rather than just doubling, I think some effects could mask the room for improvement and this could sound better.
I think you guys could mature into a nice group.

you know what REALLY helped my voice? playing the harmonica. seriously when i picked the harmonica up i was focusing on only breathing through my mouth and strongly from the diaphram. when you can apply that to singing, bingo your voice will almost instantly sound better.

Top three tracks, garage band, the bottom two (older tracks), audacity.

Ugh, I would love to sound like a 16 year old! Or at least anything after hitting puberty.

This technique does work well. I've done it over the past 6 months and my voice is so much more powerful and imo sounds better than it did. But dude, good luck with #41.

I know right, I feel like I am just the smallest little bit flat on the yell in 41 and same with in crash. the only time I ever dare to practice is in the car by myself. I could always just sit in my room yelling at the top of my lungs for my whole apartment complex to hear.
